Where to Source Professional Fragrance Oils for a Luxury Candle Brand in India
Aktie
What documents should a fragrance supplier give me? At minimum the MSDS and IFRA certificate for each oil, and a GST invoice if you are registered. Ask with the first order. See the checklist.
How much does it cost to source fragrances for a new luxury brand? Our illustrative first season comes to ₹65,660.04: ₹2,791.84 to test eight oils, ₹39,321.20 to launch four scents (120 candles), and ₹23,547.00 for the first kilo of the best seller. See the season plan.
Can I get exclusive fragrances? Catalogue oils are sold to everyone. Nothing on exclusive or custom fragrance development is published in our data, so ask on WhatsApp what is possible and do not assume it.
The eight-point sourcing checklist
The first instinct when sourcing for a luxury brand is to compare scents. That comes later. Before any oil reaches a test candle, the supplier has to pass some practical checks: can you get the safety paperwork, can you cost the candle from the listing, can you test without buying kilos, and can you buy the same oil again next season. Here are eight checks, with what each means for a luxury brand and what CSI publishes against it.
| Check | Why it matters for a luxury brand | How to check | What CSI publishes or provides |
|---|---|---|---|
| Safety documents | Stockists, corporate and hospitality buyers ask for them; they inform your load | Ask for the MSDS and IFRA certificate for each oil before you launch it | Available on request on WhatsApp |
| GST invoicing | Needed if you are GST-registered, and by most business buyers | Ask with the first order, not later | Available on request |
| Listed prices by size | You can cost a candle before you speak to anyone | Look for per-size prices you can divide into ₹/g | Published: 15 g to 1 kg per oil |
| Stock status by size | A luxury brand cannot relaunch around a missing scent | Check the production size of every range oil is in stock | Published per size (not per unit); quantities confirmed on WhatsApp |
| A real small size | Testing premium oils without buying kilos | Is there a 15 g or 50 g for each candidate? | 15 g for 15 premium oils; 50 g for most others |
| Honest volume terms | Planning cash and margin | Ask whether a discount applies and get it in writing | Quoted on WhatsApp; no discount figure published |
| Wax, wicks and jars | One consistent build, one invoice | Can the same supplier supply the full candle? | Waxes, wicks and jars listed; see the tables below |
| Consistency on reorder | Your fifth candle must smell like your first | Keep retained samples; compare each new batch | Your practice, not a published supplier figure |
Two of the checks are easy to skip. Stock visibility matters because a luxury customer who falls for one scent expects to find it again. CSI publishes whether each size is in stock, not how many units, so for production quantities you still confirm on WhatsApp. On the pull date, nine premium oils had the 1 kg out of stock. Consistency on reorder is partly the supplier's job and partly yours. Keep a retained sample from each batch, and pour a reference candle from each new bottle before a production run. Both are general good practice, and they catch problems while they are still cheap.
What CSI publishes, and what it quotes
Being precise about this saves arguments later. Published on the store: prices for every listed size, 15 g to 1 kg per oil (41 premium oils, 32 in stock at 1 kg), stock status by size, and prices for waxes, wicks, jars, dyes and moulds. Available on request on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926): MSDS and IFRA documentation, GST invoicing, quotes beyond the listed packs, restock dates, and whether a quantity is available. Not published anywhere in our data: a volume discount percentage, a minimum order (the smallest in-stock size is effectively the minimum), free-shipping thresholds, delivery times, stock quantities, throw measurements, shelf life, and anything about exclusive or custom fragrance.
The practical upshot for a brand is to plan on listed prices and treat any quote as an improvement to check, not an assumption to build on. Work every quote out per gram and set it beside the listed ladder. For most premium oils the listed kilo already costs the same per gram as the 100 g. One of the biggest listed savings in the premium tier is Saffron Cedarwood and Sage and Cedarwood at 500 g (₹5.17 a gram against ₹6.87 for the kilo). Wholesale luxury fragrance oils works through the breaks oil by oil.

A first season of sourcing, costed
Here is an illustrative first season for a four-scent luxury brand, in three phases. The candidates, winners and volumes are assumptions for the example. The prices are listed prices. Every candle is 200 g in the signature build: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, a Cotton Braided wick and a White Matte Glass Jar.
| Phase | What you buy | Oil | Wax, jars, wicks | Phase total | Output |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 · Discovery | 8 candidates × 15 g, one 200 g test candle each at 7.5% | ₹1,065.84 | ₹1,726.00 | ₹2,791.84 | 8 test candles |
| 2 · Launch | 4 winners × 500 g, 30 candles each at 16 g (plus 1.25 spare) | ₹14,410.20 | ₹24,911.00 | ₹39,321.20 | 120 candles |
| 3 · First kilo | Best seller (Santal Noir) × 1 kg, 62 candles | ₹9,120.00 | ₹14,427.00 | ₹23,547.00 | 62 candles |
| Season | ₹24,596.04 | ₹41,064.00 | ₹65,660.04 | 190 candles |
Phase 1, discovery (₹2,791.84). Eight candidates at 15 g each: Santal Noir, White Royal Oud, Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine), Neroli Signature Grade, Vanilla Bean, Gilli Mitti (Patchouli), Saffron Cedarwood, Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon. They cost ₹1,065.84 together. Each scents one 200 g test candle at 7.5% (15 g oil, 185 g wax). Materials: 1 kg plus 500 g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (₹898.00) for 1,480 g of wax, two packs of White Matte Glass Jars (₹708.00) and a 10-pack of Cotton Braided wicks (₹120.00). Cure, burn blind, and pick four.
Phase 2, launch (₹39,321.20). Four winners, in this example Santal Noir, Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine), Vanilla Bean, Saffron Cedarwood, at 500 g each. That gives 31.25 candles per scent at 16 g, so 30 to sell and a little spare. The 500 g is the right size here. For Saffron Cedarwood it is also cheaper per gram than both the 100 g and the kilo. Materials for 120 candles: five 5 kg packs of Chunks (₹14,975.00, 25 kg for 22.08 kg needed), 24 packs of jars (₹8,496.00) and 12 packs of wicks (₹1,440.00).
Phase 3, first kilo (₹23,547.00). The best seller, here Santal Noir, moves to 1 kg (₹9,120.00, 62.5 candles). Materials for 62 candles: three 5 kg packs of Chunks (₹8,985.00), 13 packs of jars (₹4,602.00) and seven packs of wicks (₹840.00). The other three scents stay in 500 g until their sales justify a kilo. Buy 1 Kg Premium Fragrance Oils for Luxury Candle Production gives a months-of-cover rule for that decision.
The season buys materials for 190 candles for ₹65,660.04, before labour, packaging, freight and GST. That is an average of ₹345.58 a candle, including the test candles and spare. The first phase is only 4.3% of the spend, and it is the phase that decides whether the other 95.7% is well spent. Skipping it is the most expensive saving a new brand can make.
Sourcing the rest of the candle
A luxury candle is sourced as a whole. Oil, wax, wick and jar from one store means one build you can keep consistent and one GST invoice. It does not replace testing: the wax and wick decide how the oil behaves. Here are the luxury waxes from the CSI range, priced per kilo and by how many 200 g candles a pack makes at 8% (184 g of wax each).
| Pack | Price | Per kg | 200 g candles (184 g wax) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 g | ₹299.00 | ₹598.00 | 2.7 |
| 1 kg | ₹599.00 | ₹599.00 | 5.4 |
| 5 kg | ₹2,995.00 | ₹599.00 | 27.2 |
| 10 kg | ₹5,999.00 | ₹599.90 | 54.3 |
| Pack | Price | Per kg | 200 g candles (184 g wax) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 g | ₹325.00 | ₹650.00 | 2.7 |
| 1 kg | ₹650.00 | ₹650.00 | 5.4 |
| 5 kg | ₹3,185.00 | ₹637.00 | 27.2 |
| 10 kg | ₹6,370.00 | ₹637.00 | 54.3 |
| Pack | Price | Per kg | 200 g candles (184 g wax) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 g | ₹548.70 | ₹1,097.40 | 2.7 |
| 1 kg | ₹1,097.40 | ₹1,097.40 | 5.4 |
Coconut Wax sits between them at ₹513.30 for 500 g and ₹1,026.60 a kilo, also listed only to 1 kg. For wicks, Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are ₹12.00 each at every pack size, and Performance Wooden Wicks run from ₹59.00 each in 10s to ₹41.30 in 100s. Size either with a burn test in your jar, because wick sizing by diameter is not published here. For jars, the White Matte Glass Jar is ₹354.00 for 5, and the 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar with golden lug cap is ₹200.60 for 5 or ₹2,950.00 for 100. Its fill weight is not published, so weigh your own.
Sourcing inspired-by oils safely
CSI lists a group of oils modelled on well-known perfumes under the store's own titles, alongside a separate BBW Inspired range: for example Hawas Ice (Rasasi Inspired), Delina (Parfums De Marly Inspired) and Good Girl (Carolina Herrera Inspired). They sit at the top of the price list, from ₹9.08 to ₹24.06 a gram at 1 kg. Sourcing one is legitimate. Labelling your candle with the original perfume or designer name is a different matter. That name belongs to its owner, and using it on your label, product name or advertising can mislead customers and may infringe their rights. We are not giving legal advice. Take advice before using any third-party brand name commercially, and describe the scent in your own words.
| Pack | Price | Per gram | Candles at 16 g |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 g | ₹454.00 | ₹9.08 | 3.12 |
| 100 g | ₹908.00 | ₹9.08 | 6.25 |
| 1 kg | ₹9,080.00 | ₹9.08 | 62.50 |

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A sourcing page from a supplier is naturally a sales page. This one lists what we do not publish (discount percentages, minimum orders, delivery times, stock quantities, exclusive fragrance) and asks you to run the same checklist against every supplier, including us.
Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026, including the stock status of each size. Wick prices are from the 25 September 2026 pull, and the White Matte Glass Jar price is the one verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Phase totals and per-candle figures are plain arithmetic on those prices.

Non-price figures and assumptions: "Premium" = in-stock 1 kg at ₹6.50 a gram or more (32 oils), or dearest-available per gram of ₹6.50 or more where the 1 kg is unavailable (9 oils). The three-phase season is illustrative: 8 test candles at 7.5% (15 g oil + 185 g wax), 120 launch and 62 first-kilo candles at 8% (16 g oil + 184 g wax). Per-candle figures exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Fragrance-load ceilings of up to 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and up to 10% (CSI 464) are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits. No ceiling is quoted in this series for Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468, Coconut Wax or Soy Butter Wax, so 6–10% is used only as a labelled test range for those waxes. Retained-sample and reference-candle practice is general practice. Nothing on this page is legal advice. Prices and availability change, and the linked product pages are always authoritative.
