The full spa per-gram ladder, every size

This is every spa-relevant CSI oil we would consider for a spa range, priced per gram at every listed size on 24 September 2026, sorted from cheapest to dearest at 1 kg. Per gram is simply the listed price divided by grams, to two decimals. All sizes shown are in stock on that date unless marked. Three things jump out. Eucalyptus Spearmint and Cucumber Green Tea sit well below everything else at bulk sizes. Jasmine, at ₹3.92 from 500 g, is the cheapest soft floral on this ladder by a distance. And the premium end of the table, Neroli, Sage and Cedarwood at 1 kg, and the perfume-grade Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon (that is CSI's own listing name, shortened to "Jasmine Coconut" elsewhere on this page; CSI is not affiliated with any spa or brand of that name, so do not use it on your own candle labels), costs roughly twice to two and a half times per gram what the cheapest fresh oils cost. That is not a reason to avoid them; it is a reason to know which candles in your range carry the expensive oils and to price them accordingly.

Three kinds of price ladder

Every oil on the ladder falls into one of three shapes. Knowing which shape an oil has tells you, before you do any maths, whether bulk is worth thinking about.

1 · Real savers: the kilogram is a genuine discount

Verbena (28.6% cheaper per gram at 1 kg than at 50 g), Eucalyptus Spearmint (27.8%), Lemongrass and Lime (21.2%), Ylang Ylang (19.6%) and Jasmine (14.7%). On these, twenty 50 g bottles cost noticeably more than one 1 kg: ₹1,888.00 more for Verbena, ₹1,180.00 more for Eucalyptus Spearmint, ₹1,400.00 more for Lemongrass and Lime. If one of these is a proven seller, the kilogram is the right buy.

2 · Near-flat: the kilogram buys convenience

Cucumber Green Tea (5.7%), Sandalwood (7.4%), Lavender (3.3%), Neroli (2.8%) and Sage and Cedarwood at 1 kg (3.0%). The saving per 150 g candle at 8% is small: ₹2.41 on Cucumber Green Tea, ₹2.15 on Lavender, ₹2.27 on Neroli. Several of these reach their bulk price at 100 g or 500 g and stay there. Buy the kilogram when it saves you a reorder, not because it looks like wholesale.

3 · Flat or inverted: the kilogram saves nothing

Palo Santo is ₹6.02 per gram at every size from 50 g to 1 kg (0.0%). Blue Ocean gets fractionally dearer as the bottle gets bigger: ₹4.94 at 50 g, ₹4.96 at 1 kg. Jasmine Coconut, a perfume-grade listing priced flat per gram, is ₹7.98 at 50 g and ₹8.00 at 1 kg. On these, the only reason to buy a kilogram is to avoid running out. We sell the 1 kg of all three. If you only need 300 g for the season, don't buy it.

"Dearer" means the kilogram costs more than the same weight in 50 g bottles. Every figure excludes freight and GST, and freight matters: one parcel is usually cheaper to ship than twenty. That is a real argument for the kilogram even on flat-priced oils, but it is an argument about shipping, not about the oil price, and you should ask for a freight quote rather than assume.

The cheapest spa oils and the best-value kilograms

If your spa line has to hit a price, these two are where the maths starts. Both are in stock at every size on 24 September 2026 and both pages state a candle load topping out at 10%. They also happen to be the two most recognisably "spa" notes in the range, which is convenient.

Two more oils earn a place in a wholesale conversation, not because they are the cheapest but because their kilograms are the best discounts on the ladder.

Put the two together and the gap to the rest of the range is clear. At 1 kg prices, a Lavender candle carries ₹25.84 more oil cost than a Eucalyptus Spearmint candle. Across a production run that matters; on a single candle it is a fraction of the ₹94.40 jar. Two fresh oils are cheaper than both at 1 kg: Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil (₹2.83 per gram) and Citronella Fragrance Oil (₹2.89 per gram). Neither is a spa scent: Citronella is a lemon-lemongrass herbal accord with its own associations, and Citrus Lemon is a bright citrus, "zesty lemon and lime top notes, bright grapefruit and orange heart, and a tangy mandarin finish", not a spa scent. Use it for a summer citrus candle, not to cut the cost of a spa line.

Where the price actually drops

A per-gram ladder has steps, and they are not in the same place for every oil. Buying one size below a big step wastes money; buying above the last step wastes cash flow. For each spa oil, here is where the biggest single per-gram drop happens.

Two rules fall out of the table. For Lemongrass and Lime and Jasmine, the 500 g and the 1 kg cost the same per gram, so the 500 g gives you the bulk price with half the stock risk. For Sandalwood, the bulk price arrives at 100 g; nothing larger is cheaper per gram. Neroli behaves the same way (₹6.66 from 100 g to 1 kg), and Palo Santo is flat from 50 g.

1 kg or two 500 g? Pack choice by oil

When you need a kilogram, you can usually buy it as one 1 kg bottle or two 500 g packs. On most spa oils the single kilogram is cheaper or identical. On Sage and Cedarwood it is much dearer. The table shows the difference for each oil and which way it runs.

Sage and Cedarwood is the outlier. On 24 September 2026 its 500 g costs ₹2,584.20 (₹5.17 per gram) and its 1 kg ₹6,867.60 (₹6.87 per gram): the kilogram is 33% dearer per gram, and two 500 g packs are ₹1,699.20 cheaper than one 1 kg. We are stating the listed prices, not guessing why. If you want a kilogram, ask us on WhatsApp before ordering. Blue Ocean is the other oddity: its 500 g and 1 kg cost exactly the same per kilogram, yet both are dearer per gram than its 50 g. Every oil's ladder has to be read on its own terms.

A worked example: 1.5 kg of Eucalyptus Spearmint

A spa brand needing about 1.5 kg of Eucalyptus Spearmint for a season (125 candles of 150 g at 8%) could buy three 500 g packs for ₹4,956.00, or one 1 kg plus one 500 g for ₹4,720.00, an average of ₹3.15 per gram. The mixed order saves ₹236.00. Two 1 kg bottles would cost more and leave 500 g on the shelf. The general rule: fill the biggest part of the need with the cheapest-per-gram size, and top up with the next size down.

The rest of the ladder: wax, wicks and jars

Wholesale buyers tend to assume everything gets cheaper in bulk. At CSI, for spa-candle materials other than oil, most of it does not.

The consequence: in a wholesale spa candle, the oil is the main material whose price you can move by buying bigger. Worked example, Eucalyptus Spearmint at 8% with everything bought at its largest listed pack (oil 1 kg, CSI 464 10 kg, jars in 20s, C1 wicks in 1,000s): ₹36.82 oil + ₹70.02 wax + ₹94.40 jar + ₹5.90 wick = ₹207.14. With the oil at its 50 g price instead, it is ₹221.30. The oil is 18% of the wholesale figure and the jar 46%. All figures exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. If the jar is the biggest line, it is also the first thing to ask about when you request a bulk quote.
