Candle Fragrance Oil Price in India

The price ladder, 15 g to 1 kg

CSI lists oils in up to five sizes: 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg. Not every oil comes in every size. Fifty-one oils offer an in-stock 15 g. Newer and inspired-by oils often start at 50 g or 100 g, and a few, like Smoked Rose Royale and Sultan's Smoke, start at 100 g. The table below prices every size across the in-stock catalogue so you can see the whole range before looking at any single oil.

Two things stand out. The range inside each size is wide: roughly eightfold at 1 kg, from ₹2,832.00 to ₹24,056.00. The median per gram barely moves once you pass 15 g, from ₹6.84 at 50 g to ₹6.00 at 1 kg. Which oil you choose has far more effect on price than which pack size you choose. Price per gram — where the break really is

Dividing each pack price by its weight gives a price per gram, and that number exposes where the ladder bends. Here are three oils from three price tiers, each available in all five sizes:

Across the catalogue the pattern is consistent. Of the 55 oils that list both a 15 g and a 100 g, the 15 g carries a median 23.1% premium per gram. Between 50 g and 100 g the median difference is zero, and 52 of 86 oils sit within 1%. Between 100 g and 1 kg, 52 of 91 oils are within 1%, and only 24 show a 1 kg saving of 5% or more. The biggest of those is Citronella at 62.3%, followed by Honeydew Melon at 22.0% and Mango Coconut at 20.7%. A few oils run the other way: the 1 kg of Love Spell costs fractionally more per gram than its 100 g.

Price per candle

The working example throughout this cluster is a 200 g container candle at an 8% fragrance load: 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax. Wax is Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599.00 a kilo (₹110.22 for 184 g). The wick is an Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 at ₹5.90 and the jar a White Matte Glass Jar at ₹70.80. That gives a fixed base of ₹186.92 before any fragrance. The oil is then added on top, priced at its 1 kg rate:

Material cost here means oil, wax, wick and jar only. It excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST, which you add in your own costing. The point of the table is the last column. With a value oil, fragrance is about a fifth of what the candle costs to make. With the median oil it is about a third, and with a designer-inspired oil it is two-thirds. Two candles that look identical on the shelf can have material costs ₹339.58 apart, and that gap is almost entirely fragrance.

Each two-point step in load moves the median candle by about ₹21.60. Load is a performance decision before it is a cost decision. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%. Why one oil costs eight times another

Every fragrance oil is a formula: a blend of aroma materials in a carrier. Some profiles are cheap to build and some are not, and the catalogue shows it clearly. Sorting the 73 oils in stock at 1 kg into price bands gives this:

Fresh, fruity and simple citrus profiles cluster at the bottom. Rich gourmands, resinous woods and Indian florals sit in the middle-upper bands. Oils modelled on well-known perfumes sit at the top. Price does not measure how well an oil throws in your wax. A ₹3.07-a-gram rose and a ₹7.65-a-gram vanilla are doing different jobs, and both can perform well. The questions to ask are what your customer will pay for the finished candle and which tier protects your margin at that price. Buying at the right price

The ladder tells you how to buy, not only what to pay. For a business the sequence below keeps money out of unproven stock without paying the tester premium on proven sellers.

Here are three oils that show the three buying situations: a value oil with a real kilo saving, a best-seller priced flat above 50 g, and a premium gourmand where the fragrance is most of the candle's cost.

When the cheapest price costs more

Price per candle assumes the load is fixed. In practice makers raise the load when a candle seems weak, and that quietly changes the price. A median oil at 10% costs ₹119.98 per candle, more than Dark Vanilla at 8%. Before you blame an oil and push its load, check the wick and the cure. A pool that never reaches the glass releases far less scent at any load, and a candle tested at two days is not the candle your customer will burn. Get those right first, then decide whether the oil is worth its price.

The reverse also happens. A maker switches to a cheaper oil to save ₹40 a candle, customers notice, and the repeat orders stop. Test any price-driven switch in a side-by-side burn before it reaches a customer.
