Fragrance Oil for Paraffin Wax Commercial Production
शेयर करना
Why does fragrance dominate paraffin costs? Because the wax is cheap. With Vanilla Bean, the oil is 46.3% of a paraffin candle's material cost, against 39.6% in soy chunks. See the tier table.
What does a 500-candle paraffin run cost? Four scents, 125 candles each, 200 g at 8%: ₹1,12,636.28 in materials, or ₹225.27 a candle. Oil is 35.8% of the bill and wax 30.2%. Itemised in the run.
How much oil for a 5 kg batch of paraffin? At 8% of finished weight, 400 g of oil and 4,600 g of wax make 25 candles of 200 g. 8% is a test value; no paraffin ceiling is published in this data.
How much of the candle is fragrance
The table sets six oils from six price tiers inside the same 200 g candle at an 8% test load, once in paraffin pellets and once in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, with an Eco Thin C1 wick (₹5.90) and a White Matte Glass Jar (₹70.80). The column that matters for production is the ratio of oil cost to wax cost. Below 1×, wax is the bigger ingredient cost; above it, oil is.
| Oil | ₹/g at 1 kg | Oil per candle | Oil ÷ paraffin cost | Paraffin candle | Oil's share (paraffin) | Soy chunks candle | Oil's share (soy) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citrus Lemon | ₹2.83 | ₹45.31 | 0.70× | ₹187.15 | 24.2% | ₹232.23 | 19.5% |
| Royal Apricot | ₹3.67 | ₹58.67 | 0.90× | ₹200.51 | 29.3% | ₹245.59 | 23.9% |
| Sandalwood | ₹5.03 | ₹80.43 | 1.23× | ₹222.26 | 36.2% | ₹267.34 | 30.1% |
| Vanilla Bean | ₹7.65 | ₹122.34 | 1.88× | ₹264.17 | 46.3% | ₹309.25 | 39.6% |
| Santal Noir | ₹9.12 | ₹145.92 | 2.24× | ₹287.76 | 50.7% | ₹332.84 | 43.8% |
| Club De Nuit Intense Inspired | ₹24.06 | ₹384.90 | 5.91× | ₹526.73 | 73.1% | ₹571.81 | 67.3% |
Only the two value oils cost less than the paraffin they scent: Citrus Lemon at 0.70× and Royal Apricot at 0.90×. From Sandalwood upward, the oil costs more than the wax, and with Vanilla Bean it costs 1.88 times the wax. In soy chunks, the same oils take a smaller share because the wax costs ₹110.22 instead of ₹65.14. The practical conclusion is simple: in a paraffin production run, a rupee saved on oil is worth more than a rupee saved anywhere else, because the oil line is the one that varies.
The batch sheet
Production is poured in batches, and the batch is the natural unit for weighing oil. The sheet below uses a 5 kg batch of finished candle, which makes 25 candles of 200 g. Load is a percentage of the finished weight: at 8%, oil = 5,000 g × 0.08 = 400 g and wax = 4,600 g. These loads are test values; no fragrance ceiling is published for CSI's paraffin in this data, so check the wax page or ask on WhatsApp for the wax maker's stated maximum.
| Load | Oil | Wax | Candles | Wax cost | Oil cost | Batch material cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6% (test value) | 300 g | 4,700 g | 25 | ₹1,663.80 | ₹1,508.04 | ₹5,089.34 |
| 8% (test value) | 400 g | 4,600 g | 25 | ₹1,628.40 | ₹2,010.72 | ₹5,556.62 |
| 10% (test value) | 500 g | 4,500 g | 25 | ₹1,593.00 | ₹2,513.40 | ₹6,023.90 |
At 8%, one batch costs ₹1,628.40 in paraffin and ₹2,010.72 in Sandalwood. Wick and jar add ₹1,917.50. Scale the sheet to your melter: if you pour 2 kg batches, divide by 2.5; if you pour 10 kg, double it. The ratio is what you write on the wall of the workshop: at 8%, 80 g of oil for every 920 g of wax, or 8.7 g of oil per 100 g of wax. For any other load, oil per kilo of wax = 1,000 × L ÷ (1 − L).
A 500-candle run, priced
The run: 500 container candles of 200 g at an 8% test load, four scents of 125 candles each, for the festive season. Each scent needs 125 × 16 g = 2,000 g of oil, or 2,080 g with a 4% working allowance. For each oil, the pack mix below is the cheapest combination of in-stock listed sizes, using no more than eight packs, that covers 2,080 g. The oils span four tiers: Citrus Lemon (value), Royal Apricot (value, starting at 50 g), Sandalwood (mid) and Vanilla Bean (premium gourmand).
| Oil | Candles | Oil needed | Cheapest pack mix | Cost | Material cost per candle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citrus Lemon | 125 | 2,080 g | 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g | ₹5,964.00 | ₹187.15 |
| Royal Apricot | 125 | 2,080 g | 2 × 1 kg + 2 × 50 g | ₹7,700.00 | ₹200.51 |
| Sandalwood | 125 | 2,080 g | 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g | ₹10,556.28 | ₹222.26 |
| Vanilla Bean | 125 | 2,080 g | 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 100 g | ₹16,082.00 | ₹264.17 |
| Four scents | 500 | ₹40,302.28 |
| Line | Quantity | Cost | Share of the run |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fragrance oils | 8,320 g across four scents | ₹40,302.28 | 35.8% |
| Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets | 96 kg (500 × 184 g + 4%) — ask for a quote | ₹33,984.00 | 30.2% |
| White Matte Glass Jar | 100 packs of 5 | ₹35,400.00 | 31.4% |
| Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 | 500 | ₹2,950.00 | 2.6% |
| Total | 500 candles | ₹1,12,636.28 | 100% |
| Per candle | ₹225.27 |
Across the run, oil is 35.8% of the material bill, jars 31.4% and paraffin only 30.2%. Had the run used Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599.00 a kilo, the same 96 kg would cost ₹57,504.00, ₹23,520.00 more. The paraffin line is listed only up to 1 kg a pack, so 96 kg is a quantity for a WhatsApp quote; the table uses the listed rate because no bulk discount figure is published. The jar is the second-largest line, so if you use a different container, replace ₹70.80 with your own jar cost and the rest of the sheet still holds.
| Pack | Price | Per gram | 200 g candles at 16 g |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 g | ₹183.00 | ₹3.66 | 3.12 |

Load at production scale
A load decision that looks small per candle becomes large across a run. The table applies three test loads to the whole 500-candle run using Sandalwood at its 1 kg rate, so you can see what the choice is worth before you commit.
| Load | Oil for the run | Material cost per candle | Run material cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6% | 6.0 kg | ₹203.57 | ₹1,01,786.80 |
| 8% | 8.0 kg | ₹222.26 | ₹1,11,132.40 |
| 10% | 10.0 kg | ₹240.96 | ₹1,20,478.00 |
Moving from 6% to 10% adds ₹37.38 per candle and ₹18,691.20 across the run, and needs 4 kg more oil. If a side-by-side test shows 8% smells as good as 10% in your candle, that is ₹9,345.60 kept. How Much Fragrance Oil Should I Use in Paraffin Wax? sets out the ladder, and Which Fragrance Oils Give Strong Hot Throw in Paraffin Wax? tests hot throw across oils before you commit production quantities.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We sell every oil tier on this page, including the designer-inspired oils. We still say plainly that a premium oil can wipe out paraffin's cost advantage, and that a value range belongs in the value and mid tiers.
Every oil and wax price on this page comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026; the Eco 500-wick pack is from the 25 September pull. Jar, wick and scale prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Pack mixes are the cheapest combination of in-stock listed sizes, at most eight packs per oil. Every total is plain arithmetic on listed prices, shown to two decimals.
The 200 g candle, 8% load, 5 kg batch and 4% allowance are working assumptions. No fragrance ceiling is published for CSI's paraffin in this data, so loads are test values.
