Commercial Fragrance · Diwali Collection
A Diwali collection is not a list of nice oils. It is a small set of scents that each do a different job, sit at a price your buyer expects, and can be poured, cured and packed in the time you have. This page builds one in eight slots and three tiers, then costs the whole launch.
₹80.63
average oil cost per 200 g candle across an eight-scent, 400-candle Diwali collection · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How many fragrances should a Diwali collection have? Six to eight for a business with steady capacity, three to five for a first festive run. Eight lets every festive family appear once, with room for a premium pair. Fewer than six usually leaves a family missing.

Which oils make up the eight? Entry: Jasmine, British Rose, Cinnamon Vanilla, Woody Oud. Core: Sandalwood, Saffron Cedarwood. Premium: White Royal Oud, Midnight Bakhoor Royale. All in stock on 24 September 2026.

What does the collection cost to test? ₹1,522.88 for one tester of each. Seven have a 15 g; Midnight Bakhoor Royale starts at 100 g (₹799.00).

What does a 400-candle launch cost? ₹1,14,104.36 for oil, wax, wicks and jars, of which ₹37,002.36 is oil. See the shopping list.
The short answer
Eight slots: Hero wood · white floral · gifting rose · warm gourmand · everyday oud · warm spice-wood · premium oud · premium resin.
Three tiers: Entry ₹49.09–₹72.88 · Core ₹80.43–₹82.69 · Premium ₹127.84–₹129.60 of oil per 200 g candle.
Six-scent version: Sandalwood, Jasmine, British Rose, Cinnamon Vanilla, Woody Oud, White Royal Oud · average ₹77.87 of oil per candle.

The eight oils are grouped by what they cost inside a candle, not by scent family. Entry-tier oils carry most of the volume, the core tier carries the hero, and the premium pair gives the range a top shelf without pulling the average up far, because they are poured in smaller numbers.
Straight answer
How should a candle business build a Diwali fragrance collection?
Build it in slots, not favourites. Give each scent one job: a hero wood, a white floral, a gifting rose, a warm gourmand, an everyday oud, a warm spice-wood, and a premium pair. From CSI stock on 24 September 2026, that is Sandalwood, Jasmine, British Rose, Cinnamon Vanilla, Woody Oud, Saffron Cedarwood, White Royal Oud and Midnight Bakhoor Royale. Then group them in three price tiers by what the oil costs inside a 200 g candle at 8%: entry (₹49.09 to ₹72.88), core (₹80.43 to ₹82.69) and premium (₹127.84 to ₹129.60). Pour most of the volume in entry and core. Across a 400-candle launch weighted that way, oil averages ₹80.63 a candle. Testing all eight costs ₹1,522.88, and the full launch costs ₹1,14,104.36 for oil, wax, wicks and jars. Mogra and Rajnigandha are out of stock, so neither appears. A smaller business can drop to six and lose little.
One line: every scent in the range should have a job no other scent in the range already does.
The entry tier carries most of a Diwali range, so start there. British Rose 100 g at ₹342.20 and Woody Oud 100 g at ₹453.12 give you a gifting rose and an everyday oud for ₹795.32, enough for twelve 200 g candles at 8%.

Eight slots, eight jobs

A range of eight vanillas is one scent in eight jars. A range of eight jobs is a collection.

Start with the jobs a Diwali range has to do. Buyers arrive wanting the puja room, the garland, the gift, the sweet shop, the incense. A few want something special for a boss or a family elder. Each of those is a slot. Fill each slot once, from stock you can buy today, and the range covers most buyers without two scents competing for the same person. The table below is one way to fill the eight slots, with the share of a 400-candle launch each slot gets.

Eight slots · 200 g candle at 8% · material cost = oil + wax + wick + jar · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
The eight-scent Diwali collection
Slot Job Oil Tier Oil per candle Material cost Candles of 400
1 Hero wood Sandalwood Core ₹80.43 ₹267.35 80 (20.0%)
2 White floral Jasmine Entry ₹62.75 ₹249.67 60 (15.0%)
3 Gifting rose British Rose Entry ₹49.09 ₹236.01 50 (12.5%)
4 Warm gourmand Cinnamon Vanilla Entry ₹72.88 ₹259.80 60 (15.0%)
5 Everyday oud Woody Oud Entry ₹72.50 ₹259.42 40 (10.0%)
6 Warm spice-wood Saffron Cedarwood Core ₹82.69 ₹269.61 40 (10.0%)
7 Premium oud White Royal Oud Premium ₹129.60 ₹316.52 40 (10.0%)
8 Premium resin Midnight Bakhoor Royale Premium ₹127.84 ₹314.76 30 (7.5%)

The hero gets the largest share because it is the scent most buyers ask for first. Sandalwood takes 80 of 400 candles, 20%. The entry florals and gourmand take 60 each, the rose 50, and the ouds and spice-wood 40 each. The premium resin takes 30, because a ₹128 oil should be poured for the buyers who will pay for it, not stacked in the back room. Those shares are working assumptions for a first year. Your own sales from last Diwali, if you have them, are a better guide.

Every oil in the table is in stock on 24 September 2026. The two obvious gaps are Mogra and Rajnigandha (Tuberose), which are out of stock in every size. Jasmine fills the white-floral slot instead. If you want a second floral, Raat Ki Rani at ₹108.38 a candle can replace Saffron Cedarwood in slot six. The Indian fragrances guide compares the florals.

One scent per job, one job per scent
Before adding a scent, name its job in two words. If the job is already taken, the new scent is a replacement, not an addition. This rule keeps a range at eight rather than twelve, and it keeps each scent's sales from eating another's.

Three price tiers

The second way to read the range is by cost. Buyers at Diwali shop in bands: a small candle for a neighbour, a better one for family, a premium one for someone they want to impress. Grouping the eight oils by what they cost inside a candle lets you set three retail prices and know every scent in each band carries the same material cost, give or take a few rupees.

Tiers by oil cost per 200 g candle · material cost adds wax, wick and jar (₹186.92)
The collection in three tiers
Tier Oils Oil per candle Material cost per candle Candles of 400
Entry Jasmine, British Rose, Cinnamon Vanilla, Woody Oud ₹49.09 – ₹72.88 ₹236.01 – ₹259.80 210
Core Sandalwood, Saffron Cedarwood ₹80.43 – ₹82.69 ₹267.35 – ₹269.61 120
Premium White Royal Oud, Midnight Bakhoor Royale ₹127.84 – ₹129.60 ₹314.76 – ₹316.52 70

The entry tier spans only ₹23.79 of oil from cheapest to dearest, so one entry price works for all four. The premium pair differ by ₹1.76. The core tier sits between. Material cost excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. Premium candles usually carry heavier packaging too, so add that to the premium tier before you set its price. Luxury Diwali gifting candles costs the premium tier with packaging in mind.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A supplier's collection page would usually push a bigger premium tier, because premium oils cost more per gram. Our suggested launch pours only 70 of 400 candles in the premium pair. At Diwali most buyers are buying several candles for several people, and the entry and core tiers do most of the selling. Grow the premium tier if your buyers ask for it, not because it looks impressive on a price list.
The CSI principle
Tier by what the oil costs inside the candle, then price each tier once.
A range that charges one price for a ₹49 oil and a ₹130 oil is quietly subsidising the dear scents with the cheap ones. Put scents with similar costs in the same band and the retail price does the work for you.

The six-scent version

If eight is more than your workshop can pour well before Diwali, drop two. Here are the two to drop.

For a smaller business, a six-scent Diwali range keeps every major family and loses little. Drop Saffron Cedarwood, because Sandalwood already covers warm wood, and Midnight Bakhoor Royale, because White Royal Oud already covers the premium shelf and has a 15 g tester. That leaves Sandalwood, Jasmine, British Rose, Cinnamon Vanilla, Woody Oud and White Royal Oud. The simple average oil cost of the six is ₹77.87 a candle, against ₹84.72 for the eight. It also takes one tester, one test candle and one production pour off each end of the schedule, which matters with Diwali 45 days away.

Below six, the range starts to miss families. Three to five scents is right for a first festive run, and the Diwali hub costs a three-scent run of 120 candles. The step from five to six, for most businesses, is adding a premium scent. The step from six to eight is adding depth to families you already cover. Only take it if you know you can pour, cure and pack eight scents before your ready date.

Building and testing the range

A collection is only as good as its weakest scent in your wax. Test every slot before you commit production money. Seven of the eight oils have a 15 g tester, and Midnight Bakhoor Royale starts at 100 g. Here is the test budget:

Name the slots before you shopWrite the eight jobs down first. Then choose one oil per job. If you cannot name a job for an oil, it does not go in.
2
Test all slots togetherPour every tester on the same day, in the same jar, wax, wick and load. The ₹1,522.88 test budget covers it. Cure together and burn side by side so the comparison is fair.
3
Replace, do not addIf a slot's oil disappoints, test a replacement for that slot. Do not keep the weak oil and add another.
4
Set the tiers from the costsPut each surviving oil in entry, core or premium by its cost per candle, and set one retail price per tier.

The collection mistake that shows on the shelf. Choosing eight oils you like rather than eight jobs. The usual result is three vanillas, two roses and no wood, a range that looks full and sells thin. Check the job column before you check the price column.

The launch shopping list

Here is the full material list for the 400-candle launch, split by slot as in the first table. Oil and wax include a 5% allowance for pour loss and test burns, a working assumption. Each oil is bought in the cheapest in-stock mix of 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg packs that covers its need. Wax uses 5 kg bags, which are ₹9.00 cheaper per 10 kg than the 10 kg bag.

The launch costs ₹1,14,104.36, or ₹285.26 per candle including the allowance and pack rounding. Oil is ₹37,002.36 of that, 32.4% of the materials. Labour, packaging, freight and GST are extra. Leftover oil from rounding up carries naturally into the November–February wedding season: woods, ouds and florals all suit wedding candles.

If the total is more than you want to commit before Diwali, cut in this order: halve the premium pair first, then drop to the six-scent version, then reduce the entry tier. Keep the hero. Eight jobs, three prices, one order. That is a Diwali collection.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A supplier building your collection could easily fill it with premium oils. This page pours most of the launch in entry and core oils, keeps the premium tier small, and offers a six-scent version that buys less.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026, and every oil in the range is in stock on that date. Wick and jar prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Per-candle, weighted-average and shopping-list figures are plain arithmetic on those prices.

The slot shares, the 200 g candle, the 8% load and the 5% allowance are working assumptions, not a forecast of what will sell. For a quote on your own range, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

What fragrances should be in a Diwali candle collection?
One per job: a hero wood (Sandalwood), a white floral (Jasmine), a gifting rose (British Rose), a warm gourmand (Cinnamon Vanilla), an everyday oud (Woody Oud), a warm spice-wood (Saffron Cedarwood) and a premium pair (White Royal Oud, Midnight Bakhoor Royale).
How many scents should a small candle business launch for Diwali?
Three to five for a first festive run, six to eight for a business with steady capacity. Fewer scents poured well usually sell better than many poured in a rush.
How do I price a Diwali candle range?
Group scents into tiers by their material cost per candle, then set one retail price per tier. In this range, entry material cost runs ₹236.01–₹259.80 for a 200 g candle, before labour, packaging, freight and GST.
Does CSI sell a Diwali fragrance collection or combo?
No. CSI does not sell a fragrance combo or festive set. You build the collection from individual oils, and we can help you assemble and quote it on WhatsApp. Candle Fragrance Oil Combo Pack in India explains how to build a combo yourself.
What does it cost to launch an eight-scent Diwali range?
For 400 candles of 200 g, about ₹1,14,104.36 in oil, wax, wicks and jars at CSI's listed prices, of which ₹37,002.36 is oil. The full list is in the shopping list.
Is mogra available for my Diwali collection?
Not on 24 September 2026. Mogra and Rajnigandha are out of stock in every size, with no restock date published. Jasmine fills the white-floral slot, and Raat Ki Rani can be a second floral.
