How to Consolidate Fragrance Oil Purchasing With One Supplier
Share
What are the benefits of consolidating fragrance oil purchasing? Fewer orders and deliveries to manage, one GST invoice trail, one set of MSDS and IFRA documents, one relationship to agree terms with, and a larger single order you can ask to have quoted. Lower prices are not guaranteed; no volume discount is published.
What are the risks of using one fragrance oil supplier? One stockout hits you with no alternative ready. On the 24 September 2026 pull, 7 CSI oils were in stock at only one size and 7 at none. See the risks and their mitigations.
Can CSI supply everything for a candle order? CSI lists fragrance oils, container waxes, wicks, jars and tools, which covers the raw-materials bill for a container candle. Labels, boxes and outer packaging are outside the range covered here. See the coverage audit.
What consolidation actually buys you
A small candle business often ends up with several vendors by accident: fragrance from one because it had a scent the other lacked, wax from a second because it was cheaper that month, jars from a third, wicks wherever they were in stock. Each vendor adds its own order to place, its own delivery to receive, its own invoice to file, its own lead time to learn and its own paperwork to chase. None of that is visible on a price list, and all of it costs time every month. Consolidation is the decision to move most of that onto one supplier.
| Area | What you gain | What you concentrate | How to cover it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordering | One order a month instead of several | One order late means everything late | Order on a fixed day; hold reserves on A scents |
| Paperwork | One GST invoice trail; one MSDS and IFRA file | Documents depend on one relationship | Collect every document up front; file by oil name |
| Stock | One stock check before each order | A gap in one catalogue has no ready fallback | Choose A scents stocked at two sizes; keep a tested backup |
| Price | One combined order you can ask to have quoted | Less day-to-day price comparison | Re-check a few benchmark lines each quarter |
| Planning | One lead time to learn and record | One lead time to depend on | Record real dates; size safety stock on them |
| Terms | One set of terms to agree | Your leverage rests on one relationship | Get terms in writing; review twice a year |
Notice what is not in the gains column: a guaranteed lower price. On CSI's listed catalogue most oils are priced flat per gram from 100 g to 1 kg, and no volume discount figure is published. A consolidated order is simply a bigger single order, which you can send on WhatsApp and ask to have quoted, and whatever answer comes back is the answer. If lower cost is the main reason you want to consolidate, read My Candle Business Uses 5–10 Kg of Fragrance Oil Every Month — Should I Negotiate Wholesale Pricing or Buy Larger Packs? and I'm Scaling My Candle Business and Fragrance Oil Is One of My Biggest Raw-Material Costs — How Can I Buy More Efficiently Without Sacrificing Performance? first, because the levers there are different.
What it concentrates, and how to cover it
The main risk of one supplier is easy to state: when they cannot supply a line, you have no order already running elsewhere. How likely that is depends on how deep their stock is on the lines you need. On CSI's 24 September 2026 pull, 47 oils were in stock at every listed size — very little single-supplier risk there. But 7 oils were in stock at only one size, and 7 had nothing in stock at all. A scent from that second group is a weak candidate for a consolidated range without a backup plan.
| Oil | Sizes in stock | Sizes out of stock | Exposure | Cover |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Verbena | 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg | None | Low | Standard reorder point |
| Cinnamon | 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg | None | Low | Standard reorder point |
| Midnight Bakhoor Royale | 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg | None | Low | Standard reorder point |
| Neroli | 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg | None | Low | Standard reorder point |
| Sacred Sandal Ember | 500 g | 100 g, 1 kg | High — one size only | Sealed reserve + tested backup |
| Ylang Ylang Flower | 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg | None | Low | Standard reorder point |
Sacred Sandal Ember is the exposed line here. Only its 500 g was in stock on the pull date; the 100 g and 1 kg were out of stock. If the 500 g also goes, there is no smaller or larger size to route around it at the same supplier. It can still be in a consolidated basket, but it should carry a sealed reserve and, if it is a best-seller, a backup you have already tested. How to Avoid Running Out of Best-Selling Candle Fragrances covers dual-size buffering and fallbacks for exactly this situation.
Can one catalogue cover the order?
Consolidation only works if the supplier actually lists what you buy. Here is a container-candle bill of materials checked against the CSI items priced in this series. Prices for oils and wax are from the 24 September 2026 pull; wick, jar and tool prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026.
| BOM line | Listed at CSI | Example sizes and prices | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fragrance oil | Yes — 93 oils, 86 with stock | 15 g from ₹68.44 · 1 kg from ₹2,832.00 | 73 in stock at 1 kg; 60 at both 500 g and 1 kg |
| Container wax | Yes — four soy waxes priced here | CSI 464 ₹507.40/kg · Chunks ₹599.00/kg · Soy Pearl ₹424.80/kg at 5 kg · CSI 468 ₹650.00/kg | Load ceilings: Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10% (wax makers' maximums) |
| Wicks | Yes | Eco Thin C1 ₹590.00 / 100 · Eco Thick C2 ₹944.00 / 100 · Cotton braided ₹12.00 each | Match wick to jar diameter by test burn |
| Jars | Yes | White Matte Glass Jar ₹354.00 for 5 | More styles in the Containers collection |
| Tools | Yes | Wick centering device ₹118.00 / 5 · scale ₹354.00 · pen thermometer ₹354.00 | Mostly one-off purchases |
| Labels, boxes, outer cartons | Outside the range covered here | — | Source separately; check the store for accessories |
For a container candle, the whole raw-materials bill can come from one catalogue. Two practical notes. First, wax, wicks and jars keep well and are bought less often than oil; consolidating them does not mean buying them monthly, only on the same supplier. Second, the per-kilo price of wax does not always fall with bag size: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are ₹599.00 a kilo at 5 kg and ₹599.90 at 10 kg, CSI 464 is ₹507.40 at every size, and only Natural Soy Pearl Wax has a real break, from ₹450.00 at 1 kg to ₹424.80 at 5 kg and above. Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 has no fragrance ceiling quoted in this series; check its product page before loading it.
Consolidating step by step
A note on switching: this page is about the decision to consolidate and how to do it safely. If you are specifically weighing a move from your current fragrance vendor to a new one, the checks to run before the switch are set out in I Want One Supplier for All My Candle Fragrance Oils Instead of Ordering From Multiple Vendors — What Should I Check Before Switching?, and choosing a supplier you can test with and then scale on is covered in I Need Fragrance Oils That I Can Test in 100 g and Later Reorder in 1 Kg, 5 Kg and Larger Quantities — How Should I Choose a Supplier?.
The consolidated monthly basket
Here is one month for a maker pouring 270 container candles of 200 g at an 8% load (16 g oil, 184 g wax), all on one CSI order. Six oils make up 4.5 kg, which covers 270 candles with a 4% allowance for pour loss and test burns (4.49 kg needed). The allowance is a working assumption within the usual 3–5%.
| Item | Quantity | Unit price | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verbena Fragrance Oil | 1 × 1 kg | ₹4,720.00 | ₹4,720.00 |
| Cinnamon Fragrance Oil | 1 × 1 kg | ₹5,310.00 | ₹5,310.00 |
| Midnight Bakhoor Royale Fragrance Oil | 1 × 1 kg | ₹7,999.00 | ₹7,999.00 |
| Neroli Fragrance Oil | 1 × 500 g | ₹3,327.60 | ₹3,327.60 |
| Sacred Sandal Ember Fragrance Oil | 1 × 500 g | ₹3,999.00 | ₹3,999.00 |
| Ylang Ylang Flower Fragrance Oil | 1 × 500 g | ₹2,714.00 | ₹2,714.00 |
| Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 | 5 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg | ₹5,074.00 / ₹2,537.00 | ₹27,907.00 |
| Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 | 3 × 100 | ₹590.00 | ₹1,770.00 |
| White Matte Glass Jar | 54 × pack of 5 | ₹354.00 | ₹19,116.00 |
| Wick Centering Device | 2 × pack of 5 | ₹118.00 | ₹236.00 |
| Basket total | ₹77,098.60 |
That is 10 lines on one order and one invoice, ₹285.55 per candle in materials, of which fragrance is ₹103.96. Wax at 51.67 kg needed is bought as 55 kg, so a little carries over. The per-candle figure excludes labour, packaging, labels, freight and GST. CSI 464 is rated up to 10% fragrance load, the wax maker's stated formulation maximum, which covers the 8% used here. Month two will usually drop the jars, wicks or wax if you buy those on a slower cycle, leaving the oils as the monthly core.
Here are three oils from the basket that show the three stock situations a consolidated range has to handle:

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A supplier writing about consolidation obviously wants to be the one you consolidate onto. This page still tells you to keep a tested backup for your best-sellers, prints how many of our oils were in stock at only one size, and says plainly that consolidating does not come with a published discount.
Every oil and wax price and stock status on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Wick, jar and tool prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Basket totals, per-candle figures and stock counts are plain arithmetic on that data, shown to two decimals so you can check them.
The 270-candle basket, the 8% load, the 4% allowance and the before-and-after vendor picture are working assumptions for illustration. CSI does not publish lead times, payment terms or volume discounts. For a quote on a consolidated basket, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Non-price figures and assumptions: The basket assumes 270 candles of 200 g at an 8% load (16 g oil + 184 g wax) and a 4% allowance for pour loss and test burns (a working assumption within the 3–5% range). The four-vendor "before" picture is illustrative. Totals exclude labour, packaging, labels, freight and GST. Fragrance-load ceilings of up to 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and up to 10% (CSI 464) are the wax makers' stated formulation maximums, not regulatory limits; no ceiling is quoted in this series for CSI 468 or Natural Soy Pearl Wax.
