How do I know a fragrance oil is really cheap? Divide the price by the grams. A ₹68.44 15 g bottle is ₹4.56 a gram, which is ₹4,562.67 a kilo, dearer than many listed kilos. See the checklist.
Should I buy testers or full bottles? Testers first. Five 15 g testers cost ₹486.16. Buying the same five oils as 100 g blind costs ₹2,155.80, and any that do not work are money on the shelf. See testing vs buying blind.
What documents should an affordable supplier provide? A GST invoice, and an MSDS and IFRA certificate for each oil you sell in. Low price does not change what your retailers and gifting clients will ask for.
The affordability checklist
Most buyers compare fragrance sellers on the number they see first, which is the price of the smallest bottle. That number is designed to be low, because it is the smallest bottle. It tells you nothing about what the oil costs at production size, whether you can buy it again, or whether it comes with the paperwork your customers will eventually ask for. The table sets out the four checks, why each matters, how to run it on any seller's site, and the red flag to watch for.

The first check catches most false economies. On CSI's own catalogue, the cheapest bottle is Eucalyptus Spearmint 15 g at ₹68.44. That is ₹4.56 a gram, or ₹4,562.67 a kilo equivalent. The same oil's kilo is ₹3,068.00. Across the catalogue, the 15 g carries a median 23.1% premium per gram over the 100 g. So a seller whose testers look cheap may still be dear at production size, and a seller whose testers look dear may be cheap at the kilo. Citronella is the extreme example on our own list: ₹7.67 a gram at 100 g, ₹2.89 at 1 kg.
The second and fourth checks protect a new business from the two most expensive mistakes: building a range around a scent you cannot reorder, and buying production quantities of a scent you have not tested. The third check protects the business later, when a shop or a corporate client asks for documents. None of the four is about the cheapest price on the page, which is why a seller can pass all four without being the cheapest, and fail them while being the cheapest.
How CSI measures up

Where a seller falls short, there is usually a workaround. Testing vs buying blind
Here is the arithmetic of the fourth check. A new maker picks five value-tier oils for a first range. Route one buys all five at 100 g straight away. Route two buys five 15 g testers, pours test candles, and buys 100 g only of the three that pass. In this example two scents fail, which is not unusual when scents are chosen from a product page rather than a test burn.

Route two costs ₹1,791.24 and Route one ₹2,155.80, so testing saves ₹364.56 here. More importantly, Route one leaves ₹850.72 of oil you do not want on the shelf, 200 g of it. Route two leaves only the two used testers, ₹186.44 of learning. Both routes end with the same 300 g of proven oil. If all five scents had passed, testing would have cost ₹486.16 extra; if three had failed, it would have saved more. For a business still choosing scents, the tester premium is the cheapest insurance you can buy.

Three 100 g bottles make 18 full candles at 16 g each, with 4 g of each oil spare. Eighteen candles need 3,312 g of wax at 184 g each, so 3.5 kg leaves 188 g for pour loss; add a little more wax if you also pour the five test candles (at 7.5%, 15 g scents one 200 g candle). Twenty wicks and twenty jars cover the eighteen production candles with two spare; test candles need their own. Material cost excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST.
