Why sourcing matters more for premium

The third is everything else — wicks and jars that behave the same order after order.

So a premium maker should choose a supplier on those points before price. Red flags in any supplier

A few claims should make any premium maker slow down, whoever makes them — us included. "Coconut-safe" or "coconut-specific" oils with no test behind the label: candle oils are formulated for candles in general, and compatibility with a particular coconut wax is something you prove in a burn test. A throw ranking with no method: if a supplier says one oil throws harder than another, ask how it was measured, in which wax, at which load, with which wick. A load ceiling with no source: the only honest maximum is the wax maker's stated figure for that exact wax.

Two more are commercial. A "manufacturer price" or percentage discount you cannot see written down: listed prices you can check per gram are worth more than a promised discount you cannot.
