Luxury Candles · Hotel-style profiles
CSI does not sell any oil as hotel-inspired, and no oil here is claimed to match a hotel's scent. What we can do is describe the profile styles people usually mean when they say a candle smells like a hotel lobby, then map those styles to real, in-stock oils worth testing, and cost the candle.
₹897.64
for a six-oil test set covering three hotel-style profiles (clean woods, white tea and green, citrus-amber) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell hotel-inspired fragrance oils? No. No oil in the Fragrance Oils collection is listed or described as hotel-inspired, and we do not claim any oil matches a hotel's scent. This page maps the style people call hotel to oils worth testing.

What does a hotel scent usually smell like? People use the phrase for four broad styles: clean woods, white tea and green notes, fresh citrus over soft amber, and soft musk. They are clean, calm and not sugary. See the four styles.

Which CSI oils are worth testing for a hotel-style candle? For clean woods, Sage and Cedarwood and Santal Noir. For tea and green, Cucumber Green Tea and Verbena. For citrus-amber, Bergamot Amber and Neroli Signature Grade. For musk, ask on WhatsApp which oils list it in their notes.

Can I call my candle "inspired by" a hotel? Be careful. A hotel's name and brand belong to the hotel. Using it on your label or in advertising can create legal risk, so take advice first. Describe the style instead: "clean cedar and white tea".
The short answer
The honest position: CSI lists no hotel-inspired oils. The oils below are profiles worth testing for a clean, calm "hotel-style" brief, grouped by title. None is claimed to match any hotel.
Four styles: Clean woods: Sage and Cedarwood ₹6.87/g, Santal Noir ₹9.12/g · Tea and green: Cucumber Green Tea ₹3.33/g · Citrus-amber: Bergamot Amber ₹5.44/g, Neroli Signature Grade ₹7.60/g · Musk: ask.
Cost: Six-oil test set ₹897.64. 200 g candle at 8%: ₹246.26 (Cucumber Green Tea) to ₹338.94 (Santal Noir) in materials.
Four profile styles people call "hotel" — and in-stock CSI oils worth testing for each Clean woods Sage and Cedarwood ₹6.87/g at 1 kg Santal Noir ₹9.12/g at 1 kg Palo Santo ₹6.02/g at 1 kg Sandalwood ₹5.03/g at 1 kg White tea and green Cucumber Green Tea ₹3.33/g at 1 kg Verbena ₹4.72/g at 1 kg Lemongrass and Lime ₹5.20/g at 1 kg Fresh citrus-amber Bergamot Amber ₹5.44/g at 1 kg Neroli ₹6.66/g at 1 kg Neroli Signature Grade ₹7.60/g at 1 kg Orange No.3 ₹8.03/g at 1 kg Soft musk No oil is titled musk in the collection. Ask CSI which oils list musk in their notes, then test them like any other candidate. Grouped by oil title. None is sold or described by CSI as hotel-inspired, and none is claimed to match any hotel's scent.
Oils are grouped by what their titles name, with the per-gram price at the in-stock 1 kg (CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026). This is a map of candidates to test, not a claim about how any oil smells in your candle, and not a match to any hotel. The musk quadrant is empty on purpose. No oil is titled musk, and we would rather send you to ask than guess.
Straight answer
Which fragrance oils should a luxury brand use for a hotel-inspired candle?
Start with a plain fact: CSI does not sell any oil as hotel-inspired, and nobody can honestly promise that a catalogue oil matches a particular hotel's scent. What a hotel-style brief usually asks for is a style: clean, calm, diffuse and not sugary. People describe four versions of it. Clean woods: worth testing Sage and Cedarwood (₹6.87 a gram at 1 kg), Santal Noir and Palo Santo. White tea and green: CSI has no white tea oil, so the nearest by title is Cucumber Green Tea (₹3.33), with Verbena alongside. Fresh citrus over amber: Bergamot Amber (₹5.44) and Neroli Signature Grade. Soft musk: no oil is titled musk, so ask on WhatsApp which oils list it in their notes. A six-oil test set across the first three styles costs ₹897.64. Sell the result by describing the style, never by naming a hotel.
One line: test the style, not a brand, and describe it on your label in your own words.
Two ends of the hotel-style spectrum, both with 15 g testers: Bergamot Amber at ₹105.02 for a bright citrus-amber and Palo Santo at ₹106.20 for a pale, clean wood. That is ₹211.22 for two 200 g test candles at 7.5%.

What people mean by a hotel scent

"Make it smell like a hotel" is a brief about mood, not a formula. Translate the mood into a style, then test oils against it.

When customers ask for a candle that smells like a hotel, they rarely mean a specific building. They mean a feeling: walking into a quiet, clean space where the scent is there but never loud. The scents that give that feeling tend to share a few traits. They are dry rather than sweet, they diffuse evenly, and they sit comfortably in the background for hours. Gourmand notes, heavy florals and sugary fruits are usually absent. That gives you something to test against.

Four profile styles cover most of what people describe. None is a CSI product category, and CSI does not describe any oil as hotel-inspired. The table maps each style to in-stock oils whose titles name those notes. Treat them as profiles worth testing, not as matches.

In-stock oils grouped by title · per gram at 1 kg · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Four hotel-style profiles, mapped to real oils
Profile style What people usually mean In-stock oils worth testing Oils in stock?
Clean woods Dry cedar, sandalwood and pale woods; calm, not smoky or sweet Sage and Cedarwood ₹6.87 · Santal Noir ₹9.12 · Palo Santo ₹6.02 · Sandalwood ₹5.03 Yes
White tea and green Light, airy tea and green notes; nothing sugary Cucumber Green Tea ₹3.33 · Verbena ₹4.72 · Lemongrass and Lime ₹5.20 Yes
Fresh citrus-amber Bright citrus opening over a soft warm base Bergamot Amber ₹5.44 · Neroli ₹6.66 · Neroli Signature Grade ₹7.60 · Orange No.3 ₹8.03 Yes
Soft musk Skin-like, clean, diffuse; rarely named on its own No oil in the collection is titled musk. Ask on WhatsApp which oils list musk in their notes, then test those. Ask first

A few honest gaps. CSI has no white tea oil. Cucumber Green Tea is the nearest by title, a green tea paired with cucumber. It is also one of the lowest-cost oils in the collection at ₹3.33 a gram at 1 kg, so a hotel-style brief does not always mean a premium oil. No oil is titled musk either. Musk often sits inside other formulas rather than on its own, but the oil titles do not tell us which. Ask CSI on WhatsApp which oils list musk in their notes, and read each product page. Do not assume.

The clean-wood group spans a wide price range. Sandalwood costs ₹5.03 a gram at 1 kg and Santal Noir ₹9.12. Sage and Cedarwood and Palo Santo sit between them at ₹6.87 and ₹6.02. Put the cheaper oils in your test. A hotel-style candle is judged by how calm and clean it feels in a room, and the dearer oil does not automatically win that. The luxury hub lists the full premium tier if you want more candidates.

Write the brief before you smell anything
Put the style into three or four words your testers can score against: "dry, clean, calm, not sweet". Then score every test candle against those words, not against "do I like it". Hotel-style scents are often not the ones people love on first sniff. They are the ones people stop noticing after ten minutes and miss when they are gone.

Testing a hotel-style shortlist

Because there is no published measurement of throw or "hotel-ness" for any oil, the only way to choose is a side-by-side test. Here is a six-oil set covering the first three styles, two candidates each, bought at each oil's smallest in-stock size.

Smallest in-stock sizes · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Six-oil hotel-style test set
Oil Size Price 200 g test candles at 7.5–8%
Sage and Cedarwood 50 g ₹354.00 3 (at 6%, 7%, 8%)
Palo Santo 15 g ₹106.20 0.94
Cucumber Green Tea 15 g ₹93.22 0.94
Verbena 15 g ₹106.20 0.94
Bergamot Amber 15 g ₹105.02 0.94
Neroli Signature Grade 15 g ₹133.00 0.94
Total ₹897.64

Sage and Cedarwood starts at 50 g (₹354.00), so use it to test load as well: three 200 g candles at 6%, 7% and 8% take 12 g, 14 g and 16 g. Each 15 g scents one 200 g candle at 7.5%. Add a control from an oil you already sell, and pour everything in the same build. For hotel-style candles, the build tends to be understated: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks in a White Matte Glass Jar, with a Cotton Braided wick. Musk candidates can join the test once CSI has told you which oils carry it.

1
Write the style briefThree or four words per style, for example "dry, pale wood, calm" for clean woods. Every tester scores against these.
2
Pour the set in one buildSame wax, wick, jar and load. Code the candles with letters, not oil names, so price and title do not steer the score.
3
Cure fullySoy and coconut-soy candles are commonly cured for one to two weeks before a fair judgement. Hotel-style scents are subtle, so an uncured test flatters nothing.
4
Test in a larger roomHotel-style candles are expected to scent a living room or a shop floor, not a cupboard. Burn for a set time in the largest room you can, then score at the door and at the far wall.
5
Score the fade as well as the peakNote how the scent reads after two hours as well as after twenty minutes. The calm, even candle usually wins this brief, even if another oil was brighter at first.
6
Cost and shortlistPut the winners through the per-candle table below. If you need more complexity, Complex Fragrance Oils for Premium Scented Candles covers layering two oils into one accord.
The test that picked the loudest oil. A maker tests six candidates, and the brightest citrus wins because it hits hardest in the first five minutes. A month later customers say the candle gives them a headache in a small room. For a hotel-style brief, loud is usually the wrong target. Score the calm and the fade, and test at the load you will sell, not the highest load the wax allows. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% by the wax maker, but that is a ceiling, not a recommendation.

What a hotel-style candle costs

Once you have a winner, cost it. The table keeps the signature build (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, a Cotton Braided wick and a White Matte Glass Jar) and changes only the oil, at its 1 kg rate. The last column shows the oil alone for an illustrative 400 g candle. CSI does not list a three-wick jar, so a larger candle means your own vessel and your own wick test.

200 g candle at 8% (16 g oil) · signature build · 400 g column oil only (32 g), illustrative
Hotel-style candidates, costed per candle
Oil ₹/g at 1 kg Oil per 200 g candle Material cost, 200 g Oil per 400 g candle
Sage and Cedarwood ₹6.87 ₹109.88 ₹302.90 ₹219.76
Santal Noir ₹9.12 ₹145.92 ₹338.94 ₹291.84
Cucumber Green Tea ₹3.33 ₹53.24 ₹246.26 ₹106.48
Bergamot Amber ₹5.44 ₹86.99 ₹280.01 ₹173.98
Neroli Signature Grade ₹7.60 ₹121.58 ₹314.60 ₹243.17

The spread is wide: from ₹246.26 for a Cucumber Green Tea candle to ₹338.94 for Santal Noir. That is useful. A hotel-style range can sit at a luxury price because of how it looks and feels, not because every scent is premium. If Cucumber Green Tea wins your tea-style test, you have ₹92.68 a candle to spend on the vessel, packaging or margin. Material cost excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We could present the dearest woods as the hotel answer. For a clean, calm brief, the premium tier has no special claim. Sandalwood at ₹5.03 a gram and Cucumber Green Tea at ₹3.33 belong in the test beside Santal Noir at ₹9.12. If a cheaper oil gives the calmer candle, sell that one. The customer is paying for the feeling in the room.

Names, labels and inspired-by oils

You can sell a hotel-style candle. You cannot borrow the hotel.

Hotel names, and the names of their signature scents, are brands that belong to their owners. Putting one on your label, or advertising a candle as smelling like a named hotel, can mislead customers and may infringe the owner's rights. We are not giving legal advice. If you are unsure, take advice before you use any third-party name. The safe and more distinctive route is to describe the style in your own words: "clean cedar and sage", "green tea and cucumber", "bergamot over soft amber".

The same caution applies to CSI's inspired-by perfume oils. The store lists oils under titles such as Hawas Ice (Rasasi Inspired), Delina (Parfums De Marly Inspired) and 9 PM (Afnan Inspired). Those are the store's own product titles, and we quote them as listed. Some buyers test inspired-by oils for fresh or musky hotel-style briefs. That is a legitimate test. But the perfume house or designer name in the title is someone else's brand. Do not carry it onto your own label, product name or advertising, and take advice before using any third-party brand name commercially. They are also among the dearest oils in the collection: Hawas Ice (Rasasi Inspired) costs ₹9.08 a gram at 1 kg.

Selling to hotels and hospitality buyers
If you supply candles to a hotel, spa or restaurant, the buyer will usually ask for safety documents. Ask CSI for the MSDS and IFRA documentation for every oil you use, with a GST invoice. Agree in writing how the candle will be named and labelled, especially if the buyer wants its own name on it. That is between you and the buyer, not something a supplier's catalogue settles.
The CSI principle
Describe the style. Never borrow the name.
A hotel-style candle is built from a clear brief (clean, calm, diffuse), tested blind in a large room, and sold under a description that is yours. The oils are catalogue products anyone can buy. The brief, the testing and the name are what make the candle your own.

A three-scent hotel-style range

Here is a worked range, one scent per style from the three styles with oils in stock: Bergamot Amber for citrus-amber, Sage and Cedarwood for clean woods and Cucumber Green Tea for tea and green. Forty 200 g candles of each at 8% need 640 g of oil per scent, or 672 g with a 5% allowance (a working assumption). A 500 g plus two 100 g covers each. For Sage and Cedarwood, the 500 g in that combination is also its cheapest size per gram: ₹5.17, against ₹6.96 for the 100 g and ₹6.87 for the kilo.

That is ₹35,095.04 for 120 candles, or ₹292.46 a candle in materials, before labour, packaging, freight and GST. The Cotton Braided wicks cost ₹12.00 each at every pack size, so the 100-pack at ₹1,200.00 plus two 10-packs would cost the same. Buy whichever is easier to store. If a musk candidate wins its test later, add it as a fourth scent at the same volume.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A page with this title could easily imply that certain oils smell like certain hotels. We do not know that, CSI does not list any oil as hotel-inspired, and we say so at the top. Every oil here is a profile worth testing, grouped by its title. Two of them are among our lowest-cost oils.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick prices are from the 25 September 2026 pull, and the White Matte Glass Jar price is the one verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Per-candle and range totals are plain arithmetic on those prices.

The four profile styles are descriptions of how people commonly use the word "hotel" for a scent, not measurements. The 200 g candle, 8% load and three-scent range are working assumptions, and the 400 g figure is illustrative. Nothing here is legal advice on naming or labelling. For oil notes, MSDS and IFRA documentation, or help finding musk candidates, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

What fragrance oil smells like a luxury hotel?
No catalogue oil can honestly be promised to smell like a particular hotel, and CSI lists none as hotel-inspired. The style people mean is clean, calm and not sweet. Worth testing: Sage and Cedarwood, Santal Noir or Palo Santo (clean woods), Cucumber Green Tea (tea and green), Bergamot Amber or Neroli Signature Grade (citrus-amber).
Does CSI have a white tea fragrance oil?
No. The nearest by title is Cucumber Green Tea, which costs ₹93.22 for 15 g and ₹3,327.60 for 1 kg. Verbena and Lemongrass and Lime are other light, green candidates to test alongside it.
Which fragrance oils have musk notes?
No oil in the collection is titled musk, and the titles do not tell us which formulas contain it. Ask CSI on WhatsApp which oils list musk in their notes, and check each product page before you test.
Can I sell a candle as inspired by a famous hotel?
Using a hotel's name on your label or in advertising can mislead customers and may infringe the owner's rights, so take advice first. The safer route is to describe the style in your own words, for example "clean cedar and green tea".
Can I use designer-inspired oils for a hotel-style candle?
You can test them. CSI lists them under the store's own titles, such as Hawas Ice (Rasasi Inspired). Do not put the perfume or designer name on your own label or marketing. It belongs to someone else, so take advice before using any third-party brand name.
How much does a hotel-style luxury candle cost to make?
In a 200 g candle at 8% with Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, a Cotton Braided wick and a White Matte Glass Jar: ₹246.26 with Cucumber Green Tea, ₹280.01 with Bergamot Amber, ₹338.94 with Santal Noir. Labour, packaging, freight and GST are extra.
Brief the style, test, then name it yourself
Clean woods, tea and green, citrus-amber, soft musk: test the style in your own room and sell it under your own words.
In-stock oils for three of the four styles from ₹93.22 for 15 g, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks from ₹299.00, Cotton Braided wicks at ₹12.00 each and White Matte Glass Jars at ₹354.00 for 5. Ask us which oils list musk and we will check.

Non-price figures and assumptions: The four "hotel" profile styles describe common usage of the word, not measured scent data. No throw measurements are published for any oil. Per-candle figures assume a 200 g candle at 8% (16 g oil + 184 g wax) in the signature build; the 400 g column is illustrative, and no three-wick jar is listed. The 120-candle range and 5% allowance are working assumptions. Material cost excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. Fragrance-load ceilings of up to 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and up to 10% (CSI 464) are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits. No ceiling is quoted in this series for Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468, Coconut Wax or Soy Butter Wax, so 6–10% is used only as a labelled test range for those waxes. Curing times are general practice. Nothing on this page is legal advice. Prices and availability change, and the linked product pages are always authoritative.
