Soy Candles · Bulk Manufacturing
At manufacturing scale the questions change. It is no longer which oil but how many kilos, against which wax ceiling, in which bag sizes, landing when. This page turns a soy production run into kilos and rupees you can put on a purchase order.
16 kg
fragrance oil per 1,000 soy candles of 200 g at an 8% load · 20 kg at CSI 464's 10% ceiling · 26 kg at the 13% ceiling of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks
Quick answers — read this first
How much fragrance oil do I need per 1,000 soy candles? At 200 g each: 12 kg at 6%, 16 kg at 8%, 20 kg at 10%, 26 kg at 13%. The wax is the rest: 188, 184, 180 and 174 kg. Allow 3–5% for pour loss.

What is the maximum fragrance load for bulk soy production? The wax sets it. CSI 464 is rated up to 10% and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, the wax makers' formulation maximums. No ceiling is quoted here for Natural Soy Pearl, so check the product page.

Is bulk soy wax cheaper? Only Natural Soy Pearl has a listed break: ₹450.00 a kilo at 1 kg, ₹424.80 from 5 kg up. CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilo at every size. Chunks are ₹599.00 at 1 and 5 kg, and the 10 kg bag works out at ₹599.90, slightly more.

How do I get a bulk price on fragrance oil? Listed packs go up to 1 kg per oil. For multi-kilo production orders, send your oils, kilos and dates on WhatsApp. No discount figure is published. Wholesale Fragrance Oils for Soy Candle Businesses covers the quote process.
The short answer
Per 1,000 candles: 200 g each: oil 2 kg per load point (12 kg at 6% to 26 kg at 13%). Per 100 kg of wax: 8.70 kg oil at 8%, 11.11 kg at 10%, 14.94 kg at 13%.
Ceilings: CSI 464 up to 10%, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%. Formulation limits from the wax maker, not regulatory. Natural Soy Pearl: check the product page.
Worked run: 2,000 candles, four scents at 8% in CSI 464: 34 kg oil (₹1,32,268.40), 390 kg wax, 2,000 wicks and jars. Total ₹4,83,554.40.

Each load point adds 2 kg of oil per 1,000 candles of 200 g. The dashed lines are the wax makers' stated maximums: CSI 464 stops at 10%, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at 13%. They are formulation limits, not targets. Most production runs sit well below them, at whatever load won the burn test.
Straight answer
How should a soy candle manufacturer plan bulk fragrance oil?
Plan in kilos against the wax's ceiling. For every 1,000 candles of 200 g, each percentage point of load is 2 kg of oil. So 8% is 16 kg, CSI 464's 10% ceiling is 20 kg, and the 13% ceiling of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks is 26 kg. The ceiling is a limit you may not pass, not a load to aim for. Run production at the load that won your burn test. On the oil side, listed packs go up to 1 kg, and for most oils the kilo costs the same per gram as 100 g. A few are genuinely cheaper in bulk, such as Jasmine (8.8%) and Fallen Leaves (10.0%). Anything beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp, and no discount figure is published. On the wax side, only Natural Soy Pearl has a listed break. A four-scent Diwali run of 2,000 candles at 8% in CSI 464 needs 34 kg of oil (₹1,32,268.40) and 390 kg of wax. With wicks and jars it comes to ₹4,83,554.40, or ₹241.78 a candle in materials.
One line: two kilos of oil per load point per thousand candles — then stop at your tested load, which is almost always below the wax's ceiling.
The worked run uses four oils with low per-kilo prices: Citrus Lemon ₹2,832.00, Jasmine ₹3,923.00, Fallen Leaves ₹4,248.00 and Cinnamon Vanilla ₹4,554.80 per 1 kg. Three of the four are among the 24 oils whose kilo is at least 5% cheaper per gram than the 100 g.

Kilos by load and wax

A manufacturer's fragrance question is a subtraction: total candle weight, minus wax, equals oil. Do it once per load and pin it above the melter.

Load is a percentage of the finished candle's weight. Oil = candle weight × load, and wax = candle weight − oil. For 1,000 candles of 200 g, that is 200 kg of finished candle. Each load point is 2 kg of oil and 2 kg less wax. The table runs every load from 6% to 13% and marks which soy waxes allow it. For wax-side planning, the oil per 100 kg of wax column is the one to use. If you buy wax by the bag and want to know how much oil each bag takes, that is the figure.

1,000 × 200 g candles · load = % of finished weight

For Natural Soy Pearl Wax we quote no ceiling in this series. Check the product page or ask us on WhatsApp for the wax maker's figure before planning production above the 6–10% range, which we show only as a labelled test range. Never plan above 13% in any soy wax on these pages. It is the highest published figure.

Candle weight scales everything. For 150 g candles, multiply the oil and wax figures by 0.75. For 300 g, multiply by 1.5. For a mix of sizes, sum the finished grams across all SKUs first, then apply the load. That is the one number your purchase order depends on. If you run different loads for different scents, which is common once burn tests show some oils peak lower, plan each scent separately.

Measure your real pour loss
Plan 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns as a working assumption. At 2,000 candles, the difference between 3% and 5% is 0.64 kg of oil and 7.36 kg of wax. After two or three production batches, weigh what you bought against what went into jars, and replace the assumption with your own figure.

The oil budget at each ceiling

The ceiling matters most as a budget line. A manufacturer who "might need to go higher" has to know what higher costs before buying the oil. The table prices a 2,000-candle run at three loads using one oil, Jasmine at its 1 kg price of ₹3,923.00 (₹3.92 a gram), to show the scale.

2,000 × 200 g candles · Jasmine at ₹3,923.00 / kg
What the ceiling costs if you run at it
Scenario Load Oil Wax Oil cost Oil per candle
Working load, either wax 8% 32 kg 368 kg ₹1,25,536.00 ₹62.77
CSI 464 ceiling 10% 40 kg 360 kg ₹1,56,920.00 ₹78.46
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ceiling 13% 52 kg 348 kg ₹2,03,996.00 ₹102.00

Going from 8% to CSI 464's ceiling adds 8 kg of Jasmine and ₹31,384.00 to the run. Going to the Chunks ceiling adds 20 kg and ₹78,460.00. With a premium oil at ₹8 a gram, multiply those gaps by about two. That money is only well spent if a burn test shows the oil still improving at the higher load. Strong fragrance oils for soy has a load-ladder test for exactly this.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A manufacturer running every scent at the wax's ceiling buys the most oil, and we are the ones selling it. We would still rather you did not. The ceiling is the most the wax can be formulated to hold, not a load that improves every oil. In general practice, many oils peak well below it, and in general practice oil above what the wax holds well risks sweating and a poor burn. Run the ladder, set a load per scent, and buy for that.

Buying wax by the bag

At 2,000 candles the wax bill is larger than the oil bill for value-tier oils, so bag choice matters. The run needs 368 kg of wax, 382.72 kg with a 4% allowance, so we plan 390 kg. Here are the options, priced from the listed bags:

390 kg of container soy wax · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Four ways to buy the wax for 2,000 candles
Wax Bags Cost Per kg Load ceiling
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 39 × 10 kg ₹1,97,886.00 ₹507.40 Up to 10%
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 78 × 5 kg ₹2,33,610.00 ₹599.00 Up to 13%
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 39 × 10 kg ₹2,33,961.00 ₹599.90 Up to 13% · costs ₹351.00 more than 5 kg bags
Natural Soy Pearl Wax 7 × 50 kg + 4 × 10 kg ₹1,65,672.00 ₹424.80 No ceiling in this data — check the product page

Three things to notice. CSI 464 is the same ₹507.40 a kilo from 1 kg to 10 kg, so bag size is only about handling. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks cost ₹351.00 more across 390 kg in 10 kg bags than in 5 kg bags, because the 10 kg is listed at ₹5,999.00 against two 5 kg at ₹5,990.00. And Natural Soy Pearl is the only soy wax with a bulk break, which puts its 390 kg about ₹32,000 below CSI 464. It has no published ceiling in this data, though, so confirm its maximum load and run your burn tests in it before switching a production line.

Wax choice should follow the burn test, not the price list. At 2,000 candles the gap between CSI 464 and Chunks is about ₹35,700, or about ₹17.86 a candle. That is real money. But if your tested load is 11%, CSI 464 is not an option at any price, because it is rated only up to 10%.

A 2,000-candle run, planned

Diwali is 8 November. A soy run that has to cure and ship before then is ordered in September or early October, not the week before.

The worked example is a festive soy run: 2,000 container candles of 200 g at 8% in CSI 464, 500 each of four scents. Each scent needs 8 kg of oil, or 8.32 kg with a 4% allowance. Eight 1 kg packs plus one 500 g give 8.5 kg per scent, 34 kg in all. The four oils cover citrus, floral, autumn and spiced-gourmand, which is a balanced festive range. Their per-candle costs are within about ₹28 of each other, so they can sell at one price.

200 g · 8% · oil at the 1 kg rate · CSI 464 ₹507.40 / kg · wick ₹5.90 · jar ₹70.80
Material cost per candle in the 2,000-candle run
Scent ₹/g at 1 kg Oil per candle Material cost per candle
Citrus Lemon ₹2.83 ₹45.31 ₹215.37
Jasmine ₹3.92 ₹62.77 ₹232.83
Fallen Leaves ₹4.25 ₹67.97 ₹238.03
Cinnamon Vanilla ₹4.55 ₹72.88 ₹242.94

Material cost here means oil, wax, wick and jar. It excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. At this scale, check the 500 g against the kilo for every oil. For Cinnamon Vanilla the 500 g costs ₹4.60 a gram against ₹4.55 at 1 kg, so the extra half-kilo costs about ₹23.60 more than half a kilo at the kilo rate. For Citrus Lemon, Jasmine and Fallen Leaves the two sizes are the same or within a paisa a gram.

From purchase order to batches

Kilos on a purchase order still have to become batches in a melter. The sequence below keeps a large soy run consistent and traceable.

1
Fix the load per scent from a burn testNot from the wax's ceiling. Record the tested load for each scent in your specification sheet: oil, wax, load, wick, cure.
2
Convert to a standard batchPick a melt size you can weigh accurately, for example 10 kg finished: at 8% that is 0.8 kg oil + 9.2 kg wax, which fills 50 candles of 200 g. A 2,000-candle run is then 40 batches, 10 per scent.
3
Order oil and wax together, with datesPrice at listed packs first (the shopping list below), then send the list on WhatsApp for a production quote with delivery dates. Ask for the MSDS and IFRA certificate for each oil in the same message.
4
Record the oil lot on every batchNote which bottle each batch drew from. If a customer reports a difference, you can trace it. Ask on WhatsApp whether multi-kilo orders of one oil can be supplied from a single lot. Do not assume either way.
5
Burn-test one candle from each batchOne candle per batch, cured and burned against a retained reference candle, catches a wrong load or a wrong oil before 50 candles ship.
6
Store oil sealed, cool and darkGeneral practice is to keep fragrance oils tightly closed, away from heat and light, and to use opened bottles first. A 34 kg order is a few weeks of production, not a year of stock.
The batch that smelled different. Halfway through a run, a maker opens a second kilo of the same oil, pours at 8% "by eye" from the jug, and the next fifty candles smell stronger. Nothing was wrong with the oil. The load was 9.5%. Weigh every batch, write the oil and wax weights on a batch card, and the problem disappears.

Leftover stock after the run: 0.18 kg of each oil (0.5 kg minus the 4% allowance) and about 7.3 kg of wax after the allowance (22 kg if your pour loss is nil), which is the start of the next batch.

The CSI principle
Two kilos per load point per thousand candles. Stop at the load that won the test.
Every soy production plan follows from that line. Sum the finished grams, apply the tested load, add your measured pour loss, and check the result against the wax's ceiling. Buy oil and wax for that number, and no more.
The ceiling is where the wax stops. Your load is where the oil stops improving. They are rarely the same number.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. On a bulk page the convenient advice would be to plan every scent at the wax's ceiling and buy the biggest bags. This page shows what the ceiling costs, points out that one of our own 10 kg bags costs slightly more per kilo than the 5 kg, and routes volume pricing to a quote rather than an invented discount.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from CSI live listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Jar and wick prices were verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Kilos, budgets, bag counts and totals are arithmetic on those prices, shown to two decimals so you can check them.

Load ceilings (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%) are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits. No ceiling is quoted for Natural Soy Pearl. The 200 g candle, 8% load, 4% allowance, 10 kg batch and storage guidance are working assumptions or general practice. For production quotes, lot questions, MSDS or IFRA certificates, message +91 7397976926 on WhatsApp.

Non-price figures and assumptions: Load is a percentage of finished candle weight; oil per 100 kg wax = 100 × load ÷ (100 − load). Per-candle material cost includes oil at the 1 kg rate, 184 g CSI 464, one Eco Thin C1 wick and one White Matte Glass Jar, and excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. The 4% allowance (within a 3–5% planning range), 10 kg batch, lot tracing and storage points are working assumptions and general practice. Load ceilings are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits. Kilo-saving figures (Jasmine 8.8%, Fallen Leaves 10.0%, Citrus Lemon 5.6%, Cinnamon Vanilla 5.9%) compare 1 kg with 100 g per gram. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
