What Should I Ask Candle Making Supplies India Before Buying Reed Diffuser Base, Fragrance Oils and Fibre Reeds for Commercial Manufacturing?
Share
What does CSI not publish? Base composition, viscosity, density, evaporation, flash point and shelf life; reed diameter; bottle neck size and fill line; lead times; lot numbers; IFRA % per oil.
What should I test myself? Clarity with your oil and load, base density, grams per day, blind throw, reed behaviour per pack, and cap and leak with your blend.
What is the smallest sensible cart? ₹2,003.46: two 100 g Pure Performance, three 15 g oils, 25 reeds, ten 50 ml bottles. See the cart.
The short version: what we can answer, and what we cannot
If you are about to manufacture reed diffusers commercially with our base, oils and reeds, you should ask us questions — and you should know in advance which answers exist. Some are already on our product pages: prices, pack sizes, what each base page says it is for, the 10–30% load range, the 24–48 hour rest, reed length and pack sizes. Some we can provide on WhatsApp: IFRA certificates and MSDS for fragrance oils, GST invoices, quotes above the listed packs, and expected dispatch dates. And some are not published at all, and no message to us will produce them: the composition, viscosity, density, evaporation rate, flash point and shelf life of our bases; the diameter of our reeds; the neck size and fill line of our bottles; lead times and lot numbers.
That third group is not a reason to avoid buying. It is a reason to test, and this page shows exactly which questions to send us, which to answer with your own bench, and how to turn the answers into a decision. Each section ends with a ready-to-send WhatsApp message. Nothing here promises a document we have not confirmed we hold; where a document may or may not exist — an SDS for a base, for example — the question is phrased as "is it available?"
Questions about the base
| Question | What CSI's pages state | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Which base for my fragrance family? | Pure Performance: all families. Lift: floral, citrus, green, fruity. Softness: soft florals, powdery, light gourmand. Depth: chypre, leather, smoky, rich gourmand. Longevity: amber, woody, resinous, spicy, gourmand; avoid light florals, citrus, aquatics | Shortlist from the pages; decide by a side-by-side test |
| What is it made of? | Not published for any CSI base | Do not assume DPG, Augeo-type or alcohol; test compatibility with your oil |
| Is there an SDS or technical data sheet? | Not stated on the pages | Ask whether one is available |
| What load does it take? | 10–30% on every base page; Pure Performance recommends 20%, typical 25% | Check the oil's IFRA Category 10A limit too — the lower wins |
| How long to rest before bottling? | 24–48 hours on every base page | Build it into your schedule and lead time |
| Density, viscosity, evaporation rate, flash point, shelf life? | Not published | Weigh 100 ml for density; measure g/day; keep retained samples |
| What sizes and prices? | 500 ml ₹1,099.00 (Longevity ₹1,296.00); Pure Performance also 100 g ₹325.00 | Ask for a quote above 500 ml — no volume discount is published |
| Is it in stock? | Five bases in stock on 14 October 2026; HyperDiffusion out of stock | Confirm before planning a launch around any base |
Two small page artefacts are worth knowing so they do not confuse you. The Lift and Softness listing handles still contain "ships 20th July" — a stale note from an earlier listing; both are in stock. And the base pages mention rattan reeds in places; CSI sells fibre reeds, not rattan. Neither changes the product, but your records should note them. For the base decision itself, start with the pillar which reed diffuser base to buy in India, base vs DPG vs Augeo-type vs alcohol for the carrier types, and what to check on the SDS and technical data sheet for reading documents when you have them.
Questions about the fragrance oils
| Question | What CSI publishes | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| What is this oil's IFRA limit for reed diffusers? | No IFRA % is published for any oil | Ask for the IFRA certificate; read the Category 10A limit |
| Can I have the MSDS? | Available on WhatsApp request | Request MSDS |
| What is the flash point? | Not on product pages | Read it on the MSDS; it is a transport and storage property |
| Is it suitable for reed diffusers? | No diffuser performance data for any oil | Test clarity in your base at your load, then performance |
| Which sizes are in stock? | Stock flags change; e.g. Japanese Cherry Blossom 15 g and 100 g only, White Royal Oud 15 g out, Sandalwood back in all sizes (14 October) | Check on the day you order; ask before a peak |
| Is the 1 kg cheaper per gram? | Rarely by much: most oils are priced close to linearly above 100 g | Buy big for stock security, not for a discount |
| Volume pricing above 1 kg? | Quoted on WhatsApp; no discount figure is published | Ask for a quote |
The IFRA certificate matters more for diffusers than many makers realise. Reed diffusers are listed under IFRA Category 10A in current IFRA amendments, as commonly summarised in suppliers' IFRA guides — confirm against the category descriptions on the certificate itself. The limit on that line applies to the fragrance concentration in your finished product, and it can be lower than the 30% maximum on our base pages. The lower of the two always wins. Determining the maximum percentage from supplier data and IFRA Category 10A covers how to read and apply it.
Questions about reeds and bottles
| Question | What CSI's pages state | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Fibre or rattan? | Fibre reed sticks, black or white — CSI does not sell rattan | — |
| Length and diameter? | 20.3 cm long; diameter not published | Compare packs yourself; weigh g/day with a new pack |
| How many per bottle? | Page guidance: 6–8 for a standard 50–100 ml bottle; more for stronger throw and faster diffusion, fewer for subtler and longer-lasting | A starting point to test, not a result |
| Pack sizes and per-reed price? | Black 25 ₹236.00 · 50 ₹400.00 · 100 ₹800.00 · 500 ₹4,000.00; white 25 ₹265.00 · 50 ₹450.00 · 100 ₹900.00 · 500 ₹4,500.00 | No further break after the 50-pack |
| Is the white listing white? | The white listing's text calls them "black fiber reeds" — a page inconsistency | Confirm colour on your order |
| Bottle sizes? | Variants 50 ml (₹826.00 / 10) and 120 ml (₹1,062.00 / 10); page text says "50 and 100ml" | Order by variant; weigh your fill |
| Neck size, fill line, reducer? | Not published; whether a reducer is included is not stated | Ask before ordering at scale |
The reed questions are where testing replaces asking. Two packs of fibre reeds can draw liquid at different rates, and with no published diameter the only way to know is to weigh a bottle reeded from the new pack beside one from the old pack for a week. Fibre versus natural rattan reeds explains the material difference, and how many fibre reeds to test in a 100 ml bottle covers reed count.
Questions about ordering commercially
For a commercial order the practical questions are about paperwork, quantity and timing. Here is what we can and cannot say in advance.
| Question | Answer | Message |
|---|---|---|
| GST invoice? | Yes — GST invoicing is available | Ask with your order |
| Minimum order? | No minimum is stated on the listed store; the smallest listed size is effectively the minimum per item | — |
| Quantities above listed packs? | Quoted on WhatsApp; no volume discount is published | Request a quote |
| How long will delivery take? | Lead times are not published | Ask for an expected dispatch date and record the actual |
| Lot numbers or certificates of analysis? | Not published | Record order dates; keep retained samples of every lot |
| Will the same base be available next year? | Not published | Keep a qualified second option and a reserve |
The evaluation cart, and what to do with it
Once the questions are answered, test the answers you could not get from us. The cart below is built from the smallest listed in-stock sizes: three oils that each have a 15 g in stock, Pure Performance in 100 g, the smallest reed pack and one pack of bottles. At 20%, each 15 g of oil makes exactly one 45 ml bottle (9 g oil + 36 g base) and one 30 g clarity sample (6 g oil + 24 g base) at an example density of 1.00 g per ml. Three oils need 180 g of base — two 100 g packs.
| Item | Need | Buy | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pure Performance Base 100 g | 180 g | 2 × 100 g | ₹650.00 |
| Lavender | 15 g | 1 × 15 g | ₹105.02 |
| Citrus Lemon | 15 g | 1 × 15 g | ₹81.42 |
| Bergamot Amber | 15 g | 1 × 15 g | ₹105.02 |
| Fiber Diffuser Reeds (Black) | 18 | 1 × pack of 25 | ₹236.00 |
| Gold Reed Diffuser Bottle 50 ml | 3 | 1 × pack of 10 | ₹826.00 |
| Evaluation cart | ₹2,003.46 | ||
| Same cart with one 500 ml base instead | ₹2,452.46 |
The seven spare bottles in the pack are your second round: a page-assigned base for any oil that disappoints in Pure Performance, or a load step for one that hazes. Sampling before a large order covers how much to test before committing, buying base and oil from the same supplier weighs single-supplier procurement, and qualifying a new base before switching a bestseller is the process if you are replacing another supplier's base.
The decision rule
| If this is true | It means | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| An oil's IFRA Category 10A limit is below your planned load | The load must come down for that oil | Reformulate to the limit before testing performance |
| A document you require is not available | A gap for your paperwork | Don't buy yet for that item, or choose another |
| An oil or base you depend on is out of stock or limited | Supply risk | Confirm on WhatsApp; plan a reserve or an alternative |
| A formula hazes in the clarity hold | Compatibility at this load | Step the load down or try the page-assigned base |
| Formulas pass clarity and your blind scores | Ready to plan | Order production quantities to your monthly plan |
| You still cannot answer "how long does it last?" | Not yet measured | Weigh to day 30 before making any life claim |

Choosing a supplier in general is covered in choosing a base supplier for consistency, documentation and availability. For the formula, the pillars are how much fragrance oil to add and how to make a 100 ml diffuser. The ₹10,000 starting budget is this section's hub, the reed diffuser QC checklist turns these answers into incoming checks, and the complete guide to starting a reed diffuser business ties every pillar together.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished diffusers. This page lists, in plain view, everything we do not publish about our own bases, reeds and bottles, points out inconsistencies on our own product pages, and recommends a smaller cart than we could sell you. We can provide IFRA certificates and MSDS for fragrance oils and GST invoices; we do not promise an SDS for any base until you have asked and we have confirmed it.
Diffuser base, reed, bottle and tool prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 14 October 2026. Fragrance-oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 14 October 2026. Every gram split, per-bottle cost, pack total and margin on this page is computed and shown to two decimals so you can check it; ml ↔ g conversions use a labelled example density because none is published.
Bottle counts per arm, rest and hold checkpoints, scoring scales, fill volumes, reed counts and every non-CSI cost are labelled working practices or examples, not industry standards. The 20% load, 45 ml fill, 30 g clarity sample, 1.00 g/ml density and 6 reeds per bottle are labelled examples. Non-price figures and assumptions: Load convention: fragrance load is a share of the TOTAL blend by weight (oil g = blend g × L; base g = blend g × (1 − L)). No density is published for any CSI base or oil, so every ml ↔ g conversion uses a labelled example density with its ±5% sensitivity; weigh 100 ml of your own blend to get yours. Labelled examples: 20% load, 45 ml fill in the 50 ml Gold bottle, 30 g clarity sample, density 1.00 g/ml (0.95 and 1.05 shown), 6 black fibre reeds per bottle. Reed diffusers are listed under IFRA Category 10A as commonly summarised in suppliers' IFRA guides — confirm on each certificate. What CSI's product pages state (quoted as claims to test, not CSI test results): Pure Performance — neutral, "no added fixatives, no complex enhancements", for all fragrance families, start at 10%, up to a maximum of 30%, 20% recommended, typical working blend 75% base + 25% fragrance, rest 24–48 hours before bottling, flip reeds after the first hour; Longevity — oriental/amber, woody, resinous, spicy and gourmand families, avoid light florals, fresh citrus and aquatics, slower "cold diffusion", reduce the percentage if clouding occurs; Lift — floral, citrus, green and fruity families; Depth — chypre, leather, smoky and rich gourmand; Softness — soft florals, powdery/musky and light gourmand; all four 10–30% with a 24–48 hour rest. Reed pages: 20.3 cm long; "for a standard 50–100 ml diffuser bottle, 6–8 reeds gives a good balance" (the page's guidance, not a test result). CSI does not publish the composition, viscosity, density, evaporation rate, flash point or shelf life of any diffuser base; no throw, longevity or evaporation data for any base, oil or reed; no reed diameter; no bottle neck size or fill line; no IFRA percentage for any oil; no lead times and no bulk base price. No CSI base is ranked above another on this page: the pages differ in what they say each base is FOR, and those statements are claims to test. CSI sells fibre reeds, not rattan, and does not sell DPG, Augeo, perfumer's alcohol or IPM. Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November.
