Buyer question · 5–10 kg a month
At 5–10 kg a month you have outgrown small bottles, and the obvious next step is bigger packs. On CSI's listed prices, bigger packs save real money on a minority of oils and almost nothing on the rest. For the rest, the lever is a quote on your whole monthly basket.
5.5%
saved by moving a 10 kg monthly basket from 100 g bottles to 1 kg packs (₹3,276.00 a month), and 63% of that comes from one oil · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Should I negotiate or buy bigger packs? Both, in that order. Move oils with a real kilo break to 1 kg now; it needs no negotiation. For flat-priced oils, bigger packs change nothing, so ask for a quote on the whole monthly basket.

How much do 1 kg packs save at 10 kg a month? On the example basket, ₹3,276.00 a month, 5.5%. Mango Coconut alone is 63% of that. Blue Ocean and Spicy Raspberry cost a few rupees more at 1 kg than as 100 g bottles.

What is 1% of a quote worth? On the 10 kg basket at 1 kg prices (₹55,844.00), each 1% is ₹558.44 a month, ₹6,701.28 a year. At 5 kg, ₹280.57 a month. This is arithmetic; no discount figure is published.

What should I bring to a quote request? Three months of usage by oil, a six-month forecast, the scents you will keep, pack and delivery preferences, GST details and documentation needs. See what to bring.
The short answer
5 kg month: 100 g bottles ₹29,560.00 · 1 kg packs ₹28,057.00 · saving ₹1,503.00 (5.1%).
10 kg month: 100 g bottles ₹59,120.00 · 1 kg packs ₹55,844.00 · saving ₹3,276.00 (5.5%), 63% of it on Mango Coconut.
The lever: Listed prices are flat above 100 g for most oils (52 of 91 within ±1% at 1 kg). Beyond the listed packs, pricing is quoted on WhatsApp. Wholesale pricing explains the route.
Shop: Fragrance Oils · Candle Wax · volume quotes on WhatsApp.
A 10 kg month: what moving from 100 g bottles to 1 kg packs saves, oil by oil Listed prices only. Total saving ₹3,276.00 a month (5.5%), of which Mango Coconut is 63%. Vanilla Bean₹762.00Blue Ocean₹12.00 dearerSpicy Raspberry₹18.00 dearerMango Coconut₹2,072.00Eucalyptus Spearmint₹472.00 Flat-priced oils save nothing by upsizing — two here cost a few rupees more at 1 kg. For them, only a quote can move the price. Each 1% off a quoted 10 kg basket would be worth ₹558.44 a month — illustrative arithmetic, not a published discount.
Each bar is one oil in a 10 kg month. Dark bars are savings from buying 1 kg packs instead of 100 g bottles at listed prices; pale bars are oils where the kilo costs slightly more. Mango Coconut's 20.7% kilo break does most of the work. The flat-priced oils show why a quote on the basket, not a bigger bottle, is the only way to change what you pay for them.
Straight answer
My candle business uses 5–10 kg of fragrance oil every month — should I negotiate wholesale pricing or buy larger packs?
Do the free saving first, then negotiate the rest. On CSI's listed prices, most oils cost the same per gram at 1 kg as at 100 g: for 52 of 91 oils the difference is within 1%. Only 24 oils save 5% or more at the kilo. So larger packs save money only on the break oils in your mix. On an example 10 kg month — Vanilla Bean, Blue Ocean, Spicy Raspberry, Mango Coconut and Eucalyptus Spearmint — moving from 100 g bottles to 1 kg packs cuts the bill from ₹59,120.00 to ₹55,844.00, a saving of ₹3,276.00 or 5.5%. But 63% of that saving is Mango Coconut, whose kilo is 20.7% cheaper per gram. Blue Ocean and Spicy Raspberry actually cost a few rupees more at 1 kg. Once your break oils are in kilos, bigger packs have nothing left to give. The remaining lever is a quote on your whole monthly basket via WhatsApp. No discount figure is published, so we cannot tell you what it will be; we can tell you what it is worth: each 1% on a ₹55,844.00 basket is ₹558.44 a month, ₹6,701.28 a year. Bring three months of usage by oil, a forecast and your delivery pattern, and ask about terms as well as price.
One line: upsize the break oils today; for everything else, a better quote beats a bigger bottle.
The one change in this guide that needs no negotiation: buy Mango Coconut in 1 kg packs. The kilo is ₹3,964.00 (₹3.96 a gram); ten 100 g bottles would cost ₹5,000.00. At 2 kg a month that is ₹2,072.00 saved every month.

The monthly basket, priced both ways

At 5–10 kg a month you are buying enough oil that 2% is worth an afternoon's work. The question is which 2% is actually available.

Here is a realistic monthly basket for a small candle business: five scents across gourmand, fresh, fruity and herbal, with the leading scent at 30% of volume. The first table is a 5 kg month; the second is the same mix at 10 kg. Each oil is priced two ways: as 100 g bottles, and in the biggest listed packs (1 kg, with a 500 g where the quantity needs it).

5 kg month · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
A 5 kg month: 100 g bottles against big packs
Oil Monthly As 100 g Big-pack route Cost Saving %
Vanilla Bean 1.5 kg ₹11,850.00 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g ₹11,486.00 ₹364.00 3.1%

Spicy Raspberry 1.0 kg ₹5,990.00 1 × 1 kg ₹5,999.00 ₹9.00 dearer 0.2% dearer
Mango Coconut 1.0 kg ₹5,000.00 1 × 1 kg ₹3,964.00 ₹1,036.00 20.7%

10 kg month · same mix, doubled · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
A 10 kg month: 100 g bottles against 1 kg packs
Oil Monthly As 100 g Big-pack route Cost Saving %
Vanilla Bean 3.0 kg ₹23,700.00 3 × 1 kg ₹22,938.00 ₹762.00 3.2%
Blue Ocean 2.0 kg ₹9,900.00 2 × 1 kg ₹9,912.00 ₹12.00 dearer 0.1% dearer
Spicy Raspberry 2.0 kg ₹11,980.00 2 × 1 kg ₹11,998.00 ₹18.00 dearer 0.2% dearer
Mango Coconut 2.0 kg ₹10,000.00 2 × 1 kg ₹7,928.00 ₹2,072.00 20.7%
Eucalyptus Spearmint 1.0 kg ₹3,540.00 1 × 1 kg ₹3,068.00 ₹472.00 13.3%
Month 10 kg ₹59,120.00 ₹55,844.00 ₹3,276.00 5.5%

The saving is 5.1% at 5 kg and 5.5% at 10 kg, and it is concentrated. Mango Coconut (₹5.00 → ₹3.96) and Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹3.54 → ₹3.07) have real kilo breaks. Vanilla Bean has a small one (₹7.90 → ₹7.65). Blue Ocean and Spicy Raspberry are flat, and their kilos cost a few rupees more than ten 100 g bottles. Put differently: ₹21,910.00 of the 10 kg basket, the flat-priced share, cannot be made cheaper by buying bigger at all.

Check your own basket in five minutes
For each oil you buy, divide the 1 kg price by 1,000 and the 100 g price by 100. If the kilo is 5% or more cheaper, move that oil to 1 kg today. If it is within 1%, pack size is a convenience decision. Across the catalogue, 24 oils are in the first group, including Citronella, Honeydew Melon, Verbena, Roasted Coconut and British Rose.

Why bigger packs run out of road

CSI's listed catalogue has one reliable per-gram step: from the 15 g tester to 50 g or 100 g, where the median premium is 23.1%. Above 100 g, most oils are priced in a straight line. Of the 91 oils that list both 100 g and 1 kg, 52 are within 1% per gram, 24 save 5% or more, and a few cost fractionally more at 1 kg (Love Spell, Pomegranate Splash and the Dahlia BBW-inspired oil). And the listed ladder stops at 1 kg per oil: there is no 5 kg or 10 kg oil listing to climb to.

That means a buyer at 5–10 kg a month hits the end of the pack-size lever quickly. Once every break oil is bought by the kilo, there is nothing more the price list can give. Buying three kilos of a flat oil instead of one does not lower its rate; it only moves cash from your account to your shelf. Beyond that point, price moves only through a quote on volume, which CSI handles on WhatsApp. Manufacturer-price claims, where to buy at wholesale prices and a monthly supplier for manufacturers cover the wholesale route from other angles.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We would sell more if we told you to stock up on kilos of everything. On our own listed prices, a kilo of a flat-priced oil costs the same per gram as ten 100 g bottles, and two of the oils in this basket cost slightly more. Buy the kilo for stock security on proven sellers and for real savings on break oils. Do not buy it expecting a discount that the price list does not show. For the rest, ask us for a quote.
The mistake that looks like wholesale buying. Ordering three months of every scent in one go to "get volume pricing". On the listed catalogue, that buys no lower rate on flat oils and ties up three times the cash. If you want a volume price, ask for a quote on committed monthly volume; do not pre-pay for it in stock.

What a quote is worth

No one can tell you in advance what a quote will say. You can know exactly what each percentage point would be worth.
Illustrative arithmetic on the example baskets at 1 kg pack prices · no discount figure is published
The value of each 1% on your basket
Monthly volume Basket at 1 kg packs Each 1%, monthly Each 1%, yearly Upsizing saving already captured, monthly
5 kg ₹28,057.00 ₹280.57 ₹3,366.84 ₹1,503.00
7.5 kg (midpoint, interpolated) ₹41,950.50 ₹419.51 ₹5,034.06 ₹2,389.50
10 kg ₹55,844.00 ₹558.44 ₹6,701.28 ₹3,276.00

Use this table to decide how much effort the conversation deserves, not to predict its outcome. At 10 kg a month, every 1% is ₹558.44; that is worth asking about, and worth preparing for. At 5 kg a month, 1% is ₹280.57, and non-price terms such as delivery rhythm, stock reservation and consolidated invoicing may matter more to you than the percentage. Either way, capture the free saving first: moving the break oils to kilos is already worth ₹3,276.00 a month at 10 kg with no conversation at all.

The CSI principle
Take the saving the price list offers, then ask for the one it does not.
Upsizing is the saving you can take today on your own. It is limited to the oils with real kilo breaks. Everything beyond that is a conversation, and it goes best when you arrive with numbers.

What to bring to the quote

A quote request that says "I buy a lot, what is your best price" gets a cautious answer. One that shows exactly what you buy, how often and how reliably, gets a considered one. Prepare these before you message.

1
Three months of actual usage, by oilKilograms per scent per month. If you do not track it, reconstruct it from invoices. This is the single most useful thing you can send.
2
A six-month forecast, with the seasonal peak markedDiwali on 8 November 2026 and the November–February wedding season change volumes. Show which scents rise and by how much.
3
Which scents are fixed and which rotateA core of five scents bought every month is a different proposition from ten scents rotating seasonally. Say which is which.
4
Your pack and delivery preferences1 kg bottles, delivery monthly or fortnightly, one address or several. Consistent patterns are easier to price.
5
Everything else you buyWax, wicks, jars. A consolidated order is a bigger, simpler order. Switching to one supplier and consolidating purchasing cover what to check.
6
GST and documentation needsYour GSTIN for invoicing, and whether you need MSDS and IFRA documentation for retail or corporate clients. Ask for them with the first order.

Terms worth more than a percentage

At 5–10 kg a month, several terms can be worth more than a small price change. A stockout on your lead scent in the week before Diwali costs more than 1% of a year's oil. Ask about these in the same conversation.

What to ask for besides price · working checklist
Non-price terms and why they matter
Term Why it matters at 5–10 kg a month
Stock confirmation or reservation for peak months Your lead scent is most at risk exactly when you need it most
Same-batch supply for the lead scent Consistency across a month's production, especially for corporate or retail buyers
Combined oil + wax + wick + jar orders One delivery, one invoice, fewer freight charges
Documentation on file MSDS and IFRA for every oil you use, ready for clients
A named contact on WhatsApp Faster answers when a scent runs low mid-month
Advance notice of price changes Lets you reprice candles before, not after

None of these are published commitments, and we will not pretend they are; they are the right questions to ask any supplier at your volume. A supplier for regular commercial orders and a reliable bulk supplier cover the supplier side in more depth, and buying more efficiently as you scale covers the levers on your own side: load, tier mix and wastage.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. Telling a 10 kg-a-month buyer to stock up on kilos would raise our order values. Our listed prices show that most kilos save nothing per gram, so this page says so, names the oils where they do, and points you to a quote for the rest.

Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026. Every pack in the baskets was in stock on the pull date. Per-gram figures, savings and the value of 1% are arithmetic, shown so you can check them. No volume discount figure is published, and none is implied.

The example baskets, forecast and template entries are working illustrations, not a sales forecast or a price promise. For a quote on your monthly volume, stock confirmation, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1 kg fragrance oil cheaper than 100 g?
For most oils, not per gram: 52 of 91 are within 1%. Twenty-four save 5% or more, led by Citronella (62.3%), Honeydew Melon (22.0%) and Mango Coconut (20.7%). A few kilos cost fractionally more per gram.
How do I get wholesale pricing on fragrance oil in India?
At CSI, pricing beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp. Send your monthly usage by oil, a forecast and your delivery pattern. No discount percentage is published. Wholesale price guide covers the route.
What volume do I need to ask for a fragrance oil quote?
There is no stated threshold. At 5–10 kg a month, each 1% on a typical basket is worth roughly ₹280.57 to ₹558.44 a month, which makes a prepared request worthwhile.
Can I buy 5 kg or 10 kg packs of fragrance oil?
The listed sizes go up to 1 kg per oil. Five kilos is five 1 kg bottles, or a quoted quantity on WhatsApp.
Which fragrance oils are cheaper in 1 kg packs?
