A 15 g tester is enough to smell the oil cold and pour one small test candle; a 50 g pack is enough for a proper test batch — three 200 g candles, or four 150 g candles, at an 8% load. Pour every oil at the same loadUse 8% of the candle weight — 16 g of oil in a 200 g candle — so you compare the oils, not the recipe.

Cure before judgingLeave soy candles to cure before the first burn so the throw has settled. Judge cold throw on day one, hot throw after the cure.

Burn in a closed roomBurn for a couple of hours in a normal-sized room with the door shut, then walk in from outside. That is how a customer will meet it.

Write it downOil, load, wax, wick, pour temperature, cure days, throw score. The notes are what turn a 50 g test into a 1 kg decision.

What Delhi NCR changes about a first order

Delhi NCR is continental, with summer highs that routinely pass 45°C in May–June, a July–September monsoon and winter nights that fall to around 5°C in December–January. NCR is the hardest climate on this list for candles. A heavily loaded soy candle sweats in a May stockroom, and the same wax frosts and pulls from the glass in a January one. Formulate below the maximum and warm your jars in winter.

Leave headroom under the stated maximum: an 8% load that is fine in October can sweat in a 45°C storeroom in May. Karwa Chauth on 29 October and Diwali corporate gifting make October the heaviest ordering month, followed by the November–February wedding season.
