Best Candle Fragrance Oils Under ₹500

Candles per ₹500

For each of the 68 oils that can be bought for ₹500 or less, we worked out the most oil ₹500 buys, using any mix of that oil's in-stock 15 g, 50 g and 100 g packs. Then we turned grams into 200 g candles at an 8% load, which is 16 g of oil a candle. The oils fall into eight groups by how many grams ₹500 reaches. The table shows up to four examples per group, cheapest first, with the exact packs and the total spent.

Only one oil reaches 150 g: Citrus Lemon, as a 100 g and a 50 g for ₹470.00. Eucalyptus Spearmint reaches 130 g as a 100 g plus two 15 g testers. 7 more reach 115 g, six by adding a 15 g to a 100 g and Chocolate Fudge as two 50 g bottles plus a 15 g. 17 stop at exactly 100 g. From there the budget shrinks fast: the mid-priced oils reach 65 g or 80 g by mixing a 50 g with testers, and 23 oils, mostly premium and inspired-by, reach only a single 50 g. Two oils, Tangerine and Freshwater (BBW Inspired), reach only 30 g, two 15 g testers at ₹199.00 each.

The 100 g bottles under ₹500

If you already know the scent you want, one 100 g bottle is the cleanest way to spend ₹500. It is the size where most oils reach their production price per gram, and it scents 6.25 candles. These are all 25 in-stock 100 g bottles at ₹500.00 or less, cheapest first, with the change left from ₹500 and the oil cost in one candle.

Almost the whole list sits in the value tier, and the scent spread is wider than the prices suggest. There is citrus (Citrus Lemon, Grapefruit Oleo), fresh and green (Cucumber Green Tea, Eucalyptus Spearmint), fruit (Fresh Strawberries, Orchard Pear, Royal Apricot) and florals (British Rose, Jasmine, Gardenia, Japanese Cherry Blossom). Warm profiles are there too: Roasted Coffee, Woody Oud, Cinnamon Vanilla, Apple Cinnamon and Fallen Leaves. A small range can be built entirely from bottles on this list.

Four oils in the list are cheaper as two 50 g bottles than as one 100 g, by a rupee or so: Royal Apricot (₹366.00 against ₹367.00), Honeydew Melon (₹434.24 against ₹435.42), and Blue Ocean and Roasted Coconut (₹494.00 against ₹495.00). The saving is trivial. The useful part is that two 50 g bottles let you open one and keep one sealed. Chocolate Fudge is the reverse case: its 100 g is out of stock, so two 50 g bottles at ₹198.24 each are the only way to buy 100 g today.

The 50 g route into premium oils

Every oil above ₹5.00 a gram costs more than ₹500 for 100 g. Their 50 g, though, often costs under ₹500, and for most oils the 50 g is the same price per gram as the 100 g. That makes it a genuine small production size, not an overpriced tester. 65 oils have an in-stock 50 g at ₹500 or less. Here are ten from the middle and top of the range:

A 50 g bottle scents 3.12 candles of 200 g at 8%, or twelve 50 g test pots at 8% (4 g of oil each) with 2 g to spare. That is enough to test a premium oil properly and pour a first handful of candles for friends, a market stall or a gifting sample. Dark Vanilla at ₹410.00, White Royal Oud at ₹420.00 and Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) at ₹448.00 are all strong profiles to test this way. Santal Noir at ₹499.00 is the dearest 50 g that fits; its 100 g is ₹919.00, about 8% cheaper per gram, which is why the move to 100 g should come once the scent is proven.

Splitting ₹500

₹500 does not have to go on one oil. Three sensible ways to split it, each for a different stage of a candle business:

Plan A is for a maker who has not picked scents yet. Five testers at ₹417.50 give five one-candle trials, or fifteen 50 g test pots at 8% (4 g of oil each). That is enough to compare throw and choose. Plan B buys two scents at their production rate. Lavender's 50 g is ₹5.40 a gram, the same as its 100 g, and Royal Apricot's is ₹3.66, a paisa under its 100 g. Plan C is for a scent you already know sells. It is the cheapest per gram of the three and the least flexible. Shopping list

A complete first batch with the fragrance under ₹500: two 50 g bottles of Royal Apricot, and the wax, wicks and jars to pour all 6.25 candles' worth. Oil and wax are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026; wick and jar prices were verified on 10 September 2026.

100 g of oil at 16 g a candle makes six full candles with 4 g left over. Six candles need 1,104 g of wax at 184 g each, so 1.5 kg covers them with 396 g spare for pour loss and test burns. Ten wicks and ten jars leave four of each for the next batch. Material cost per candle is ₹245.48 (oil ₹58.56, wax ₹110.22, wick ₹5.90, jar ₹70.80), excluding labour, packaging, freight and GST. Swap Royal Apricot for any oil in the 100 g table and only the first line changes.
