How many kilos a run needs

The table works the multiplication for 200 g candles, the size we use across this series, at the three loads we suggest testing. The last two columns give the 8% oil figure with a 5% allowance for pour loss and test burns (a working assumption, not a measured figure) and the wax needed at 8%. If your candle is a different size, scale in proportion. A 170 g fill needs 85% of these figures.

Two things follow. First, the load is a production decision, not only a scent decision. Settling on 10% rather than 8% adds a quarter to every oil order for as long as the candle is made. Settle it in testing, at the lowest load that fills your test room cleanly after a full cure. Second, a premium run needs whole kilos of each scent. A 250-candle run of one scent at 8% needs 4 kg, or 4.2 kg with the allowance. Four 1 kg packs plus two 100 g bottles covers it exactly, because for most premium oils the 100 g costs the same per gram as the kilo.

Load ceilings still apply at scale. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% and CSI 464 up to 10% by the wax maker. Those are formulation maximums, not targets and not regulatory limits. Batching a premium run

Manufacturers rarely pour a thousand candles in one melt. They pour batches sized to their melter and their team. Whatever your batch size, the recipe is the same proportion: oil is 8% of the total pour weight, wax is the rest. Weigh both. Do not measure oil by volume at production scale.

A 10 kg pour is a convenient unit for a premium run. It takes 800 g of oil and 9.2 kg of wax and fills 50 candles. A 250-candle scent is then five 10 kg pours, using 4 kg of oil. Keep the pour temperature, stirring time and cooling conditions the same for every batch of a scent. The wax, wick and oil can all be right and a run still comes out uneven if one batch was poured hotter or cooled in a draught. Record each batch against its oil bottles so any problem can be traced.

A 1,000-candle premium run, costed

Four premium scents, 250 candles each, 200 g at 8% in the signature build. The scents are chosen to cover four moods in one festive-season run: a vanilla floral (Vanilla Orange Blossom), a white floral (Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon), a resin (Midnight Bakhoor Royale) and a bright floral (Solar Bloom). Each needs 4 kg of oil, 4.2 kg with the allowance, bought as four 1 kg packs and two 100 g bottles.

The oil for the run costs ₹1,33,516.00. Vanilla Orange Blossom is the dearest, at ₹8.29 a gram, and has no 500 g listed. Solar Bloom is the cheapest here, at ₹7.50. The spread between them is ₹3,340.00 across 250 candles. At this scale, a quote on WhatsApp is worth requesting, because 16.8 kg of oil is well beyond what the listed packs were designed for. Remember that no discount figure is published, so budget at the listed prices and treat anything better as a bonus.

That is ₹333.72 a candle in materials, before labour, packaging, freight and GST. Of that, oil is ₹133.52, wax ₹116.81, wick ₹12.60 and jar ₹70.80. At volume, the jar is the line most worth putting to a quote. 200 packs of five is an unusual order for a listed pack, and CSI may be able to supply it differently. Ask. If your brand uses the 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar with golden lug cap, it is listed at ₹2,950.00 per 100 (₹29.50 each). Its fill weight is not published, so re-run the oil maths for your own fill.

Wax, wicks and jars at scale

Oil takes most of the attention, but at 1,000 candles the wax is 184 kg and the choice of wax pack and type matters. Here is how CSI's luxury waxes are priced per kilo across their listed packs:

Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 is the only luxury wax here with a real bulk break: ₹650.00 a kilo at 1 kg, ₹637.00 at 5 kg and 10 kg, which is 2.0% less. Coconut Wax and Soy Butter Wax are listed only up to 1 kg. For a 1,000-candle run, 184 kg of Coconut Wax at the listed price would cost ₹1,88,894.40, against ₹1,10,216.00 for Chunks. That is a 184-bag order of a 1 kg product, so if a natural-wax story is central to your brand, ask CSI on WhatsApp whether larger quantities can be supplied, and at what price. No ceiling for fragrance load is quoted in this series for either wax, so ask for that too.

Wicks at scale are straightforward. Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made cost ₹12.00 each at every pack size, so buy the 1,000-pack for handling and a 50-pack for test burns. Performance Wooden Wicks fall to ₹41.30 each in the 100-pack. A 1,000-candle run would need ten of them, ₹41,300.00, which adds ₹29.30 a candle over cotton. Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 are ₹5,900.00 for 1,000. Wick size for your jar diameter is not published in our data. Your pilot burn decides it, not a chart.

Supply and consistency at volume

Two risks grow with the run: running short mid-run, and candles from the same run smelling different. Both are manageable if you plan for them.

Running short. CSI publishes whether each size is in stock, not how many units are available. A product page showing the 1 kg in stock does not guarantee sixteen of them. For any run needing more than a few kilos of one oil, confirm the quantity on WhatsApp before you schedule production, and order the full run's oil in one go rather than as you pour. Premium oils with the 1 kg out of stock on the pull date, such as Into The Night (BBW Inspired) and Butterfly (BBW Inspired), are unsuitable for a scheduled run until a production size is confirmed.

Consistency. Combine each scent's bottles before pouring, pour in fixed batches, and keep a retained sample of the combined oil and one reference candle from the run. When you reorder for the next run, pour a reference candle from the new oil and burn it beside the old one before committing the batch. These are general practice, not CSI-specific procedures.
