CSI Wick Buying · 8 cm Jars
Nobody can name the wick for a jar nobody has burned. For an 8 cm jar with soy and 8% vanilla, buy CSI's three tabbed rungs at ladder counts, pour nine candles, and buy production wicks only when one set survives the full life.
₹332.40
C1 20 + C2 10 + Cotton Braided 10: a three-rung ladder plus a double-wick arm · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which wicks should I buy for an 8 cm jar, soy wax and 8% vanilla? Three tabbed rungs, three candles each: Eco C1 (the 20-pack, ₹118.00; the 10-pack is out of stock), Eco C2 (10 for ₹94.40) and Cotton Braided (10 for ₹120.00). That is ₹332.40 of wicks. Our judgement puts the likely answer at C2 or Cotton Braided; C1 is the low anchor, expected to fail low. No supplier can tell you the wick for your jar before you burn it.

Do those packs cover a double-wick test too? Yes. Three candles on 2 × C1 and three on 2 × C2 use 6 more of each; the 20-pack and the 10-pack already hold them (11 C1 and 1 C2 left over).

How much vanilla and wax for the ladder? At a 200 g fill and 8%, each candle is 16 g oil + 184 g wax. Nine candles need 144 g of Vanilla Bean (two 100 g bottles, ₹1,580.00, leaving 56 g for a re-pour) and 1,656 g of CSI 464 (two 1 kg bags, ₹1,014.80). Your own nine jars on top.

Should I buy the 100- or 1,000-pack to save money? No. C1, C2 and Cotton Braided cost the same per wick in every pack (₹5.90, ₹9.44, ₹12.00). A bigger pack changes your cash outlay, not your unit cost. Buy production quantities only after all three candles of the winning set pass a full-life burn.
The short answer
Buy: Eco C1 20 (₹118.00) + Eco C2 10 (₹94.40) + Cotton Braided 10 (₹120.00) = ₹332.40. Enough for nine single-wick candles and six double-wick candles.
Pour: nine 200 g candles at 8% (16 g + 184 g), three per rung, same day, same wax bag, same jar batch: ₹2,059.87 of materials before your jars.
Approve: screen at burn 3, then burn every candle of the leading set to about 1 cm left. A wick is approved when all three pass the full life, not when one pool looks right.
The honest limit: 8 cm is your jar (CSI lists no 8 cm-wide jar), and CSI's tabbed range is three rungs with nothing in between. If the answer falls between them, we will say so.
An 8 cm vanilla ladder: where the wicks sit, what each candle costs Top views drawn to scale (2.2 px per mm) on an 8.0 cm INSIDE diameter, your jar, not a CSI listing. Spacing is a starting point for testing, not a rule. Bars: CSI live prices, 1 October 2026; 200 g fill at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax. 4.0 cm one wick: 50.27 cm² wick to wall Single: C1 · C2 · Cotton Braided 3 candles per rung = 9 wicks 4.0 cm apart 2.0 cm 25.13 cm² 25.13 cm² Double: 2 × C1 · 2 × C2 3 candles per pair = 12 wicks The same three packs cover both C1 20 + C2 10 + Cotton Braided 10 = ₹332.40 of wicks, flat per wick. Centre of the bracket (judgement) C2 and Cotton Braided: 8 cm sits at Cotton Braided's "exceeding 8 cm" and vanilla commonly wicks up. C1 single is the low anchor: expected to fail, it closes the bracket from below. 1 cm at this scale Materials per 200 g test candle at 8% (your jar not included) C1 single ₹225.66 · wick ₹5.90 C2 single ₹229.20 · wick ₹9.44 Cotton Braided ₹231.76 · wick ₹12.00 2 × C1 ₹231.56 · wicks ₹11.80 2 × C2 ₹238.64 · wicks ₹18.88 16 g Vanilla Bean ₹126.40 (100 g price) 184 g CSI 464 ₹93.36 wick(s), flat per wick The wick is 4.1% of a C2 candle's materials; the oil is 55.1%. Every extra rung costs a candle, not a wick. Excludes your jar, labour, freight, packaging and GST. Worked example, not CSI performance data.
Top: an 8.0 cm inside diameter at true scale. A single centred wick has to melt 50.27 cm² alone; a pair placed 4.0 cm apart splits it into two halves of 25.13 cm², each wick 2.0 cm from the glass. The spacing is a starting point for testing (our judgement), not a rule. Bottom: what each test candle costs in materials at CSI live prices on 1 October 2026. The bars are almost the same length: the wick is the cheap part, so every extra rung costs you a whole candle of vanilla and wax.
Straight answer
I use an 8 cm diameter jar with soy wax and 8% vanilla fragrance. Which wick sizes should I buy for my first burn-test ladder?
Buy all three of CSI's tabbed rungs and test them side by side, three candles each: Eco C1 (20-pack, ₹118.00), Eco C2 (10-pack, ₹94.40) and Cotton Braided (10-pack, ₹120.00), ₹332.40 in all. Expect the answer at C2 or Cotton Braided: an 8 cm inside diameter is a big pool for one wick (50.27 cm², about 61% more than CSI's 7 cm jars on our wall assumption), Cotton Braided's own page describes it for candles "exceeding 8 cm", and vanilla is one of the oils commonly linked to needing a wick step up. That is our reading, not a verdict. C1 is in the ladder to fail on the low side, so the bracket closes from below. The same packs also hold enough C1 and C2 for a double-wick arm (2 × C1, 2 × C2, three candles each) if Cotton Braided still leaves wax on the glass. Pour 200 g candles at 8% (16 g Vanilla Bean + 184 g CSI 464), burn them in 3–4 hour sessions, and buy production wicks only when all three candles of one set pass a full-life burn.
One line: ₹332.40 buys a closed three-rung ladder plus a double-wick arm; the candles, not the wicks, are the real cost.
The whole wick order: Eco C1 20-pack (₹118.00; the 10-pack is out of stock on 1 October 2026), Eco C2 10-pack (₹94.40) and Cotton Braided 10-pack (₹120.00). Every pack is in stock on 1 October 2026. Nothing bigger until a set passes full life.
Eco C1/C2 — from ₹94.40

The buy list, line by line

Nine candles to find the wick, six more to find out whether one wick is the wrong question.

Everything the first order needs, with the smallest in-stock pack that covers each line. The jar is the one item we cannot price: 8 cm is your jar, not a CSI listing. The 200 g fill is a labelled worked example; weigh your own fill line and keep the load at 8% of total candle weight, CSI's convention (16 g of oil + 184 g of wax).

From nothing, the nine-candle ladder costs ₹3,163.20 in cash (three wick packs, two 100 g bottles, two 1 kg bags, two centering packs) plus your jars. Add the double-wick arm in the same order and it is ₹4,710.60: a third bottle, a third bag and the steel holders; not one extra wick. If you already own the wax and oil, the order is the three wick packs: ₹332.40.

Is your "8 cm jar" really 8 cm wide?
Sixteen CSI glass listings read "Height 8 cm width 7 cm", and the 150 g Clear Glass Jar family is 8 cm tall with an outer diameter of about 7 cm. If one of those is your jar, it is a 7 cm jar and your ladder starts in the 7 cm adjacent-rungs post, not here. Measure across the inside of the mouth, inside edge to inside edge.

Why two 100 g bottles, not the cheapest fit: 100 g + 50 g (₹1,200.00) leaves 6 g, not one more candle. Two 100 g cost ₹380.00 more and leave 56 g: 3 candles, one re-poured rung if a cell splits. For fifteen, 100 + 100 + 50 g (₹1,990.00) leaves only 10 g.

Don't buy the 500 g yet: the Vanilla Bean 500 g is ₹3,840.00 and only ₹0.22 a gram cheaper than the 100 g. After fifteen candles it leaves 260 g sitting in your cupboard before you know which wick, or even which vanilla, you are keeping. Argued against our own interest: we would rather sell you the 500 g after the ladder, when it becomes 31 production candles with a wick you trust.

Why these rungs, and why nobody can name your wick

A ladder is not a guess with extra candles. It is the only honest way to buy a wick for a jar nobody has burned.

CSI's tabbed, ready-to-use wicks are Eco C1, Eco C2 and Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made. The Eco page states no size or jar range in the text we captured; Cotton Braided's names one: "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm". Around them sit untabbed, cut-to-length braid and one wooden-wick listing with no widths (see "Skip" below). So in CSI terms, "adjacent sizes" means C1 → C2 → Cotton Braided, then pairs of C1 or C2. There is no sized, tabbed wick between those rungs and none above Cotton Braided. Better you know that before you order.

The geometry: 8 cm is a lot of surface for one wick

Pool area is π × r² on the inside diameter: geometry, not a burn prediction. The 0.35 cm wall is our labelled assumption, used only where a figure is read as an outside diameter.

Pool geometry · what one or two wicks must melt
π r² on internal diameter · 0.35 cm wall assumed where a figure is the outside · all figures declared
Jar Inside diameter Pool area Per wick with two What it means for the order
Your jar, 8 cm measured inside 8.0 cm 50.27 cm² 25.13 cm² This ladder: C1 / C2 / Cotton Braided, pairs as the second arm
Your jar, if 8 cm is the outside 7.3 cm 41.85 cm² 20.93 cm² 20% less surface than you planned for; the centre may shift down a rung
CSI 7 cm listings (150 g family, matte jars) about 6.3 cm on our wall 31.17 cm² — The 7 cm cluster; an 8 cm inside has 61% more surface
CSI Apothecary Dome Lid jar (about 10 cm) about 9.3 cm on our wall 67.93 cm² 33.96 cm² The nearest wider CSI vessel; see the 10 cm spend-stop post

Cotton Braided's "exceeding 8 cm" makes your jar its boundary case. The Salsa 200 ml jar pages say "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks" but give no body diameter: one rung's worth of evidence, not a rule. A very rough rule of thumb (about one hour per 2.5 cm of width) puts a first burn to the edge at about 3.2 hours, inside the commonly quoted 3–4 hours for a full first pool; hence 3–4 hour test sessions.

The fragrance: vanilla commonly pushes a wick up

Heavier and vanillin-rich oils are commonly linked to needing a larger wick, or to more carbon on the wick, than light florals in the same jar: a tendency, not a law, and CSI has no measured wick data for any oil. The Vanilla Bean page lists "Vanillin Content: 2.5%" and says "Wick testing is recommended based on your container size and wax type." At 8% you are inside both stated ceilings, the oil page's "Up to 10% for soy wax" and CSI 464's "Fragrance Load Up to 10%"; 8% of total weight is 8.70% of wax weight, inside 10% on either basis.

Together, that puts the likely bracket at C2 to Cotton Braided: our judgement, and the reason C1 stays in the order. A bracket only closes when the chosen wick has a documented fail on each side. If C2 wins, C1 is the fail below and a hot Cotton Braided the fail above; if Cotton Braided wins, C2 is the fail below and the pairs test what lies above. Three C1 candles cost ₹676.98 in materials: the price of knowing.

Mistake: asking for "the wick for an 8 cm jar" and buying 100 of it. Why it fails: the right wick depends on the inside diameter, wax, oil, load, fill height and how long people burn the candle. A chart cannot see your jar; nor can we. Fix: buy three rungs at ladder counts, burn them, and let the candles choose. If your jar's tunnel story is already in hand ("tunnels, then catches up by burn 3"), read the 8 cm vanilla catch-up post before you order anything.

When to add the pairs: they cost no extra wicks, but six more candles (₹1,410.61 in materials plus six jars). Pour them with the ladder if you have a deadline; otherwise after burn 3, if Cotton Braided still leaves a ring. How to weigh one larger wick against two smaller is the 8.5 cm double-arm post; how far apart to set them is the double-wick spacing post.

Pack maths: bigger packs save nothing per wick

We sell the 1,000-pack. For a ladder, it is the most expensive way to buy nine wicks.

For the three tabbed rungs, CSI's price is flat per wick across every pack. Check it line by line.

Per-wick price by pack · CSI live pricing, 1 October 2026
Price ÷ wicks in the pack · two decimals · out-of-stock packs flagged
Wick Smallest pack Per wick Largest pack Per wick Saving per wick
Eco C1 10, ₹59.00, out of stock; 20, ₹118.00 ₹5.90 1,000, ₹5,900.00 ₹5.90 none
Eco C2 10, ₹94.40 ₹9.44 1,000, ₹9,440.00 ₹9.44 none
Cotton Braided 10, ₹120.00 ₹12.00 1,000, ₹12,000.00 ₹12.00 none
Performance Wooden Wicks (for contrast) 10, ₹590.00 ₹59.00 100, ₹4,130.00 ₹41.30 30% (labelled "Save 30%"); the 50-pack is ₹47.20, 20% (labelled "Save 25%")

So the pack decides only how much cash leaves today and how many unused wicks sit on your shelf if the ladder points elsewhere. The C2 1,000-pack (₹9,440.00) does not make a C2 candle one paisa cheaper; it makes you the owner of 991 spare C2 before you know C2 is your wick. Among CSI's tabbed wicks, only the wooden ones get cheaper per wick in bigger packs, and their "Save 25%" works out to 20%. (The cut-to-length braids are cheaper per metre at 10 m than at 5 m.)

Don't buy the big pack: not the C1 100 (₹590.00), not the C2 100 (₹944.00), not the Cotton Braided 100 (₹1,200.00). Each costs exactly what the same number of wicks costs in the small pack, and each is a bet on a ladder you haven't burned. Argued against our own interest: the three small packs (₹332.40) are the whole wick order for this page. Your next wick order is sized from the winner, by the formula further down.

The oil is the opposite case, and it matters more. Vanilla Bean's per gram does fall with size, from ₹8.67 at 15 g to ₹7.65 at 1 kg, but only ₹0.25 a gram between the 100 g and the 1 kg. And it is where the money goes: in the diagram above, 16 g of oil is ₹126.40 of a ₹229.20 C2 candle (55.1%), the wick ₹9.44 (4.1%). Every rung you add costs a candle. Every rung you skip can cost a wrong production order.

Pour the ladder: candles, grams, rupees

Change one thing, the wick. Hold everything else still, or the ladder measures your kitchen instead.

Nine candles, one variable: same wax bag, oil bottle, load, jar batch, fill, pour temperature, cure and room. Label the bases C1-a to CB-c (and 2C1-a… if you pour the pairs).

1
Measure three jars from your batchInside diameter at rim, middle and near the base; and the weight of water to your fill line (rules of thumb put wax at roughly 0.86–0.9 times that; confirm with a weighed pour). See external versus internal diameter and the pre-order spec sheet.
2
Weigh the batch, pour from one potNine candles: 1,656 g of CSI 464 and 144 g of Vanilla Bean, mixed once so every candle carries the same blend. CSI 464's page states "Pour Temperature 80°C – 90°C"; if your jar states a lower hot-pour limit, the lower figure governs.
3
Centre every wickA centering device per single, a steel holder per pair (4.0 cm apart to start). An off-centre wick fakes a tunnel.
4
Cure them identicallyThe Vanilla Bean page says "Cure Time: 48–72 hours for soy wax"; many makers wait about a week before judging throw.
5
Burn 3–4 hour sessions in still airTrim to about 5–6 mm (one CSI trimmer page: "Trim your wick to 1/4 inch before every burn"); no fan or AC vent; full cool-down between sessions; burn within sight.
6
Log every candle the same wayRing at N, E, S and W each hour, pool depth, trimmed flame height, soot and carbon, and near the bottom how close the flame sits to the glass, judged by eye, never by touch (the four-point pool log).

Each candle is ₹126.40 of oil plus ₹93.36 of wax plus the wick: worked examples that exclude your jar, labour, freight, packaging and GST. The dearest configuration (2 × C2) costs only ₹12.98 more per candle than the cheapest.

Why three candles a rung, not one
One candle can fail for reasons unrelated to the wick: an off-centre tab, a draught, an air pocket. Three lets one odd candle be outvoted. How many per size beyond three is the per-size sample count post.

The approval rule

Burn 3 tells you which candles to keep burning. Only the bottom of the jar tells you which wick to buy.

Two gates; only the second releases money. The thresholds are our judgement, readable off a photograph; commonly cited rules of thumb put pool depth at about 0.5–1 cm and flame height at about 2.5–5 cm. Fix your standard and keep it.

Approval rule · 3 candles per configuration (our judgement, labelled)
Gate 1 screens after burn 3 · Gate 2 approves after the full life to about 1 cm left · only Gate 2 triggers a production purchase
What the candles show Reading Next step Purchase
Gate 1: all 3 reach the glass all round by burn 3, the ring never widens, calm flame, no soot Leading configuration Keep burning all three to about 1 cm left Nothing yet
Ring still 2 mm or more at burn 3, wick centred, still air Too little heat for this jar and oil Drop the rung; it never gets reordered Nothing
Fast full pool with a tall flame, mushrooming or a pool well past 1 cm Too much heat Drop the rung; read the candle one rung down Nothing
Only 1 or 2 of the 3 pass Not decided Re-pour three more of that rung (56 g of oil is left for exactly that) Nothing, if you bought two 100 g bottles
Gate 2: all three candles of the leading configuration finish the full life with no heat, soot or flame failure in the final third Approved for this jar, wax, oil and load Size the production order (next section) Month's need + safety stock
C2 fails low, Cotton Braided fails high The answer sits between two CSI rungs Test the pairs; check centring and session length; ask us Pairs are already in your packs
Cotton Braided still leaves a ring; pairs reach the glass Double-wick territory for this oil Run the pairs to Gate 2 Double the wick count in production

Why all three, and why to the bottom? Heat commonly builds as a candle burns down: the pool can deepen and the flame grow in the final third, so a wick that looks perfect on burn 3 can run too hot near the base. How far down a test candle has to go before it counts is the acceptance-depth post. Whether a first-burn tunnel that closes by burn 3 is acceptable at 8 cm is the 8 cm catch-up post. This page owns the purchase consequence: no production order until Gate 2.

Mistake: approving the wick from one beautiful candle and ordering 1,000. Why it fails: one candle is one draught, one tab, one pour; and the first third of a candle hides the final third. Fix: approve a configuration (jar + wax + oil + load + wick) only when all three pass the full life. Change the oil, even to Dark Vanilla, and the approval does not carry over: why vanilla can need a different wick from lavender in the same jar.

From ladder to production quantity

The ladder buys a decision. The decision sets the order size.

Once a configuration passes Gate 2, size the next wick order from your own production, not from the pack list: wicks to buy = candles × wicks per candle × (1 + allowance). The allowance covers rejects and retests; 5% is our worked-example figure. Because CSI's three tabbed rungs are flat per wick, choose packs that add up to the number, nothing more.

Production exposure · worked example: 200 candles a month in your 8 cm jar
Wicks = 200 × wicks per candle × 1.05 · flat per-wick pricing · the oil line for scale · all figures declared
Winning configuration Wicks a month Wick cost a month Packs that cover it
C2 single 210 ₹1,982.40 2 × 100 + 1 × 10 = ₹1,982.40
Cotton Braided single 210 ₹2,520.00 2 × 100 + 1 × 10 = ₹2,520.00
2 × C1 420 ₹2,478.00 four 100-packs + one 20-pack, or one 500-pack and keep the rest
2 × C2 420 ₹3,964.80 four 100-packs + one 20-pack
For scale: Vanilla Bean, 3,200 g — ₹24,467.20 at the 1 kg per-gram price 3 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g

The configuration matters more than the pack: going from C2 single to 2 × C2 adds ₹1,982.40 a month here. And the wicks are small next to the oil (₹1,982.40 of C2 against ₹24,467.20 of vanilla). The expensive mistake is not the wrong wick; it is 200 candles of vanilla poured around it.

Reorder point and safety stock

A reorder point is daily use × your lead time + safety stock. In the worked example, 210 wicks a month is 7 a day. If your order-to-bench time is 10 days and you want a week of cover, reorder when you are down to 119 wicks. The 10 days is your figure: CSI dispatches from Pune and does not publish lead times or stock depth, so confirm dispatch on WhatsApp before a big run. Cheap, small wicks justify generous safety stock of an approved wick, and none of an unapproved one. Per-SKU reorder points for several wick sizes are the 500-candles-a-month reorder post; a four-week supplier lead time is the lead-time post.

Don't jump to the 1,000-pack after approval either: at 210 a month the C2 1,000-pack (₹9,440.00) is 4.8 months of stock, at the same ₹9.44 per wick as the 10-pack. It is cash on a shelf, and it is exposed to change: a new jar batch, a different vanilla or a move to a 10% load can all send you back to the ladder (the bulk-buy-after-full-life post). Buy a month plus safety stock; reorder on the formula.

A wick from another supplier later is a new wick, not an equivalent: the same-labelled-size supplier switch post.

What to buy, and what to skip

Five items, in the order the ladder needs them, chosen on page statements, price and stock on 1 October 2026. CSI publishes no wick-performance data, so nothing here is ranked on burn results. Oil candle counts use 16 g per 200 g candle and 12 g per 150 g candle.

1
wick · the low anchor, the centre and the pairs
Eco Candle Wicks — Thin (C1) and Thick (C2)
Two of the three tabbed rungs, and both halves of the double-wick arm. The page describes wicks of "natural fibers like cotton and paper" that "pair perfectly with soy wax" and, in the text we captured, states no length, width or jar range, so neither rung is "the 8 cm wick". The 200 ml Salsa jar pages say "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks" but give no body diameter: one rung, not a rule. Stock on 1 October 2026: the C1 10-pack is out of stock; every other pack of both is in. Per wick, the price is flat at every pack (₹5.90 C1, ₹9.44 C2). Argued against our own interest: buy the 20 and the 10, not the 100s.

2
wick · the top tabbed rung
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made
The top tabbed rung CSI lists, and the one whose page names a jar size: "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm", with "preventing tunneling" as the page's own claim. An 8 cm inside diameter sits right on that line, which is why it belongs in this ladder and is not assumed to win it. The page gives one dimension: "Height of the wick is 10.16 cm", so check it stands clear of your fill line in your jar. Limitation: the page states no width or braid count, and CSI lists no larger single tabbed wick, so if Cotton Braided tunnels, the next step is a pair, not a bigger single.

3
fragrance oil · gourmand · the oil in the question
Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil
The vanilla this ladder is costed on. The page states "Recommended Fragrance Load: Up to 10% for soy wax", so 8% is inside it and inside CSI 464's 10%. It lists "Vanillin Content: 2.5% (Potential discoloration; test with lighter waxes or consider adding color stabilizers)" (CSI does not currently list a colour stabiliser), "Cure Time: 48–72 hours for soy wax", and "Wick Recommendations: Cotton or wooden wicks for a steady and even burn. Wick testing is recommended based on your container size and wax type." Every size is in stock on 1 October 2026. Per gram it falls from ₹8.67 to ₹7.65, but the 500 g is only ₹0.22 a gram cheaper than the 100 g. Dark Vanilla is priced identically (page: "candles (6-10%)", "Vanillin present"); a wick result in one does not transfer to the other.

wax · the soy the ladder is poured in
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (Flakes Form) For Container Candles
The worked example's wax. The page states "Fragrance Load Up to 10%" and "Pour Temperature 80°C – 90°C", and claims "excellent glass adhesion" for single-pour container candles. Price is flat at ₹0.51 a gram from 1 kg to 10 kg, so the 5 kg is not cheaper per gram than the 1 kg. If you pour a different soy, run the ladder in that wax: wick results do not transfer between waxes. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (page: "up to 13% fragrance load capacity") is the other CSI container soy, at ₹599.00 a kilo.

tool · holds one, two or three wicks
Steel Wick Holder (Set of 5)
The holder for the double-wick arm. The page says "3-hole layout fits single, double, or triple wick setups" and "Fits most jar diameters (up to 9 cm wide)", so it spans an 8 cm jar. The holes are in a line and the text we captured states no spacing: measure the outer two against your 4.0 cm pair. For the nine singles, the Wick Centering Device (₹118.00 for 5, ₹23.60 each, one 4 mm hole, for openings "less than 4"") is cheaper. Argued against our own interest: two lolly sticks and tape hold a pair too.
Pack Price Per unit What it covers here

Pack of 10 ₹500.00 ₹50.00 all six doubles plus four singles at once

₹50.00 a holder in every pack size, reusable. Buy 5 — ₹250.00

Skip for this ladder: Performance Wooden Wicks (₹590.00 for 10): one listing with no widths, so it cannot form a ladder on its own; wooden versus cotton is a separate test. Eco Braided Wicks (₹472.00 for 5 m) and the Braided Wick Roll (₹706.82): unsized, cut to length; only worth testing if the ladder lands between rungs. Eco Candle Wicks Loose: its page describes it for "2 inch diameters", far below 8 cm.

Diwali is 8 November 2026, 38 days from 1 October 2026. A ladder poured this week and cured for a few days can pass Gate 1 by mid-October; the full-life burns for Gate 2 take the weeks after. Pour production only after Gate 2, and send us the approved configuration and candle count: we will quote the wicks, Vanilla Bean and CSI 464 with a GST invoice and a dispatch date.

Map of this cluster: 5501–5520

This hub owns the short answer for jar diameter → wick ladder: the buy list, the pack maths, the approval rule and the step to production. Each other post owns one purchasing decision for one jar situation.

Cluster map · 5502–5520
Diameters 6.5–12 cm (5502–5510), jar shape and glass (5511–5514), changing or standardising jars (5515–5518), sample breadth and the ladder builder (5519–5520)
The CSI principle
Buy the ladder, not the wick.
Three rungs at three candles each cost ₹332.40 in wicks. The candles cost more than the wicks, and a wrong production order costs more than both. Approve on the full life, then buy by the formula.
"The cheapest wick you will ever buy is the one in a test candle. The dearest is the 1,000th one in the wrong jar."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the wicks, vanilla oil, wax and holders named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you to buy our smallest wick packs, that bigger packs save nothing per wick, that our tabbed range is three rungs with nothing in between, and that we list no 8 cm-wide jar.

Every price was verified on CSI's live store on 1 October 2026. Stock was checked per size: the Eco C1 10-pack is out of stock on that date and is flagged wherever it appears; every other size shown is in stock. Wick, oil, wax and holder wording is quoted from the product pages; where a page is silent in the text we captured, we say so.

The likely bracket (C2 to Cotton Braided), the approval thresholds, the 200 g fill, the 0.35 cm wall, the 4.0 cm pair spacing, the 5% allowance and the production figures are our judgement or worked examples; melt-pool times, depths and flame heights are commonly cited rules of thumb, not CSI data; CSI publishes no wick-performance data. Frequently asked questions

What size wick do I need for an 8 cm candle jar?
No one can name it before you burn it: inside diameter, wax, oil, load and fill height all change it. With CSI wicks, test Eco C1, Eco C2 and Cotton Braided, three candles each. For soy and 8% vanilla, our judgement is that the answer is likely C2 or Cotton Braided.
How many wicks should I buy for wick testing?
Three per rung per configuration. For three rungs that is nine wicks; add a double-wick arm (2 × C1, 2 × C2, three candles each) and it is 21. CSI's smallest in-stock packs, C1 20, C2 10 and Cotton Braided 10, cover all of it for ₹332.40.
Is it cheaper to buy candle wicks in bulk?
Not for CSI's Eco C1, Eco C2 or Cotton Braided: each costs the same per wick in every pack (₹5.90, ₹9.44, ₹12.00). A bigger pack only raises your cash outlay. Among the tabbed wicks, the Performance Wooden Wicks are the exception: their 50-pack is 20% cheaper per wick, not the 25% its label says.
Does vanilla fragrance need a bigger wick?
Commonly, yes: vanillin-rich and heavier oils are often linked to needing a wick step up or to more carbon on the wick. It is a tendency, not a rule, which is why the ladder includes the rung below and the rung above your expected wick.
Should an 8 cm candle have one wick or two?
Test both if you can. An 8 cm inside diameter is 50.27 cm² for one wick, or 25.13 cm² each for two. Start with the single ladder; if Cotton Braided, CSI's top tabbed rung, still leaves a ring, the pairs are already in your packs.
How much fragrance oil do I need for a 200 g candle at 8%?
16 g of oil and 184 g of wax, with load as a percentage of total candle weight. Nine test candles need 144 g; two 100 g bottles of Vanilla Bean (₹1,580.00) cover them and leave 56 g for a three-candle re-pour.
Your first wick order for an 8 cm jar
C1 20 + C2 10 + Cotton Braided 10 = ₹332.40: a closed ladder and a double-wick arm.
Measure the inside of your jar, pour nine 200 g candles at 8% Vanilla Bean, burn in 3–4 hour sessions, screen at burn 3 and approve only on the full life. Send us your inside diameter on WhatsApp and we will check the order before you pay.

Non-price figures: load is a percentage of total candle weight (200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax; the standard 150 g candle at 8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax). The 200 g fill, the 8.0 cm inside diameter and the 0.35 cm wall are labelled assumptions; pool area = π r² on the inside radius. Ceilings are as the pages state (CSI 464 up to 10%, pour 80–90°C; Vanilla Bean up to 10% for soy): formulation limits, not regulatory ones. Melt-pool times (about 3–4 hours; about an hour per 2.5 cm), depth (about 0.5–1 cm) and flame height (about 2.5–5 cm) are commonly cited rules of thumb. The likely bracket, the pair spacing, the approval gates, the 5% allowance, the 200-candle month and the 10-day lead time are editorial judgement and worked examples. Costs exclude jars, labour, freight, packaging and GST. Diwali 8 November 2026 is a calendar fact.
