CSI Scent Search · Fresh Linen
CSI does not list a Fresh Linen fragrance oil. This page says so plainly, shows what a linen accord is made of, and tests the four CSI oils that cover the most of it against the real thing: a line-dried pillowcase.

Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell a Fresh Linen fragrance oil? No. On 24 September 2026 CSI lists no fragrance oil named or described as fresh linen. We searched every product title in the catalogue: the only item with "linen" in its name is the Room & Linen Spray Base, which is a base you add fragrance to, not a fragrance.

What does a fresh linen fragrance usually contain? Typically an aldehydic "sunlit" sparkle, an airy or ozonic note, a touch of light citrus, soft white florals such as lily of the valley, often a little lavender, and a clean musk base. It smells like fabric dried outdoors, not like soap or perfume.

What is the nearest CSI oil? Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil, the nearest with a stated candle load and every size in stock. Its page states ozone, lily of the valley, driftwood and musk: four of the seven usual linen components, including the airy ozone that makes linen smell of the outdoors. Lavender, Cucumber Green Tea and Neroli each cover a different part.

What should I do next? Test Blue Ocean against a real line-dried reference cloth before you name anything "linen", and ask CSI on WhatsApp if a true linen oil is essential to your launch.
The short answer
Plainly: CSI does not list a Fresh Linen fragrance oil as of 24 September 2026.
Closest single oil: Blue Ocean (₹247.00 for 50 g), the closest with a stated candle load and every size in stock, with ozone, lily of the valley and musk stated on its page.
What is missing: no CSI oil states an aldehydic note, the "sunlight on fabric" sparkle most linen accords are built on.
How to choose: score each substitute against a real line-dried cloth, blind, at 6%, 8% and 10%. Keep the one people call "clean washing", not "sea".

That is the honest gap. Component list is general perfumery practice, not a CSI formula. Close-relative calls are our judgement.
Seven components a fresh linen fragrance usually contains, against the four CSI oils that come closest. Blue Ocean and Cucumber Green Tea each state four of the seven, but only Blue Ocean's four include the open-air ozone; nothing in the catalogue states the aldehydic sparkle, which is why none of these is sold or described as a linen oil.
Straight answer
I want to make fresh linen candles. Does CSI sell a Fresh Linen fragrance oil, and if not, what should I buy?
CSI does not list a Fresh Linen fragrance oil as of 24 September 2026, and we would rather say so than let you find a near-miss labelled as one. The closest single oil with a stated candle load and every size in stock is Blue Ocean (₹247.00 for 50 g): its page states ozone, lily of the valley, driftwood and musk, which is the airy, clean-floral, musky skeleton of most linen accords. What it adds that linen usually lacks is sea salt; what it lacks is the aldehydic sparkle that makes linen smell sunlit. Buy it at 50 g alongside Lavender (₹270.00), which brings the soft musk and the "clean cupboard" herbal edge, and test both blind against a real line-dried cloth. If neither reads as "clean washing" to your testers, do not force the name; ask us on WhatsApp whether a linen oil is planned.
One line: there is no linen oil at CSI; Blue Ocean is the closest skeleton, and a washing-line test, not the bottle, decides whether it is close enough.
The nearest single oil. Blue Ocean 50 g is ₹247.00 (₹4.94 per gram): four 150 g candles at 8%. The page states "candles (up to 10%)" and describes it as phthalate-free.

What we checked, and what we found

A plain no, with the working shown.

Before writing this page we went through every product title in the CSI catalogue on 24 September 2026, 404 products in all, and every one of the 102 fragrance oil listings with their stated notes. No fragrance oil is titled fresh linen, clean linen, linen breeze or anything similar, and no oil's stated notes describe itself as a linen fragrance. We also searched every title for "cotton" and "laundry", the words linen shoppers use next. Across the three searches only two items came back, one for "linen" and one for "cotton", and neither is what a linen search is looking for:

Item What it is Price Useful for a linen candle?
Room & Linen Spray Base – Fast-Dry, Zero-Residue (500 g) An unscented base for making room and fabric sprays; you add the fragrance ₹999.00 No. It is a spray base, not a candle fragrance. Useful if your customer wants a linen spray (see below).
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made Wicks from ₹120.00 for 10 Only as a wick. It has nothing to do with scent.

Clean cotton and fresh laundry are separate searches with their own answers, in Clean Cotton Fragrance Oil for Candle Making and Fresh Laundry Fragrance Oil for Candles. The overview of every clean family CSI does sell, and a first basket, is on the hub page, Buy Clean Fragrance Oils for Candle Making in India.

Argued against our own interest: it would be easy for us to rename Blue Ocean "Fresh Linen" and sell more of it. We have not, because it is not one: it states sea salt on top, and a linen fragrance usually does not smell of the sea. If a supplier offers you a "linen" oil, ask for its stated notes and a sample before you buy volume, whoever that supplier is.

What a fresh linen accord usually contains

"Fresh linen" is a style perfumers build, not a single natural material; linen fabric itself barely smells of anything. What people recognise is the smell of cloth washed and dried outdoors on a breezy day, then folded. Linen accords vary between manufacturers, but they are usually built from the same seven parts. Knowing them lets you judge any substitute on paper before you spend on a test.

The sparkle: aldehydes

Aldehydes are the bright, slightly waxy, "just ironed" lift at the top of many clean fragrances. In a linen accord they do the job of sunlight. They are also the part CSI's catalogue does not cover: no CSI oil states an aldehydic note on its page. That single missing piece is the main reason we say no substitute will be exact.

The air: ozone and breeze

An ozonic or "open air" note gives the sense of wind through fabric. Blue Ocean states "ozone" in its top notes. The difference is that in Blue Ocean it arrives with "sea salt", which pulls the impression towards the coast.

The lift: light citrus

A little bergamot or lemon brightens the opening without making it smell like a citrus candle. Cucumber Green Tea states "hints of lemon"; Neroli states "orange blossom". Blue Ocean states no citrus.

The softness: white florals and lavender

Lily of the valley (often called muguet) is the classic clean floral, with jasmine close behind. Lavender is common in linen accords too, because lavender and fresh washing are linked in many people's memories. Blue Ocean states "jasmine and lily of the valley"; Lavender states "fresh lavender top notes, herbal green mid notes"; Cucumber Green Tea states "delicate jasmine".

The finish: clean musk and pale wood

White or clean musk is what makes linen smell of skin and cloth rather than air, and a pale wood keeps it dry. Blue Ocean states "driftwood and musk"; Lavender states "soft musk base"; Cucumber Green Tea states "Clean musk, light woods".

Linen vs its neighbours · general style guide
How a linen accord differs from an aquatic one
Feature Fresh linen (usually) Aquatic, such as Blue Ocean (as stated) What it means for you
Opening Aldehydic sparkle, a touch of citrus Sea salt and ozone Blue Ocean opens saltier and cooler
Heart Lily of the valley, lavender, soft white florals Jasmine and lily of the valley A close match in the heart
Base Clean white musk, pale wood Driftwood and musk A close match in the base
Overall impression Sunlit fabric, indoors Sea air, outdoors Test whether people say "washing" or "beach"

Cotton accords are softer and more powdery than linen, and laundry accords brighter and soapier; how the three differ from each other is laid out in Fresh Laundry Fragrance Oil for Candles. This page stays with linen.

The four nearest CSI oils

None of these is linen. Each one is a different piece of it.

We rank on how many linen components each page states, whether a candle load is stated, and stock at every size on 24 September 2026. We have no throw measurements, and the "linen-likeness" calls are our judgement from stated notes. Candle counts assume 150 g at 8% (12 g of oil).

1
aquatic · closest skeleton · 4 of 7 components
Blue Ocean Fragrance Oil
The closest oil to a linen accord that also states a candle load and has every size in stock. (The Freshwater listing below states more linen parts on paper, but gives no candle load and only its small sizes are in stock.) The page states "sea salt and ozone top notes, jasmine and lily of the valley heart, and driftwood and musk base" and "candles (up to 10%)", and describes it as "phthalate-free". Ozone, lily of the valley, musk and a pale wood are four of the seven usual linen components, and the ozone is the one no other CSI oil on this page states. Who it is for: a maker who wants one "fresh laundry-ish" candle without blending. Limitation: the sea salt. At 10% it may read "coast" rather than "cupboard"; test whether 6% keeps it closer to fabric.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

2
soft musk · the lavender-linen route
Lavender Fragrance Oil
Covers the two linen parts Blue Ocean handles least clearly: lavender and a soft musk finish. The page states "fresh lavender top notes, herbal green mid notes, and soft musk base" and "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles", and calls it IFRA-certified (page wording; ask for documents). Many people connect lavender with folded, clean washing, so a lavender candle can carry a "linen cupboard" name honestly. Limitation: it reads as lavender first. If your customer wants linen with no named flower, this is a support oil, not the lead.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹105.02 ₹7.00 1
50 g ₹270.00 ₹5.40 4
100 g ₹540.00 ₹5.40 8

3
green · the quiet, clean-musk option
Cucumber Green Tea
The softest and cheapest of the four. The page lists "Clean musk, light woods" as its base, "Delicate jasmine, hints of lemon" in the heart and "Crisp cucumber, fresh green tea leaves" on top. On paper it states as many linen components as Blue Ocean (lemon, jasmine, clean musk, light woods), and it has the light citrus Blue Ocean lacks; what it does not state is anything airy. The load is worded "we recommend using 8-10% fragrance oil per pound of wax"; we apply it as a percentage of total weight and include 6% as a control. Limitation: the cucumber and tea top pulls it towards "spa", so in a linen test it tends to lose on the first sniff and gain later in the burn.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹176.41 ₹3.53 4
100 g ₹352.82 ₹3.53 8
500 g ₹1,663.80 ₹3.33 41
1 kg ₹3,327.60 ₹3.33 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹42.34 at 50 g, the cheapest of the four. Buy Cucumber Green Tea
4
citrus floral · the sunlit edge
Neroli Fragrance Oil
Of these four, the nearest to the brightness linen gets from aldehydes, via a different route: "Bright neroli with hints of orange blossom, honey, and soft green undertones". Stated load: "Up to 10% for soy wax Up to 6% for paraffin wax". Who it is for: a maker whose idea of linen is sun-warmed rather than breezy. Limitations: no musk or wood is stated, the "honey" can read warm rather than clean, and it is the dearest of the four at ₹6.84 per gram (39% more than Blue Ocean at 50 g).
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹118.00 ₹7.87 1
50 g ₹342.20 ₹6.84 4

Near-misses we would not use as linen stand-ins
Considered and set aside, with the reason
Oil Why it came up Why we set it aside for linen
Freshwater Fragrance Oil Bath and Body Works Inspired Opens with "Italian bergamot and lemon zest", then marine accord and lavender over cedarwood and musk: five of the seven linen components on paper, more than Blue Ocean That is CSI's listing name; CSI is not affiliated with the brand and the name stays off your label. Worth a sniff at 15 g or 50 g if you want the citrus opening, but the page states no candle load, 143% dearer per gram than Blue Ocean at 50 g, and its 500 g and 1 kg are out of stock on 24 September 2026. Its price and wholesale position are covered in Clean and Fresh Candle Fragrance Oils Wholesale.
Neroli Signature Grade Stated "White Musk, Soft Woods" base and "Light White Florals" A perfume-grade listing whose page gives an EDP rate ("Best as EDP (18–22%)"), not a candle load; ₹7.98 per gram at 50 g. Worth a sniff, not a first candle buy.
Verbena Fragrance Oil Clean and bright Lemony-herbal with no stated base: reads "kitchen", not "washing".

The washing-line test: judging a substitute

The usual way to compare fragrance oils is side by side. For a substitute, that is not enough: two candles can both be pleasant and neither smell like linen. You need a reference that is the target. For fresh linen, the best reference is free: a plain white cotton or linen pillowcase, washed without fabric conditioner and dried outdoors.

1
Make the referenceWash a plain white pillowcase with your usual detergent, no conditioner, and dry it outside on a dry, breezy day. Fold it and seal it in a zip bag as soon as it comes off the line. This is what "fresh linen" means to most of your customers.
2
Pour the substitutes at three loadsFour oils at 6%, 8% and 10% of total weight in 150 g jars: 9 g, 12 g or 15 g of oil with 141 g, 138 g or 135 g of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, whose stated ceiling of 10% matches all four oils' stated maximums. Twelve candles, same wick, same day, labels on the base.
3
Cure, then cold-sniff against the clothNone of the four pages states a cure time; at least 48–72 hours, longer for soy, is common practice. At day 7, have each tester smell the pillowcase first, then each candle, and score "how much like the cloth?" from 1 to 5. Re-smell the cloth between candles.
4
Ask for one word, before the scoreBefore scoring, ask each tester for one word. "Washing", "sheets" or "clean" is a pass for a linen name. "Sea", "spa", "lavender" or "perfume" tells you which linen component is overpowering the rest.
5
Burn the top twoBurn the two best-scoring candles, one per session, in the same room for two to three hours. Score again from the doorway at 30 minutes and 2 hours. Linen accords should stay soft; if a substitute turns sharp or salty when hot, drop its load.
6
Decide the name after the test, not beforeOnly an oil that scores 4 or more against the cloth, from most testers, has earned a linen-style name. Anything else is a good fresh candle with a different name.
What the test costs
Four oils at 50 g (₹1,035.61) + 2 kg of CSI 464 (₹1,014.80) + a pack of 10 Clear Glass Jars with Golden Lid (150 gram) (₹944.00) + a pack of 5 Clear Frosted Glass Jars (₹354.00) for candles eleven and twelve + a pack of 20 Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) (₹118.00; twelve needed, the pack of 10 is two short) + a sheet of 40 wick stickers (₹100.00) = ₹3,566.41 for all twelve candles. Check your fill weight in the frosted jars, as the page gives size (height 8 cm, width 7 cm) rather than fill capacity. Smelling from 15 g bottles first (₹409.46 for the four) will rule oils out but cannot compare loads.
Mistake: using a linen room spray or a fabric conditioner as the reference. Fix: those are someone else's fragrance, and your candle would end up chasing a product you cannot name on your label. The line-dried cloth is the scent your customer is actually remembering, and it belongs to no one.

If no single oil passes, a two-oil blend at a combined load within the ceiling is the next step: Blue Ocean with Lavender is the obvious pair on paper. Blending method and ratios are on the laundry page, Fresh Laundry Fragrance Oil for Candles, so we do not repeat them here.

Naming a linen-style candle honestly

Your label is a promise about what the candle smells like. Make one you can keep.

You are free to name your own candle whatever you like, but a customer who buys a "Fresh Linen" candle expects it to smell like a linen accord. If your candle is Blue Ocean at 6%, and your testers said "washing", a linen-style name is fair. If they said "sea", a name like "Sea Linen" or "Shoreline Sheets" tells the truth and still sells the mood.

Naming by test result · our suggestions
Let the one-word answers choose the name
Testers mostly said… Likely oil Honest name direction Avoid
"washing", "sheets", "clean" Blue Ocean at a lower load Line-Dried, Clean Sheets, Sunday Washing Any third-party brand or product name
"sea", "breeze" Blue Ocean at a higher load Sea Linen, Coastal Cotton, Shoreline "Fresh Linen" on its own
"lavender", "cupboard" Lavender Lavender Linen, Linen Cupboard Wellness claims of any kind
"spa", "cucumber" Cucumber Green Tea Clean Towels, Spa Linen Implying it is a linen oil
"sunny", "orange blossom" Neroli Sunlit Linen, Morning Window "Clean cotton" (it is not powdery)

Two firm rules. Never put a perfume house's, retailer's or brand's name on your label, even if an oil's CSI listing uses one. And keep wellness language off lavender candles: describe the scent ("fresh lavender over soft musk"), not what it does to the person. How a set of names becomes a coherent clean line is the job of Best Clean Fragrances for a Candle Collection.

If your customer wants a linen spray, not a candle

A surprising number of "fresh linen" searches come from people who really want a fabric or pillow spray to sell alongside candles. For that, CSI does list a base: the Room & Linen Spray Base – Fast-Dry, Zero-Residue (500 g) at ₹999.00, which you scent with an oil of your choice. The Lavender page gives "For room sprays, use 8-15%"; follow the spray base's own instructions for how to combine them and test on a hidden patch of fabric first. A starting pair of base plus Lavender 50 g is ₹1,269.00. Blue Ocean's page does not state a spray rate, so treat it as untested for that use and ask us on WhatsApp.

Honest limit: a spray base does not solve the missing linen note. A Lavender or Blue Ocean spray will smell like Lavender or Blue Ocean. It is a good companion product for a linen-style candle, not a shortcut to a linen fragrance.

What a linen-style candle costs to make

Worked example, Blue Ocean at 8% in a 150 g clear jar: 12 g of oil at the 50 g price (₹59.28) + 138 g of CSI 464 at the 1 kg price (₹70.02) + one jar from the pack of 10 (₹94.40) + one C1 wick (₹5.90) = ₹229.60. At the 500 g oil price it is ₹229.79, almost the same, because Blue Ocean is priced fractionally higher per gram in bulk (₹4.96 at 500 g against ₹4.94 at 50 g). Both exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. For a linen look, a White Matte Glass Jar is ₹70.80 per jar in the pack of 10 (₹708.00) or a Clear Frosted jar ₹70.80 in the pack of 5; neither page states a fill weight, so weigh a full jar of wax before you cost it.

Linen-style candles for Christmas, 25 December 2026? That is 92 days from our price check: time for the washing-line test and one production pour if you start this month. Blue Ocean 500 g is ₹2,478.00, enough for 41 candles at 8%. Ask on WhatsApp for a quote, GST invoice and dispatch date.

The CSI principle
Say what you do not stock. Then help anyway.
A buyer who is told plainly that there is no linen oil can plan around the gap. A buyer sold a near-miss under a linen name finds out from their own customers.
"We do not have a fresh linen oil. We have the air, the flowers and the musk that most linen accords are built on, and a pillowcase test that tells you whether that is close enough."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the oils, wax, jars and spray base named here and does not sell finished candles. This page exists to tell linen searchers that we do not have what they searched for, and to steer them to the nearest real options without dressing any of them up as linen.

The catalogue search, every price and every per-gram figure were checked on CSI's live store on 24 September 2026. All four substitute oils were in stock at every size on that date; out-of-stock sizes of other oils are flagged. Notes, candle loads and IFRA or phthalate wording are quoted from each product page.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy fresh linen fragrance oil for candles in India?
Not from CSI as of 24 September 2026: CSI lists no fresh linen fragrance oil. The nearest CSI oil with a stated candle load and every size in stock is Blue Ocean (₹247.00 for 50 g), which states ozone, lily of the valley, driftwood and musk. Ask CSI on WhatsApp if a linen oil is planned.
What does fresh linen fragrance smell like?
Like cloth washed and dried outdoors: usually an aldehydic sparkle, an airy or ozonic note, a touch of light citrus, soft white florals such as lily of the valley, often lavender, and a clean musk base. It is softer than a sea scent and less soapy than a laundry-detergent scent.
Is Blue Ocean fragrance oil similar to fresh linen?
Partly. Its page states ozone, jasmine, lily of the valley, driftwood and musk, which overlaps four of the seven usual linen components. It also states sea salt, which linen usually lacks, and no aldehydic note. Test it at 6% and 8% against a line-dried cloth before naming it linen.
Can I use the Room and Linen Spray Base to make a linen candle?
No. It is a base for room and fabric sprays, not a candle fragrance and not a wax additive. You can scent it with an oil such as Lavender, whose page gives 8–15% for room sprays, to make a spray that matches your candle.
How much fragrance oil for a fresh linen style candle?
Test 6%, 8% and 10% of total candle weight: 9 g, 12 g and 15 g of oil in a 150 g candle. All four nearest CSI oils state a maximum of 10%, which is also the stated ceiling of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. Linen-style candles often read better at the lower end.
Can I call my candle "Fresh Linen" if I use a different fragrance oil?
You can name your own candle, but the name should match what customers smell. Only use a linen name if blind testers describe it as washing or clean sheets; otherwise use a name like Sea Linen or Line-Dried. Never use a third-party brand name on your label.

Non-price figures: candle maths assume a 150 g candle with load as a percentage of total weight (8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax); candle counts are floor(grams ÷ 12). Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464's stated ceiling of 10% is a formulation limit, not a regulatory one. The catalogue search covered 404 product titles and 102 fragrance oil listings. The seven-component linen model is general perfumery practice; coverage calls, naming suggestions and the washing-line test are editorial judgement. Per-candle costs are worked examples and exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. Christmas (25 December 2026) is a calendar date.
