CSI Wick Buying · Five Fragrances, One Jar
Fragrance changes how a wick burns, but five oils rarely need five wicks. Screen every oil on the wick you already trust, buy one contingency rung for the heavy oils, and approve each on the full life.

Eco C2 20 + Cotton Braided 10: the wick order for five oils in one 200 g jar · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Do five fragrances in one 200 g jar need five different wicks? Expect one or two wick builds, not five: our judgement, not a law. Buy for two. In the worked example that is your house wick, Eco C2 (20-pack, ₹188.80), and one contingency rung, Cotton Braided (10-pack, ₹120.00): ₹308.80 of wicks for all five oils.

What do I pour? Batch 1: two candles of every oil on the house wick, plus two each of oud, vanilla and coffee on Cotton Braided (16 candles). Batch 2, after burn 3: one confirm candle per oil on whichever wick led (4 candles; lavender, already approved, is the control). 20 candles in all.

How much oil? 16 g per 200 g candle at 8%. Lavender 50 g, British Rose 50 g, and 100 g each of Woody Oud, Vanilla Bean and Roasted Coffee: ₹2,115.52. With four 1 kg bags of CSI 464 and the wicks, the plan costs ₹4,453.92 before your jars.

Is that cheaper than a full ladder per oil? Yes, by ₹4,568.60: five three-rung ladders would be 45 candles and ₹9,022.52. Buy production wicks only for the configurations that pass a full-life burn on three candles.
The short answer
Buy: Eco C2 20 (₹188.80) + Cotton Braided 10 (₹120.00) = ₹308.80. Two wick builds cover five oils; C1 stays out of the order unless a light oil runs hot.
Screen: five oils × two candles on the house wick; oud, vanilla and coffee also get two on the contingency rung. One pour, one wax bag, one jar batch.
Approve: read every candle at burn 3, pour one more candle per oil on its leading wick, and approve a wick for an oil only when all three candles pass the full life.
The honest limit: the jar is yours (every CSI listing that states a 200 g fill is out of stock on 1 October 2026), and CSI sells three sized, tabbed wicks with nothing in between. An oil that fails both C2 and Cotton Braided needs a different test, and we will say so.

The whole plan on one grid. Every oil meets the wick you already stock; only the three heavy oils get a pair on Cotton Braided, the rung above. The dashed candles are poured after burn 3 on whichever wick led, so each approved configuration finishes the full life on three candles. Bars below, drawn to scale: the two-build plan against a full three-rung ladder for every oil, at CSI live prices on 1 October 2026.
Straight answer
I have five fragrances in the same 200 g jar. Do I need to buy different wick sizes for oud, vanilla, lavender, coffee and rose?
Probably not five, and possibly two. Fragrance does change how a wick burns: heavier, vanillin-rich and resinous oils such as vanilla, oud and coffee are commonly linked to needing a wick step up, or to more carbon on the wick, than light oils such as lavender and rose. But oils tend to fall into a light group and a heavy group (a tendency, not a rule), so buy for two builds: your house wick and the rung above it. In a 200 g jar of about 8 cm inside, with soy and 8% oil, the worked example is Eco C2 as the house wick (20-pack, ₹188.80) and Cotton Braided as the contingency rung (10-pack, ₹120.00), ₹308.80 in all. Screen all five oils on C2, two candles each, and pour oud, vanilla and coffee on Cotton Braided at the same time, two each. After burn 3, pour one more candle per oil on whichever wick led, and approve a wick for an oil only when all three of its candles pass a full-life burn. Then buy production quantities per wick, weighted by how many of each fragrance you sell.
One line: two wick packs (₹308.80) and 20 candles answer the five-oil question; five ladders would cost ₹4,568.60 more.
The wick order for five oils: Eco C2 20-pack (₹188.80) and Cotton Braided 10-pack (₹120.00), both in stock on 1 October 2026. No C1 and no big packs until the screen tells you to.

The five-oil purchase plan

Five oils, one jar, one question per candle: does this oil behave like the one you already trust?

The plan assumes one thing you must check: that your jar already has a house wick, the wick that passed a full-life burn with one light oil. In the worked example that is C2 with lavender in a 200 g jar about 8.0 cm across the inside. If nothing has passed full life in this jar yet, do that first with one oil (the three-rung ladder in the 8 cm first-ladder hub, or the reference-first route in the reference-fragrance post) and come back. Screening five oils against a wick nobody has approved tells you nothing.

Every candle here is a 200 g fill at 8% of total weight: 16 g of oil and 184 g of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. That 8% is 8.70% of the wax weight, inside CSI 464's stated "Fragrance Load Up to 10%" on either reading, and inside all five oil pages' stated candle loads (each page tops out at 10%). The 200 g fill and the 8.0 cm inside diameter are labelled worked-example figures: weigh your fill, measure your jar.

From nothing, the plan costs ₹4,453.92 in cash plus twenty of your jars. If you already pour lavender in production, use that bottle (the same lot as your approved candles is the better control) and the order drops to ₹4,183.92. The wicks are ₹308.80 of it; the oils are ₹2,115.52. That ratio is the theme of this cluster: wicks are the cheap line, and the candles you pour around them are where a test plan saves or wastes money.

Is a CSI jar the "200 g jar"?
Not one you can buy today. The three CSI listings that state a 200 g fill (Glass Jar With Bamboo Lid and its amber version, both "H: 8.5 cm x W:7.5 cm", and the Borosilicate Glass Jar, "fill it with 200g or 250g of wax") are all out of stock on 1 October 2026. The 200 ml Salsa jars are in stock and their pages say "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks", but 200 ml is a volume: by the common rule of thumb (wax weighs roughly 0.86–0.9 times the water) it holds less than 200 g of wax, and the pages state no diameter.

Batch 1 and batch 2: why the plan pours twice

Batch 1 is 16 candles from one pot of wax, poured on one day into jars from one batch: 2,944 g of CSI 464 and 256 g of oil across the five bottles. Batch 2 is 4 candles, one per oil except lavender, poured after the burn-3 screen on whichever wick led for that oil. Together they give every approved configuration three candles through the full life, the approval standard this series uses. Pour batch 2 from the same wax bag and the same oil bottles, record the date, and burn it with the batch-1 candles of the same oil so you are comparing like with like.

Don't buy yet: a C1 pack "just in case". Nothing in the worked example points down from C2, and if lavender or rose runs hot on the house wick, the C1 20-pack (₹118.00) is a one-line order then. The same goes for every 100-pack. Argued against our own interest: C2 and Cotton Braided cost the same per wick in every pack (₹9.44, ₹12.00), so a bigger pack today buys nothing but unused wicks for oils that may never need them.

Which oils get a contingency rung, and why

A contingency rung is cheap insurance against the one thing that is expensive: a second shipping wait.

The contingency pairs go where a fail is most likely, read from what each page states, not from burn data, which CSI does not have for any oil. Heavier, vanillin-rich, resinous and dense gourmand oils are commonly linked to a smaller flame, slower edge or more carbon on a wick that suits light oils. Lighter florals and herbals usually burn more easily. Tendencies only: a "heavy" oil can sail through on the house wick, and a "light" one can surprise you.

Expectations sheet · by stated notes and page wording (our judgement, not burn data)
Every page states a candle load of up to 10%; 8% is inside all five and inside CSI 464's 10%
Oil What the page states Expected group Candles in batch 1
Lavender "fresh lavender top notes, herbal green mid notes, and soft musk base"; "6-10% for candles" Light · the approved control 2 on C2
British Rose "fresh, dewy rose petals with subtle green undertones"; "up to 10% soy" Light 2 on C2
Woody Oud "rich oud and patchouli heart … warm woody notes, amber, and musk"; "candles (6-10%)" Heavy 2 on C2 + 2 on Cotton Braided
Vanilla Bean "Vanillin Content: 2.5%"; "Up to 10% for soy wax" Heavy 2 on C2 + 2 on Cotton Braided
Roasted Coffee "dark chocolate and espresso heart … warm vanilla and caramel base"; "candles (6-10%)" Heavy 2 on C2 + 2 on Cotton Braided

Why the contingency is the rung above: the common failure of a heavy oil on a light-oil wick is too little melt: a smaller flame and a ring of wax left on the glass. Cotton Braided is the only sized, tabbed wick CSI sells above C2. There is no sized, tabbed wick between C1 and C2, or between C2 and Cotton Braided, so "one step up" in CSI terms is a big step. Better you know that before you order.

Why no contingency for rose? Buying for every possible fail turns two builds back into five ladders; if rose misbehaves you lose one cycle on one oil. If you have a hard launch date and want no cycle at risk, add two rose candles on Cotton Braided; in the worst case the 10-pack then runs short, so add a second one (₹120.00).

Mistake: reading "heavy oil" as "bigger wick" and skipping the house-wick candles for oud, vanilla and coffee. Why it fails: heavy oils can also fail the other way, with mushrooming and soot on a wick that is already doing too much, and a bigger wick makes that worse. Fix: every oil gets its two house-wick candles; they are the comparison that tells you which direction the oil fails in. Carbon with a good pool points to a load step or a smaller wick (the vanilla carbon post), not to Cotton Braided.

The four-oil version of this screen, with an expectations sheet and the branching rule, is the four-oil same-wick screen; we do not repeat its method here. This page owns what to buy for it.

Oil grams matched to real bottle sizes

A test plan that needs 48 g of an oil sold in 50 g and 100 g bottles is a bottle decision before it is a wick decision.

CSI's oil sizes are 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg for all five of these oils, all in stock on 1 October 2026. At 16 g a candle, a 15 g bottle fills no 200 g candle at all, a 50 g bottle fills three (3, with 2 g over) and a 100 g bottle six (6, with 4 g over). The plan is built around those steps.

Oil per oil · what the plan uses, what is left, what a re-pour would need
16 g per 200 g candle at 8% · smallest in-stock bottle that covers the count · per-candle oil at the bottle price
Oil Candles Grams Bottle Oil per candle Left Room for a re-pour?
Lavender 2 32 g 50 g, ₹270.00 ₹86.40 18 g One candle
British Rose 3 48 g 50 g, ₹212.40 ₹67.97 2 g No: another 50 g
Woody Oud 5 80 g 100 g, ₹453.12 ₹72.50 20 g One candle
Vanilla Bean 5 80 g 100 g, ₹790.00 ₹126.40 20 g One candle
Roasted Coffee 5 80 g 100 g, ₹390.00 ₹62.40 20 g One candle
Total 20 320 g ₹2,115.52 — — —

The heavy oils need five candles each, so a 100 g bottle is the smallest that covers them, and the 20 g left is one spare candle if a cell splits. For rose, a 100 g bottle (₹342.20) would leave 52 g for a whole three-candle re-pour at ₹129.80 more; worth it only if rose is the oil you are least sure of.

Don't buy the 500 g of anything yet: Woody Oud is ₹4.53 a gram at 100 g and at 500 g, so the bigger bottle saves nothing per gram. Vanilla Bean's 500 g is only ₹0.22 a gram cheaper than its 100 g. Roasted Coffee's falls from ₹3.90 to ₹3.78. Argued against our own interest: a 500 g bottle bought before the screen is 420 g of oil whose wick you do not know yet. Buy it when the oil is approved and becomes production candles.

Per candle, the oil dwarfs the wick. A Vanilla Bean candle on C2 is ₹229.20 in materials (₹126.40 of it oil, ₹93.36 wax, ₹9.44 wick); on Cotton Braided, ₹231.76. A Roasted Coffee candle on C2 is ₹165.20; a British Rose candle ₹170.77; a Woody Oud candle ₹175.30; a Lavender control ₹189.20. All of these exclude your jar, labour, freight, packaging and GST. The step from C2 to Cotton Braided adds ₹2.56 to any candle; the oil choice moves the cost by more than ₹58.43.

Why two builds, not five: the money

Five ladders find five answers you could have found with twenty candles.

The alternative to a screen is a full three-rung ladder per oil: C1, C2 and Cotton Braided, three candles each, for every fragrance. That is the right method for a jar nobody has burned. For a jar with an approved house wick, it is the most expensive way to learn that lavender and rose still pass on it.

What it decides Which of two wicks each oil belongs on A full bracket for every oil

The two-build plan costs ₹4,568.60 less and needs 25 fewer jars. What it gives up is a documented fail on both sides for every oil. For lavender you already have one from the original ladder. For rose, the house wick passing is the result you want; a hot rose candle on C2 would send you to C1. For the heavy oils, the contingency pair supplies the second side. Where the plan cannot bracket (an oil that fails on both wicks), it tells you so with four candles instead of nine.

Why "one or two builds" is judgement, not a rule
Many makers find their range splits into a light group and a heavy group on one jar. That is a common pattern, not a law of physics: some ranges need three builds, some need one. The plan buys for two because it covers the common case cheaply and shows you quickly when yours is not common. A standing house rule for admitting new oils to a group is the behaviour-groups post.

Reading the screen: what each result buys next

Burn 3 does not approve anything. It decides which candle you pour next, and on which wick.
1
Pour batch 1 from one pot per oilSame CSI 464 bag, same jar batch, same day; weigh 16 g of oil into 184 g of wax per candle and label every base (LAV-1, WO-C2-1, WO-CB-1…). Centre each wick: an off-centre tab fakes a tunnel.
2
Cure all sixteen togetherWoody Oud's page says "Cure soy wax candles for 48-72 hours before burn testing", Roasted Coffee's "at least 48-72 hours", Vanilla Bean's "48–72 hours for soy wax"; the lavender and rose pages state no cure time in the text we captured. Many makers wait about a week.
3
Burn 3–4 hour sessions in still airTrim to about 5–6 mm (one CSI trimmer page: "Trim your wick to 1/4 inch before every burn"), no fan or AC vent, full cool-down between sessions, within sight.
4
Log every candle the same wayPool at four points each hour (the four-point pool log), flame height against a ruler, carbon on the wick, soot on a white card; later, how close the flame sits to the glass, judged by eye, never by touch.
5
Read at burn 3, then pour batch 2Check the lavender control first, then each oil against the table below; pour one confirm candle per oil on its leading wick from the same bag and bottle.
6
Burn the leaders to the bottomThree candles per configuration to about 1 cm left; only that result releases a production order.
Screen results at burn 3 · the next purchase (our judgement, labelled)
Two candles per cell · commonly cited rules of thumb: full pool to the glass in about 3–4 hours, pool about 0.5–1 cm deep, flame about 2.5–5 cm
What the candles show Reading Batch 2 for that oil Purchase

Rings on C2 and on Cotton Braided Beyond CSI's single rungs for this oil Double-wick test or a different oil Ask us; see the double-wick posts in 5501–5520
Lavender control misbehaves The batch, not the oils Re-pour after finding why Nothing until the control behaves

The lavender row matters most. Lavender passed full life on C2 before; if its two candles now tunnel or run hot, something in this batch changed (a different wax bag, a draught, an off-centre tab, shorter sessions) and every other cell in the batch is suspect. That control costs ₹378.40 in materials. It is the cheapest way to know your screen is a fair one.

Approval is the full life: all three candles of a configuration burned to about 1 cm left with no heat, soot or flame failure in the final third, where heat commonly builds (how far down a test candle must go).

Mistake: approving Cotton Braided for oud because one candle looked better than C2 at burn 2, then ordering 500. Why it fails: two candles at burn 2 are a screen, not a verdict, and the bigger wick is the one most likely to run hot in the final third. Fix: pour the confirm candle, burn all three to the bottom, and buy only then. A wick that is right for oud in this jar is not approved for oud in another jar, at another load or in another wax.

From five approvals to a production order

Two SKUs, five oils: the order is a sum of fragrances, not a guess per wick.

Once each oil has an approved wick, size the order per wick: wicks of a size = (candles of every oil on that size) × wicks per candle × (1 + allowance). The allowance covers rejects and retests; 5% is our worked-example figure. Because C2 and Cotton Braided are flat per wick, choose packs that add up to the number and nothing more.

Worked example · one month, five oils, two wick SKUs
Assumed result: lavender, rose and coffee approved on C2; oud and vanilla on Cotton Braided · assumed sales mix · 5% allowance · flat per-wick pricing
Wick Oils on it (candles a month) Wicks needed Wick cost Packs that cover it
Eco C2 Lavender 80 + Rose 60 + Coffee 40 189 ₹1,784.16 100 + 50 + 20 + 20 = ₹1,793.60
Cotton Braided Oud 40 + Vanilla 60 105 ₹1,260.00 100 + 10 = ₹1,320.00
Both 280 candles 294 ₹3,044.16 —

Could you run one SKU instead, everything on Cotton Braided? Only if lavender, rose and coffee pass full life on it, which this plan has not tested and which a light oil on a bigger wick commonly does not. Even if they did, the month would cost ₹3,528.00 in wicks, ₹483.84 more than the split, for the convenience of one bin. The sales-mix split in detail, with pack choice per size, is the two-wick quantity post; whether a low-volume oil should share a neighbouring wick instead of holding its own is the wick-sharing post; reorder points per size are the reorder-point post.

Don't jump to the 1,000-packs after approval either: the C2 1,000 (₹9,440.00) is ₹9.44 a wick, exactly what the 20-pack costs per wick. At 189 C2 a month it is about five months of stock, exposed to every change that sends you back to testing: a new jar batch, a sixth fragrance, a move to 10%. Buy a month plus safety stock and reorder on the formula. Argued against our own interest: the big pack is our better sale and your worse purchase.

What to buy for five oils, and what to skip

Six items, in the order the plan uses them, chosen on page statements, price and stock on 1 October 2026. CSI publishes no wick-performance data for any oil, so nothing here is ranked on burn results. Candle counts use 16 g per 200 g candle and 12 g per 150 g candle. The wax line is in the buy list above: CSI 464 at ₹0.51 a gram, flat from 1 kg to 10 kg.

wick · the contingency rung for oud, vanilla and coffee
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made
The one rung above C2 that CSI sells as a sized, tabbed wick, bought now so a heavy oil that tunnels on C2 does not cost you a second order and a second wait. The page says "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm", with "preventing tunneling" as its own claim, and gives one dimension: "Height of the wick is 10.16 cm". An 8 cm inside diameter sits on that page's line, which is why it is the contingency and not the default. Limitation: CSI lists no larger single tabbed wick, so an oil that tunnels on Cotton Braided as well needs a double-wick test or a wick from elsewhere.
Pack Price Per unit What it covers here
Pack of 10 ₹120.00 ₹12.00 6 contingency + up to 3 confirms; at least 1 spare
Pack of 50 · 100 ₹600.00 · ₹1,200.00 ₹12.00 production, once a heavy oil passes full life on it
Pack of 500 · 1000 ₹6,000.00 · ₹12,000.00 ₹12.00 the same price per wick as the 10-pack

fragrance oil · oud · heavy base
Woody Oud Fragrance Oil
The oud in the five. The page lists "citrus and spice top notes opening into rich oud and patchouli heart, settling into warm woody notes, amber, and musk", states "candles (6-10%)", and says "Cure soy wax candles for 48-72 hours before burn testing". Heavy woody and resinous bases are among the oils commonly linked to a wick step up: a tendency, which is why it gets the contingency pair. Per gram it is flat from 100 g to 1 kg (₹4.53), so the 100 g carries no penalty against the bigger bottles.
Size Price Per gram 200 g candles at 8% (16 g) 150 g candles at 8% (12 g)
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 none (a sniff sample) 1
50 g ₹271.40 ₹5.43 3 4

500 g ₹2,265.60 ₹4.53 31 41
1 kg ₹4,531.20 ₹4.53 62 83
Five candles use 80 g; the 100 g leaves 20 g, one more candle. Buy 100 g — ₹453.12

fragrance oil · vanilla · gourmand
Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil
The vanilla. The page states "Recommended Fragrance Load: Up to 10% for soy wax", lists "Vanillin Content: 2.5% (Potential discoloration; test with lighter waxes or consider adding color stabilizers)" (CSI does not currently list a colour stabiliser) and "Cure Time: 48–72 hours for soy wax". Vanillin-rich oils are commonly linked to needing a larger wick or to more carbon on the wick: contingency pair. Dark Vanilla is priced the same at every size; a result in one does not carry to the other. Honest note: it is the dearest of the five per gram, and there is no Vanilla Bean review on our store to quote.
Size Price Per gram 200 g candles at 8% (16 g) 150 g candles at 8% (12 g)

fragrance oil · rose · light floral
British Rose Fragrance Oil
The rose, expected to sit with lavender on the house wick (our judgement from the stated notes, not a burn result). The page lists "fresh, dewy rose petals with subtle green undertones and a soft floral finish" and states "candles (up to 10% soy, up to 6% paraffin)". It gets no contingency pair; if it surprises you on C2, the 50 g leaves only 2 g, so a re-pour means another bottle. From 50 g up it is the cheapest of the five per gram.
Size Price Per gram 200 g candles at 8% (16 g) 150 g candles at 8% (12 g)
15 g ₹94.40 ₹6.29 none (a sniff sample) 1

500 g ₹1,593.00 ₹3.19 31 41
1 kg ₹3,068.00 ₹3.07 62 83
Three candles use 48 g; ₹67.97 of oil in each at the 50 g price. Buy 50 g — ₹212.40

fragrance oil · coffee · gourmand
Roasted Coffee Fragrance
The coffee. The page lists "fresh coffee bean top notes, dark chocolate and espresso heart, and a warm vanilla and caramel base", states "candles (6-10%)" and says to cure soy candles "for at least 48-72 hours before burn testing". Coffee can fail either way on a house wick: tunnel (the contingency pair answers that) or carbon on the wick (that needs a different purchase, see the coffee three-lever order). The 100 g is ₹3.90 a gram against ₹4.60 at 50 g.
Size Price Per gram 200 g candles at 8% (16 g) 150 g candles at 8% (12 g)
15 g ₹93.22 ₹6.21 none (a sniff sample) 1
50 g ₹230.00 ₹4.60 3 4
100 g ₹390.00 ₹3.90 6 8
500 g ₹1,890.00 ₹3.78 31 41
1 kg ₹3,738.00 ₹3.74 62 83
Five candles: 80 g; ₹62.40 of oil in each. Buy 100 g — ₹390.00

Skip for this plan: Eco C1 (the 20-pack, ₹118.00): only after a light oil runs hot on C2. Performance Wooden Wicks (₹590.00 for 10): one listing with no widths, so it cannot be a contingency rung. Eco Braided Wicks and the Braided Wick Roll (₹706.82): unsized, cut to length, a gap-filling experiment for later. Fifteen-gram oil bottles: they fill no 200 g candle at 8%; buy them only to smell an oil before committing.

Diwali is 8 November 2026, 38 days from 1 October 2026. A batch poured this week and cured for a few days can be screened by mid-October; the confirm candles and full-life burns take the weeks after. Pour production only for oils that pass, and send us the approved wick for each with your candle counts: we will quote the wicks and oils with a GST invoice and a dispatch date.

Map of this cluster: 5521–5540

This hub owns the cluster's short answer (buy for two builds, screen every oil on the house wick, add a contingency rung where a fail is likely) and the five-oil plan. Each other post owns one purchasing decision when a fragrance changes how a wick behaves.

Cluster map · 5522–5540
One oil against another (5522–5525), load changes (5526–5528), switching or replacing oils (5529–5531), blends (5532–5533), many-oil ranges and wick SKUs (5534–5539), attribution (5540)
No. What the post answers (linked)
5522 Lavender fine, vanilla tunnels: the one extra rung, and whether it becomes a stocked SKU.
5523 Coffee mushrooms more than lavender: oil swap, load step or down rung, costed in one order.
5524 Oud flame smaller than rose: does one up-rung serve the whole oud family?
5525 Vanilla carbon against an unscented control: load first, then wick down only if needed.
5526 Unscented perfect, under-wicked at 10%: the scented re-bracket and the ceiling check.
5527 6% fine, 9% tunnels: is the stronger candle worth a new wick?
5528 10% down to 8%: the confirm order that may let a cheaper wick pass.
5529 Lavender to heavy oud at the same load: a one-shipment switch kit.
5530 Another supplier's coffee: the oil-change validation purchase.
5531 A more viscous oil: a pour check that decides whether the up-rung joins the order.
5532 Vanilla and sandalwood blend: its own ladder, and the sandalwood stock problem.
5533 Blend ratio 50:50 to 70:30: a ratio-change confirm order.
5534 Ten fragrances in one jar: a staged purchase schedule, wave by wave.
5535 One reference fragrance first: wick counts for the rest, and the risk taken.
5536 Heaviest fragrance as the inventory reference: why it tends to overstock.
5537 One fragrance needs its own wick: stock it, or change the load?
5538 Can nearby fragrances share one wick? The sharing-trial purchase.
5539 Great throw, aggressive wick: keep the throw, cut the power, ranked by cost.
5540 Fragrance or something else? A one-order attribution kit.
The CSI principle
Screen on the wick you trust; buy the next rung only where a fail is likely.
Two wick packs (₹308.80) and twenty candles answer the five-oil question. The candles are the cost; the wicks are the cheap part. Approve each oil on the full life, then buy by the formula.
"Five fragrances rarely need five wicks. They always need five honest tests."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wicks, oils and wax named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you to buy two small wick packs instead of five ladders, that bigger tabbed packs save nothing per wick, that our sized, tabbed range is three rungs with nothing in between, and that none of our 200 g jars is in stock today.

Every price was verified on CSI's live store on 1 October 2026. Stock was checked per size: the Eco C1 10-pack and the three 200 g-fill jar listings are out of stock on that date and flagged; every oil size and wick pack offered here is in stock. Product wording is quoted from the pages; where a page is silent in the text we captured, we say so.

The light and heavy grouping, the house wick, the contingency rung, the screen thresholds, the 8.0 cm jar, the 200 g fill, the 5% allowance and the monthly mix are our judgement or worked examples; melt-pool times, depths and flame heights are commonly cited rules of thumb; CSI publishes no wick-performance data for any oil. Frequently asked questions

Do different candle fragrances need different wick sizes?
Sometimes. Heavier, vanillin-rich and resinous oils such as vanilla, oud and coffee are commonly linked to needing a wick step up, or to more carbon on the wick, than lavender or rose in the same jar. In practice many ranges split into one or two wick builds rather than one per fragrance, which is why this plan buys for two.
How do I test five candle fragrances with one wick?
Pour two candles of each oil on your house wick (the one already approved in that jar) from one batch, and add two candles on the next rung up for the oils most likely to fail. Read them at burn 3, pour a confirm candle on each oil's leading wick, and approve only after all three candles of a configuration pass the full life.
How many wicks do I need to test five fragrances?
In this plan, up to 14 C2 and 9 Cotton Braided across 20 candles. CSI's C2 20-pack (₹188.80) and Cotton Braided 10-pack (₹120.00) cover it for ₹308.80.
Does oud need a bigger wick than lavender?
Commonly, yes, but not always: oud oils built on heavy woody and resinous bases often burn with a smaller flame on a wick that suits lavender. Test it on your house wick and one rung up in the same pour; let the candles decide.
How much fragrance oil do I need to test a 200 g candle?
16 g per candle at 8%, with load as a percentage of total candle weight. A 50 g bottle fills three such candles and a 100 g bottle six; a 15 g bottle fills none.
Should all my candle scents use the same wick?
Only the ones that pass a full-life burn on it. Forcing light oils onto a bigger wick risks running them hot, and costs ₹2.56 more per candle on Cotton Braided than C2. Two wick SKUs, each matched to the oils that passed on it, is usually the cheaper and safer stock.
Your wick order for five fragrances
C2 20 + Cotton Braided 10 = ₹308.80: one house wick, one contingency rung, five oils screened.
Confirm your jar has a house wick, pour 16 candles in one batch, read them at burn 3, pour the four confirms and approve on the full life. Send us your jar's inside diameter and your five oils on WhatsApp and we will check the order before you pay.

Non-price figures: load is a percentage of total candle weight (200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax; the standard 150 g candle at 8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax). The 200 g fill and 8.0 cm inside diameter (50.27 cm² of pool; 41.85 cm² if 8 cm is the outside of a 0.35 cm wall) are labelled assumptions. Ceilings are as the pages state (CSI 464 up to 10%; each of the five oils up to 10% in candles): formulation limits, not regulatory ones. Cure times are quoted per page. Melt-pool times (about 3–4 hours), depth (about 0.5–1 cm) and flame height (about 2.5–5 cm) are commonly cited rules of thumb. The light/heavy grouping, house wick, contingency rung, screen thresholds, 5% allowance and monthly mix are editorial judgement and worked examples.
