"So I live in a very cold region and it was becoming very difficult for me to maintain the temperature. My temperature would drop within seconds due to which I was not getting a good hot throw. Moreover, it would take me ages to melt the wax. But this mini melter is my saviour. It took me seconds to melt my wax and the wax stays warm for a longer time in the melter so I was finally able to get the desired hot throw. It is totally worth the money and so hassle-free."

CSI Seasonal Buying · Winter in India
India has two winters: a cold North from December to February and a milder South. Here are six CSI oils ranked for both, the Christmas trio for 25 December 2026, and what the two-ceilings rule means for oils that go above 10%.

Quick answers — read this first
What are the best fragrance oils for winter candles in India? Warm spice, gourmand and woods. Our ranking of CSI oils for the Indian winter: 1 Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil, 2 Cinnamon Vanilla, 3 Woody Oud Fragrance Oil, 4 Pumpkin Spice, 5 Chocolate Fudge Fragrance Oil, 6 Autumn. All six are in stock on 24 September 2026 (one size of Chocolate Fudge excepted).

Does winter in India need different candles in the North and South? Yes. North India is properly cold from roughly December to February; the South is milder, with cool mornings and evenings rather than cold days. Heavier woods and gourmands suit the North; lighter fruit-and-spice suits the South.

Which oils work for Christmas 2026? Christmas is on 25 December 2026, 92 days after these prices were checked. Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Vanilla and Chocolate Fudge are the ranked oils most people read as Christmas; that trio costs ₹706.82 at 50 g.

Can winter candles take more fragrance? Two of the six pages state a maximum above 10%: Cinnamon Vanilla (up to 13%) and Autumn (7–11%). Whether you can use it depends on the wax: the lower of the two ceilings governs.
The short answer
The winter rule: warmth comes from spice, sugar and wood. Pick one of each for a line, and match the weight to the region.
The ranked three: Apple Cinnamon (the crowd-pleaser, ₹4.74/g flat from 50 g), Cinnamon Vanilla (the sweet spice, up to 13%), Woody Oud (the evening wood, ₹4.53/g from 100 g).
The cold-room rule: test and burn in the cold room your customer uses. Warm your jars before pouring in a cold workshop.
The honest part: the cheapest winter oil here, Chocolate Fudge at ₹3.96/g, is not the weakest pick, and the dearest winter oils (Dark Vanilla at ₹8.20/g) are not in the six.
The winter warmth staircase Six ranked CSI oils, lighter fruit-spice to heavy woods. Circle = rank in this guide. 6 Autumn ₹5.43/g load 7–11% 1 Apple Cinnamon ₹4.74/g load 6–10% 4 Pumpkin Spice ₹6.61/g load 6–10% 2 Cinnamon Vanilla ₹5.43/g load up to 13% 5 Chocolate Fudge ₹3.96/g load 6–10% 3 Woody Oud ₹5.43/g load 6–10% LIGHTER · fruit and spice HEAVIER · gourmand and woods SOUTH INDIA · milder winter, cool evenings NORTH INDIA · December–February, colder Step order is editorial judgement from stated notes. Loads as stated on each page; 50 g prices, 24 September 2026.
The six ranked winter oils as a staircase from lighter fruit-spice to heavy woods, with each page's stated candle load and the 50 g per-gram price. The rank (circle) and the step are different things: Apple Cinnamon ranks first but sits low on the stairs, which is why, in our judgement, it works across both the milder South and the colder North.
Straight answer
Which CSI fragrance oils make the best winter candles for Indian buyers, including Christmas?
Build the winter line on Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil: its page states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours", it is priced flat at ₹4.74 per gram from 50 g to 1 kg, and it reads as winter in both North and South India. Add Cinnamon Vanilla for sweet spice (its page states up to 13%, which you can use only in a wax whose own ceiling allows it) and Woody Oud Fragrance Oil for a woody evening scent. For range, Pumpkin Spice, Chocolate Fudge and Autumn complete the six. For Christmas on 25 December 2026, the trio most people read as Christmas is Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Vanilla and Chocolate Fudge. The ranking is based on stated notes, stated candle load, per-gram price, stock depth and base weight; CSI has no throw measurements. The priced winter basket and the October–November order dates are in Buy Winter Candle Fragrance Oils in India.
One line: winter candles are about warmth, but India has two winters, so rank by how widely a scent sells, then match the weight to where it will burn.
Start with the ranked number one. Apple Cinnamon 50 g is ₹237.18 (₹4.74 per gram), enough for four 150 g candles at 8%. The page describes crisp apple and cinnamon over baked goods, nutmeg, vanilla and warm amber.

What an Indian winter asks of a candle

Winter is the season when people want a candle to make a room feel warmer than it is.

Indian winter, roughly December to February, is, in our experience, one of the easier seasons to sell candles in and one of the most crowded. It follows straight on from Diwali (8 November 2026), runs through Christmas (25 December 2026) and New Year, and in the North carries on through January. Three things shape what sells.

1. Warmth is a scent, not a temperature

Cinnamon, clove and nutmeg; vanilla, caramel and chocolate; oud, amber and woods. These are the notes people associate with warmth, home and festivity, and they are exactly the notes that felt heavy in May (the summer guide, Best Fragrance Oils for Summer Candles in India, explains why). In winter, the sweetness and density that fail in the heat become the point.

2. India has two winters

North India (Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, the hill states) is properly cold from roughly December to February, with long evenings indoors and rooms closed against the cold. South India (Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi) is milder: cool mornings and evenings, not cold days. A candle sold into both needs to work at two weights, which is the logic of the regional table.

3. Winter is gifting season

From Diwali to Christmas and New Year, many winter candles, in our experience, are bought to give. Gift buyers choose scents they are sure the other person will like, which favours familiar, easy-to-name accords (apple and cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate) over challenging ones (oud, smoke). That is why the crowd-pleaser ranks first and the oud ranks third.

Mistake: launching a winter range made entirely of your own favourite heavy scents. Fix: anchor the range on one familiar crowd-pleaser, then add one sweet and one woody option. The one-sentence version: a winter line needs a scent that a stranger will happily receive as a gift.

The four warm families

Every ranked oil belongs to one of four families. The table is the logic behind the ranking.

Warm families · mapped to real CSI oils
What each family brings to winter, and what it risks
Family What it brings CSI oils (ranked in bold) The risk
Fruit and spice Festive, familiar, lighter than pure gourmand Apple Cinnamon; Autumn; Fallen Leaves Can read "autumn" rather than "winter" in a cold North Indian room
Sweet spice Cinnamon, clove and nutmeg with vanilla or sugar Cinnamon Vanilla; Pumpkin Spice; Cinnamon Fragrance Oil; Spicy Cinnamon Clove-heavy oils can dominate a small room; test at 6%
Gourmand Chocolate, vanilla, caramel: dessert and comfort Chocolate Fudge; Dark Vanilla Fragrance; Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil Sweetness builds over a long burn
Warm woods Oud, amber, cedar, musk: evenings and men's gifting Woody Oud; Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil; Dark Vanilla Oud Oud divides people; not a first gift for a stranger
One from each family
A three-scent winter line almost writes itself: one fruit-spice, one sweet or gourmand, one wood. It covers the gift buyer, the dessert lover and the evening burner, and it means no two candles on your shelf compete for the same customer.

The ranking: six CSI winter oils

Ranked on breadth of appeal, stated load and price, not on which one we like best.

The basis: how widely the stated notes will sell across North and South Indian winters and as gifts, whether the page states a candle load, price per gram at 50 g, stock at every size on 24 September 2026, and base weight. We have no throw measurements and do not rank on strength. Candle counts assume a 150 g candle at 8% (12 g of oil).

1
fruit and spice · the crowd-pleaser · rank 1
Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil
In our judgement, the winter scent with the widest appeal: the page describes "crisp juicy apple and spicy cinnamon opening into baked goods and nutmeg, settling into vanilla and warm amber" and states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours. 6-8% for paraffin wax". It works at every step of the Indian winter, from a cool Bengaluru evening to a cold Delhi night, and in our judgement it is the easiest gift. A reviewer writes that "As soon as they entered their home this smell is warmth and pleasing". Limitation: it is so familiar that it will not distinguish your brand; pair it with a woodier signature. Priced flat at ₹4.74 per gram from 50 g to 1 kg; the 15 g is 31% dearer per gram.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹237.18 ₹4.74 4
100 g ₹474.36 ₹4.74 8

2
sweet spice · the Christmas candle · rank 2
Cinnamon Vanilla
Cinnamon and vanilla is the classic sweet-spice winter pairing. The page lists "cinnamon and clove top notes, vanilla bean and sugar middle notes, and cream and butter base" and states "Up to 13% load for candles", the highest stated maximum in this ranking (see the section on loads above 10%). Limitation: clove plus a cream-and-butter base is rich; in a small room test 6% before 8%. It gets cheaper with size: the 1 kg is 16.1% cheaper per gram than the 50 g. Two reviews on the page are 5 and 4 stars.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹106.20 ₹7.08 1
50 g ₹271.40 ₹5.43 4
100 g ₹483.80 ₹4.84 8
500 g ₹2,301.00 ₹4.60 41
1 kg ₹4,554.80 ₹4.55 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹65.14 at 50 g, ₹54.66 at 1 kg. Buy Cinnamon Vanilla
3
warm woods · the evening and men's-gift candle · rank 3
Woody Oud Fragrance Oil
The ranking's wood, for long North Indian evenings and men's gifting. The page describes "citrus and spice top notes opening into rich oud and patchouli heart, settling into warm woody notes, amber, and musk" and states "candles (6-10%)". A reviewer calls it a "Good quality wood fragrance oil with a warm, long-lasting scent and strong performance in candles"; that is one customer's view, not a CSI measurement. Limitation: oud divides people, so it ranks below the two crowd-pleasers. Price fact: ₹4.53 per gram from 100 g to 1 kg, 16.5% below the 50 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹271.40 ₹5.43 4
100 g ₹453.12 ₹4.53 8
500 g ₹2,265.60 ₹4.53 41
1 kg ₹4,531.20 ₹4.53 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹65.14 at 50 g, ₹54.37 at 1 kg. Buy Woody Oud
4
sweet spice · the café-and-kitchen candle · rank 4
Pumpkin Spice
The page lists "Top Notes: Fresh Pumpkin, Ginger, Cinnamon Bark Middle Notes: Nutmeg, Clove, Allspice Base Notes: Vanilla Bean, Caramelized Sugar, Cedarwood" and states "Recommended fragrance load is 6-10% for candles". A customer review on the Gilli Mitti page names Pumpkin Spice alongside it as "amazing and authentic". It ranks fourth because pumpkin is a less familiar festive note in India than apple or vanilla, so in our judgement it suits buyers who already know it. Price fact: the 500 g (₹5.90/g) is no cheaper per gram than the 100 g, but the 1 kg (₹5.31/g) is 10.0% cheaper than the 500 g; one 1 kg costs ₹590.00 less than two 500 g packs (₹5,900.00). 5
gourmand · the dessert candle · rank 5
Chocolate Fudge Fragrance Oil
The cheapest winter oil in the ranking at ₹3.96 per gram, flat from 50 g to 1 kg. The page lists "rich cocoa and sweet caramel top notes, creamy chocolate and toasted nuts middle notes, and vanilla bean and warm brown sugar base" and states "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles". Chocolate is a year-round gift note in India and a natural Christmas one. Limitation: the 100 g is out of stock on 24 September 2026 (ask on WhatsApp), and a pure dessert scent is sweet over a long burn; it suits a gift set better than an all-evening candle. The 15 g is 57% dearer per gram than the 50 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 g ₹198.24 ₹3.96 4

6
fruit and spice · the South Indian winter · rank 6
Autumn
The lightest of the six: "crisp red apple, cinnamon leaf, and orange zest top notes, golden maple, clove bud, and nutmeg middle notes, and warm oak, amber, and vanilla base", with "Recommended fragrance load 7-11% for candles". The orange zest keeps it brighter than Apple Cinnamon, which makes it a good fit for a mild southern winter. Limitation: it ranks last partly on evidence. The one review on its page is 3 stars ("Warm comforting fragrance"); we show it because it is real, and it is the kind of result your own test should confirm or overturn. Priced flat at ₹5.43 per gram from 50 g to 1 kg.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 g ₹94.40 ₹6.29 1
50 g ₹271.40 ₹5.43 4
100 g ₹542.80 ₹5.43 8

Oil per 8% candle: ₹65.14 at any size from 50 g. Buy Autumn

North winter, South winter

The same six oils serve both winters in a different order. This is editorial judgement from the stated notes, not sales data; use it to choose what to lead with where you sell.

Two Indian winters · editorial judgement
Which ranked oils to lead with, by region
Where it burns The room in winter Lead with Three-scent line (50 g) Hold back
North India, December–February Cold, closed, long evenings; heaters on Woody Oud, Cinnamon Vanilla, Chocolate Fudge ₹741.04 Autumn, which can read light in a cold room
South India, December–February Cool mornings and evenings, mild days, windows open Autumn, Apple Cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice ₹838.98 Chocolate Fudge at 10% for daytime
Hill stations, any winter month Cold nights, holiday gift buyers Apple Cinnamon, Woody Oud — Nothing; in our judgement heavy scents suit these rooms
Online, pan-India Unknown room, gift buyer Apple Cinnamon first — Oud as a first-order single scent

The North line costs ₹97.94 less at 50 g than the South line, because the North line holds the cheapest oil in the ranking (Chocolate Fudge) and the South line the dearest at 50 g (Pumpkin Spice). Which of these to hold as core and which to rotate across the year is the job of Which Fragrance Oils Should a Candle Brand Stock for Summer, Monsoon and Winter?.

Christmas, 25 December 2026

Christmas in India is a gift season first and a scent season second.

Christmas falls on 25 December 2026, 92 days after 24 September. In Kerala, Goa, the North-East and many metros, it is also a candle season in its own right, with office gifting, church bazaars and hampers. Three ranked oils carry the Christmas associations most buyers expect: Apple Cinnamon (spice and baking), Cinnamon Vanilla (sweet spice) and Chocolate Fudge (dessert). At 50 g the trio costs ₹706.82.

Christmas trio · per-candle oil cost at 8%
The three ranked oils that read as Christmas
Oil Christmas association Page load Oil per candle (50 g) Oil per candle (1 kg)
Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil Spice and baking 6-10% soy ₹56.92 ₹56.92
Cinnamon Vanilla Sweet spice, cream up to 13% ₹65.14 ₹54.66
Chocolate Fudge Fragrance Oil Dessert, cocoa, brown sugar 6-10% ₹47.58 ₹47.58

A worked example for pricing a Christmas candle: Apple Cinnamon at 8% in a 150 g Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) (₹94.40 per jar from the pack of 10), with 138 g of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (₹70.02) and a C1 wick (₹5.90), costs ₹227.24 in materials. The Chocolate Fudge version is ₹217.90. Both exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. When to order, how much, and how Christmas buying overlaps with Diwali is covered in Buy Winter Candle Fragrance Oils in India; for bakery-led gourmand runs see Bulk Bakery Fragrance Oils for Candle Manufacturers.

Argued against our own interest: for Christmas you do not need one of our dearest gourmands. Dark Vanilla Fragrance is ₹8.20 per gram at 50 g, about 2.1 times Chocolate Fudge, and a Dark Vanilla candle at 8% costs ₹268.72 in the same worked example. It is a good oil; it is not a better Christmas buy for a first-time winter range.

Above 10%: Cinnamon Vanilla, Autumn and the two ceilings

Winter is the one season in this cluster where two ranked oil pages state a maximum above 10%. That makes the two-ceilings rule practical: the lower of the wax maker's stated maximum and the oil page's stated candle maximum governs. Ceilings are formulation limits, not regulatory limits, and the maximum is not the best-performing load.

Two ceilings · winter oils × CSI container waxes
The lower ceiling governs
Oil Oil page states CSI 464 (up to 10%) CSI 468 (up to 13%) Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (up to 13%)
Cinnamon Vanilla up to 13% 10% 13% 13%
Autumn 7-11% 10% 11% 11%
Apple Cinnamon 6-10% soy 10% 10% 10%
Woody Oud, Pumpkin Spice, Chocolate Fudge 6-10% 10% 10% 10%

So in CSI 464, every ranked oil stops at 10%. In CSI 468 or Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, Cinnamon Vanilla can be tested up to 13% and Autumn up to 11%. Should you? Price is the smaller argument: at the 1 kg price, Cinnamon Vanilla at 13% (19.5 g in a 150 g candle) is ₹88.82 of oil against ₹68.32 at 10%, ₹20.50 more per candle. The larger argument is that a heavier load of a clove-and-cream oil is not automatically better in a closed winter room. Test 8%, 10% and then 12–13% side by side, and keep the lowest load that passes. Note that Autumn's page starts at 7%, so its test set is 7%, 9% and 11% (in a 13% wax): ₹56.99 to ₹89.56 of oil per candle at the 1 kg price. CSI 468 also costs more: ₹87.91 of wax per 150 g candle at 8% against ₹70.02 for CSI 464, at the 10 kg prices. How soy behaves with heavy oils generally is covered in Best Masculine Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles.

Cold rooms and cold jars: a winter bench test

Winter changes your workshop as much as your customer's room. A cold bench cools wax fast, cold glass chills the edge of a pour, and a candle tested in a warm room may read differently in a cold one. A customer on our Mini Electric Wax/Soap Melter page, writing from "a very cold region", describes her wax temperature dropping "within seconds" before she changed how she melted. The six steps below are common practice and our judgement, not measured data.

1
Keep melted wax at the page temperatureLuxury Soy Wax CSI 464's page gives melt/pour at 80–90°C; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468's page gives a pour of 58–60°C. In a cold room, check the thermometer immediately before adding oil and before pouring. A small melter such as the Mini Electric Wax/Soap Melter (₹2,360.00) holds temperature better than a pan on a cold bench.
2
Warm the jarsBring jars to room temperature, or warm them gently, before pouring. Cold glass is a common cause of wet spots and pull-away at the edge in winter.
3
Pour three loads per oil by total weightFor a 150 g candle: 6% = 9 g oil + 141 g wax; 8% = 12 g + 138 g; 10% = 15 g + 135 g. For Autumn, 7%, 9% and 11% where the wax allows 11%.
4
Cure in the same room, liddedApple Cinnamon's page states a 48–72 hour cure; the other five do not state one. At least 48–72 hours, longer for soy, is common practice; judge at day 3 and day 7, and give the woods and gourmands the day-7 verdict.
5
Burn in a cold, closed roomYour North Indian buyer burns with the windows shut and a heater on; test that way. Note the doorway scent at 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours, and whether the sweetness builds uncomfortably by hour two.
6
Check the wick against a cold melt poolA cold room slows the melt pool. C1 and C2 are starting points: if the pool has not reached the glass edge after two to three hours, retest with Thick (C2), ₹94.40 for 10, from the Candle Wicks collection. Never size a wick from a chart alone.
Scoring a winter candle
Three scores per candle: cold throw at day 7 (1–5), doorway at 1 hour in a cold room (1–5), and "still pleasant at hour two" (yes/no). In our experience, gourmands often win the first score and lose the third; woods tend to do the opposite. The winner is the one that scores on all three at the lowest load.

Gaps to know: CSI does not list a pine, fir or "Christmas tree" oil on 24 September 2026, nor a gingerbread or mulled-wine oil. Rank winter scents by who will receive them.
Many winter candles are gifts. The best winter oil is the one a stranger is glad to unwrap, and the signature oil is the one your regular customers come back for. You need both, in that order.

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every oil named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page ranks our cheapest winter oil into the six, leaves our dearest gourmands out, and shows a 3-star review on an oil we rank because it is real.

Every price, pack size and per-gram figure was taken from CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. Out-of-stock items (Chocolate Fudge 100 g, Spiced Rum at every size) are flagged as out of stock on that date and never presented as buyable. Candle loads and notes are quoted from each product page; where a page does not state a load (Spicy Cinnamon, Saffron Cedarwood), we say so.

The ranking, the staircase, the regional advice and the cold-bench method are our judgement; CSI has no throw measurements for these oils. Reviews quoted are single customers' views. Frequently asked questions

Which fragrance is best for winter candles in India?
Warm spice, gourmand and woods. From CSI, our ranked top three are Apple Cinnamon (the crowd-pleaser), Cinnamon Vanilla (sweet spice) and Woody Oud (the evening wood), followed by Pumpkin Spice, Chocolate Fudge and Autumn.
What candle scents sell for Christmas in India?
Spice-and-baking, sweet spice and chocolate: at CSI, Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Vanilla and Chocolate Fudge. The trio costs ₹706.82 at 50 g. Christmas is on 25 December 2026, so test in October.
Is apple cinnamon fragrance oil good for candles?
It is CSI's ranked number one for winter. The page states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours", and it is priced flat at ₹4.74 per gram from 50 g (₹237.18) to 1 kg (₹4,743.60).
Can I use 13% fragrance oil in soy candles?
Only if both ceilings allow it. Cinnamon Vanilla's page states up to 13%; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state up to 13%, but Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 stops at 10%. The lower ceiling governs, and the maximum is not necessarily the best load.
Do winter candles need a different wick?
Not by rule, but a cold room slows the melt pool. Start with C1 or C2 and run a melt-pool test in your jar in a cold room; if the pool has not reached the glass edge in two to three hours, move up a size.
Chocolate fragrance oil for candles price in India?
CSI's Chocolate Fudge is ₹198.24 for 50 g, ₹1,982.40 for 500 g and ₹3,964.80 for 1 kg, flat at ₹3.96 per gram; the 100 g is out of stock on 24 September 2026. The page states 6-10% for candles.

Non-price figures: candle maths assume a 150 g candle with load as a percentage of total weight (8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax; 13% = 19.5 g); candle counts are floor(grams ÷ 12). Wax ceilings (CSI 464 up to 10%, CSI 468 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%) and pour temperatures are as stated on the wax pages and are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Per-candle costs are worked examples and exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. Diwali (8 November 2026) and Christmas (25 December 2026) are calendar dates; Indian winter (roughly December–February, colder in the North, milder in the South) is approximate, not a forecast. The ranking, staircase, regional advice and cold-bench method are editorial judgement.
