How do I tell which tier an oil is in? By its 1 kg price per gram, converted to the oil in one candle, not by the 15 g price. Citronella's 15 g is one of the dearer testers at ₹141.60, yet at 1 kg it is one of the cheapest oils in the collection.
What can I make with it? At 7.5%, each 15 g makes exactly one 200 g candle. Five samples, 925 g of wax, five jars and five wicks give five full-size candles to compare. The whole set costs ₹1,576.84.

Is there a candle fragrance oil sample pack in India, and what should one contain?
CSI does not sell one. There is no fragrance sample pack, trial pack or discovery set in the store, so you build your own from the 15 g sizes that 51 oils offer. That turns out to be an advantage, because a pack you design can test the thing a fixed bundle never does: where your range should sit on price. Choose five oils, one per family, and spread them across production tiers. We set the tiers by the oil cost inside a 200 g candle at 8% when bought by the kilo: value under ₹65, mid ₹65–₹100, premium over ₹100. Why build it across tiers
A sample pack of five oils that all cost the same to produce answers one question. A pack spread across tiers answers two.
Most people choose samples by scent alone and discover the cost afterwards. That order causes trouble. A maker falls for a woody oil, launches with it, and finds that the oil alone costs more than twice what the value floral beside it does. The candles look the same on the shelf, but one earns far less margin at the same price. A pack spread across tiers puts that difference on the bench from day one, while it is still cheap to change your mind.
It also tells you something about your customers that no single oil can. If friends, family or early buyers cannot tell your premium candle from your value candle, you have learnt that your range can sit at the value end. If they can, and prefer it, you have learnt that a premium line is worth building and pricing for. Either way the answer cost ₹564.84, not a kilo of the wrong oil. Fragrances for a small brand and for a premium brand go further into range positioning.

Keep one oil constant between packs
If you run a second pack later, keep one oil from the first in it. British Rose is a good anchor. Burning the same oil in both rounds tells you whether a change in results comes from the new oils or from your wax, wick and room.Tier by the kilo, not by the tester
The 15 g price is the worst guide to which tier an oil belongs in. Some of the dearest testers are among the cheapest oils to produce with.
Sample prices do not track production prices closely. The 15 g carries a premium over the larger sizes that varies from almost nothing to more than double, so a tester's price is a mix of the oil's true cost and its packaging premium. The tier that matters for your business is set by the price you will actually produce at, which for a proven scent is the 100 g or 1 kg. Here is the gap for a few oils:

Citronella is the clearest case. Its 15 g, at ₹141.60, is dearer than most, yet its 1 kg is ₹2,891.00, which puts ₹46.26 of oil in a candle, the second-lowest in the collection. Mahogany Shea is similar: a ₹164.02 tester for a mid-tier oil. Going the other way, Juicy Orange has an ordinary ₹126.00 tester and sits in the premium tier at ₹119.98 a candle. If you tiered your pack by tester price, you would have Citronella in the premium slot and Juicy Orange in the middle, and your costings would be wrong from the start.
The costing error a sample pack can bake in. Pricing your candle range from the cost of the samples. At 15 g rates, the Santal Noir in this pack would put ₹177.07 of oil into a 200 g candle; at the 1 kg rate it is ₹145.92. Always cost from the size you will produce with. The CSI principle
The tester tells you the scent. The kilo tells you the tier.
Choose sample-pack slots by production cost, then judge the samples by scent. Doing it the other way round leaves you with a range whose margins you only discover after the first order.

Two value oils give you a realistic entry-level candle; two mid oils cover the core of most ranges; one premium oil shows what a signature candle could cost. Pouring the pack: five full candles
Fifteen grams is exactly one 200 g candle at 7.5%. For a sample pack, that is the most honest test there is: the real jar, the real wick, the real size.
Other guides in this cluster split a sample into small pots to compare loads. A sample pack has a different job, comparing oils against each other in the candle your customer will actually buy, so here each 15 g goes into one full-size 200 g candle at 7.5%: 15 g of oil and 185 g of wax. That is half a point below the 8% used for costing, which is fine for a like-for-like comparison. What a 15 g sample makes covers the small-pot load ladder if you want that too.

Cure for fourteen days, then burn in pairsBurn two at a time in similar rooms, two to three hours each, and swap. Note cold throw, hot throw at one hour, and any colour change. The scoring sheet gives a format.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We would sell more if this page told you to put five premium oils in your pack. For a first pack that is poor advice. A premium-only pack of Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine), Juicy Orange, Vanilla Bean, Saffron Cedarwood, Santal Noir costs ₹655.84 in 15 g sizes and tells you nothing about whether a cheaper oil would satisfy the same customer. The mixed pack costs less and answers the more valuable question.
Swaps and two other packs
The worked pack is a starting point, not a prescription. Each slot can be swapped for an oil in the same family. The table gives two in-stock alternatives per slot with their 15 g price, production cost and tier. Two of them, Gardenia and Peach Melon Berry, tip just over the ₹65 line into the mid tier, so if you use them in a value slot, swap another slot down to keep the spread.

Two other designs are worth knowing.
