What about the other waxes? The CSI 464 page states melt and pour both as 80°C – 90°C but no add temperature. The CSI 468 page states melt 50°C – 53°C and pour 58°C – 60°C, also with none. Ask CSI rather than borrowing a figure from another wax.
Why do I see 60–65°C quoted? Because two CSI fragrance oil pages say it — Blue Ocean says to add "to wax that has been cooled to the recommended temperature for your wax type - typically 60-65°C for soy wax". That is a general remark deferring to your wax; your wax page's band is the one that describes your wax.

Every figure below is quoted from the linked product page as published in September 2026 — nothing estimated, nothing carried across from one wax to another. Where a page says nothing, the table says nothing, and that blank is information.

Three things matter more than the numbers. Only two of the four pages publish an add temperature, so the question in this article's title has no single answer at CSI, let alone across every Indian supplier. The Chunks page states its pour twice with different wording (75–80°C in the table, 70–80°C in the steps), so work in the overlap. And CSI 468 melts at 50–53°C and pours at 58–60°C — a maker who learned "85°C" on Chunks and switched to coconut-soy would be working roughly 25°C above anything that wax's page mentions.
When the oil page and the wax page disagree
This is the part that actually confuses people, and both sources are real and published. Two CSI fragrance oil pages describe a soy add temperature in passing. Blue Ocean: "Always add fragrance to wax that has been cooled to the recommended temperature for your wax type - typically 60-65°C for soy wax." Gardenia: "For soy wax, the standard addition temperature of 60-65°C is well within the safe range." Meanwhile the two wax pages that publish a figure say 80–90°C and 85°C.
Read the wording carefully and the tension mostly dissolves. Both sentences point back at "the recommended temperature for your wax type" — the wax's own figure — then offer a general industry number as illustration. Neither is a specification for CSI's soy waxes; that lives on the wax pages. Hence the rule this cluster uses: the wax page's band is the band, and an instruction an oil page gives about that particular oil is an extra constraint on top of it.

Test the rule on a real case. Gardenia states "Flashpoint 98°C" and instructs: "add this fragrance oil to wax at a temperature below 98°C (the flashpoint)". The Chunks band is 80–90°C. Every point in it is below 98°C, so both instructions are satisfiable at once — you work in the wax's band and the oil's condition is met automatically. That is the normal case for most of the range, because the eighteen CSI oil pages publishing a measured flash point mostly state values between 185°C and 206°C.
Flash point is not an add temperature
A flash point is a measured handling and transport classification: the lowest temperature, under a defined laboratory test, at which a liquid gives off enough vapour to form an ignitable mixture with air. It is not a statement about how much fragrance survives in wax, not a quality score, and not a recipe instruction. Despite that, "add below the flash point" circulates as though it were a law of physics, and it produces two wrong conclusions: that a high stated flash point means a better oil, and that a wax's band can be overridden by arithmetic on one.
The shape of CSI's published data is the point. Eighteen of the 107 fragrance oil pages state a specific measured flash point. Another 32 state only "Flash point > 93°C (suitable for alcohol-based products)" — a shared threshold sentence on perfume-grade listings; it is not a measurement of that oil and must never be read as one. One page, Zesty Lemon, says only "Flashpoint Available on request / SDS". And 56 state nothing at all — for those, ask CSI for the SDS figure.

Note what that table does and does not license. It lets you say most CSI oils with a published measurement sit far above any wax's stated add band, so for those the question is not live, and that three published values — 85°C, 93°C, 98°C — sit close to or inside the soy band, making those the ones to ask about. It does not let you rank the range by flash point as a proxy for quality, or publish a flash point for the other 89 oils. If a page has no number, the number is not public.
Measuring it properly: where the thermometer goes
A stated band is worthless if the number you read is wrong, and wax makes a wrong number easy. Molten soy in a pitcher is not one temperature — it is a gradient, hottest against the metal. Four habits account for most of the variation between two batches a maker swears were identical.

The equipment question is small. A Pen Thermometer is ₹354; its page does not publish a temperature range, so confirm it covers your band before a production run. A Candle Making Weighing Scale is also ₹354 — load is a weight percentage, and a recipe logged in millilitres is not reproducible. ₹708 buys both, less than the oil in nine 200 g candles at 8% using Lavender at ₹5.221 per gram.
The five lines worth logging
A maker who cannot say what temperature last month's batch went in at also cannot say why this month's is different. The fix is five lines per pour, written at the bench while the wax is still liquid — not from memory, and not as targets but as the readings you actually got, including the ones that missed.
Choosing your point inside the band
A band of 80–90°C is ten degrees wide, and ten degrees is room enough for two makers to get different candles while both following the page. So pick a point deliberately, then stop moving it. The cheap way to pick it: pour one small batch across the band, hold every other variable still, and read the result off a score sheet.

Run it as three pairs: two jars added at 81°C, two at 85°C, two at 89°C — bottom, middle and top of the Chunks band, all inside it. Same melt, same 9.6 g per jar, same two minutes of stirring, same pour in 75–80°C, same wick, same room. Label the bases, tape over the labels, score cold throw blind at day 2, 7 and 14, then burn one jar of each pair for hot throw. Two jars per temperature is the minimum that separates a temperature effect from ordinary jar-to-jar variation.
Two oils that make the decision concrete
Both are chosen for what their pages state about temperature, not for their scent families — one with a wide published margin, one that forces the question. Each table lists every size with the per-kilogram price and how many 120 g jars at 8% (9.6 g of oil) a pack covers. Per-candle figures use 1 kg pricing.

What an unlogged temperature costs at scale
On six jars an unrecorded add temperature costs nothing you would notice. On a festive run it is the difference between a recipe and a guess. Take 500 candles of 200 g at an 8% load: 500 × 16 g = 8 kg of fragrance oil and 500 × 184 g = 92 kg of wax.
The oil bill alone, at 1 kg pricing, runs from ₹24,544 for 8 kg of British Rose at ₹3,068 per kilogram to ₹41,768 for 8 kg of Lavender at ₹5,221. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks is listed at ₹599 per kilogram flat from 1 kg to 10 kg and the largest listed pack is 10 kg, so 92 kg is bought as nine 10 kg bags at ₹5,999 plus one 5 kg bag at ₹2,995 — 95 kg for ₹56,986, with 3 kg spare for top-ups. No 25 kg or 100 kg soy pack is listed at CSI, so the listed per-kilogram price is the ceiling; for recurring volume, message WhatsApp for a quote rather than assuming what it will be.
Add 500 Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) at ₹2,950 and the British Rose version of that run carries ₹24,544 + ₹56,986 + ₹2,950 = ₹84,480 of materials before vessels, packaging or labour. The ratio is the argument. ₹1,826.20 against ₹84,480 is about 2.2% of the materials in one run, spent once, on the only variable in this article — and the thermometer is reusable, so the next band log costs ₹1,472.20.
