Quick answers — read this first
What are the best fragrance oils for Valentine's Day candles? Our ranking of CSI oils: 1 British Rose, 2 the Forever Red listing, 3 Japanese Cherry Blossom, 4 Spicy Raspberry, 5 Dark Vanilla Oud, 6 Cinnamon Vanilla. Ranked on Valentine fit, stated candle load, price per gram, test-size availability and base weight, not on strength, which CSI does not measure.

When should I test Valentine's candles? Valentine's Day is Sunday 14 February 2027. Finish testing by early January (Monday 4 January 2027 is a sensible line), because production, curing and delivery all have to fit into the 41 days, about six weeks, between that date and Valentine's Day.

What does it cost to test all six? ₹1,721.80 at 50 g each, every size of all six in stock on 24 September 2026. The top three alone are ₹831.40.

Which is the cheapest Valentine oil? Of the six ranked, British Rose: ₹50.98 of oil in a 150 g candle at 8%, and ₹16.99 in a 50 g heart-jar candle.
The short answer
Number one: British Rose. Rose is the Valentine note, the page states up to 10% in soy, and it is the cheapest per gram of the six.
The red candle: the Forever Red listing (pomegranate, red cherry, jasmine, peony, vanilla, amber). Strong fit, higher price, no 15 g.
For him: Dark Vanilla Oud, vanilla and cardamom over oud, amber and cedar.
Timing: order test oils by mid-October, burn through December, decide by 4 January 2027. Production quantities and order-by dates are on the wholesale page.
Valentine scorecard: how the ranking was built Each criterion scored 0–2 from the product page and price list; Valentine fit counts double. Not a strength score. RANK · OIL Valentine fit ×2 Load stated ₹/g at 50 g 15 g to test Base weight TOTAL /12 1 British Rose 10 2 Forever Red * 10 3 Japanese Cherry Blossom 9 4 Spicy Raspberry 9 5 Dark Vanilla Oud 9 6 Cinnamon Vanilla 8 — Pink Crush 9 Valentine fit: 2 = rose or a red fruit leads the stated notes; 1 = romantic but blossom-, vanilla- or oud-led. Load stated: 2 = the page states a candle load. ₹/g at 50 g: 2 = under ₹5.00; 1 = ₹5.00–₹7.99; 0 = ₹8.00 or more. 15 g to test: 2 = a 15 g size is listed and in stock; 1 = the smallest size is 50 g. Base weight: 2 = musk, amber or woods named in the base; 1 = sweet base only; 0 = no base named. Ties broken by price per gram at 50 g. Pink Crush (unranked) scores 9: level with ranks 3–5, last of them on price. On points it beats Cinnamon Vanilla (8), which stays sixth by our choice (see text). * Brand-inspired listing. All data from CSI product pages and live pricing, verified 24 September 2026. Scores are editorial judgement on that data.
The ranking, criterion by criterion. British Rose and Forever Red tie on 10 of 12 and British Rose takes first on price per gram. The middle of the table is close: three ranked oils on 9, plus the unranked Pink Crush, which also scores 9 but comes last of the four on the price tie-break (₹8.88 per gram at 50 g against ₹5.40, ₹5.98 and ₹6.40). On points it beats Cinnamon Vanilla (8); why Cinnamon Vanilla keeps sixth place is set out in the last section. The difference between the 9s is the difference between them is a question of what your Valentine customer wants, which is why the section after the ranking matters as much as the order.
Straight answer
Which CSI fragrance oils should I use for Valentine's Day candles, and when do I need to decide?
If you make one Valentine candle, make it rose: British Rose (₹212.40 for 50 g) is the most recognisable Valentine note, its page states up to 10% in soy, and at ₹50.98 of oil per 150 g candle it is the cheapest of our six. If you make two, add the red one: the Forever Red listing (₹349.00 for 50 g), whose page states "Performs strongly in soy and paraffin at 8-10%". If you make three, add Japanese Cherry Blossom (₹270.00) for the soft pink option, or Dark Vanilla Oud (₹320.00) if your third customer is a man. Order your test oils by mid-October, pour through November, burn through December, and decide by Monday 4 January 2027: that leaves 41 days, about six weeks, for production, curing and delivery before Sunday 14 February 2027. How many kilograms to order and by when is worked out in Valentine's Day Candle Fragrance Oils Wholesale.
One line: rose first, red second, blossom or vanilla-oud third; test at 50 g now and decide by 4 January 2027.
Rank 1, and the cheapest to test. British Rose 50 g is ₹212.40 (₹4.25/g), four 150 g candles at 8% or twelve 50 g heart-jar candles. In stock at every size on 24 September 2026.

How we ranked them, and what the ranking is not

A ranking you cannot check is an opinion. This one shows its working.

Most "best Valentine scents" lists are ranked by someone's nose. We can't do that honestly for you, because your customers' noses matter more than ours and CSI has no throw measurements for these oils. So we ranked on things you can check on each product page and the price list, all on 24 September 2026, and scored each from 0 to 2.

The five ranking criteria
What each criterion measures and why it matters for a Valentine candle
Criterion Scored from Why it matters for Valentine's
Valentine fit (counts double) Rose or a red fruit leads the stated notes = 2; romantic but blossom-, vanilla- or oud-led = 1 Valentine shoppers buy on recognition: rose and red read "Valentine" before the lid is off.
Candle load stated The oil page states a candle load = 2; none stated = 0 A stated load gives you a written starting range; without one you work inside the wax ceiling and test harder.
Price per gram at 50 g Under ₹5.00 = 2; ₹5.00–₹7.99 = 1; ₹8.00 or more = 0 Valentine candles are often small gifts at sharp price points; oil cost matters.
15 g test size 15 g listed and in stock = 2; smallest is 50 g = 1 Lets you cold-sniff cheaply before a proper test.
Base weight Musk, amber or woods named in the base = 2; sweet base only = 1; no base named = 0 The base is what lingers after a candlelit dinner.

Every oil in the ranking is in stock at every listed size, so stock depth did not separate them; it did knock out several attractive oils before scoring (see the last section). The scores are editorial judgement applied to page data. Change the weights and the order can change: if you care more about base weight than price, Forever Red and Japanese Cherry Blossom move ahead of British Rose. That is the point of showing the working.

What this ranking is not: a strength ranking, a bestseller list or a prediction of what will sell for you. CSI publishes no sales or throw data and we will not invent any. If a supplier tells you an oil is "the number one Valentine scent", ask them what they measured.

The six best CSI oils for Valentine's candles, ranked

Each card shows every listed size with stock on 24 September 2026. Candle counts assume 150 g at 8% (12 g of oil); a 50 g heart-jar candle at 8% uses 4 g.

1
rank 1 · rose · score 10/12
British Rose Fragrance Oil
The Valentine note, at the lowest cost per candle of the six. The page describes "fresh, dewy rose petals with subtle green undertones and a soft floral finish" and states "candles (up to 10% soy, up to 6% paraffin)". It scores full marks on fit, stated load, price and test size, and zero on base weight, because the page names no base. That gap is its one real limitation for Valentine's: a rose with no musk or wood beneath it can fade from the room sooner, so compare your 8% and 10% candles after blow-out. Its three published reviews are all five stars, one noting a strong throw "at the minimum percentage".

2
rank 2 · red fruit and floral · score 10/12 · brand-inspired listing
Forever Red Bath and Body Works Inspired Fragrance Oil
The most "Valentine red" oil in the range. Stated notes: "Opens with pomegranate and red cherry - juicy and bold. Turns floral and elegant with jasmine, peony, and soft plum. Settles into creamy vanilla, amber, sandalwood, and light musk". The page states "Performs strongly in soy and paraffin at 8-10%" and describes it as "IFRA certified" (the page's wording). The name on this card is CSI's product listing name: the oil is CSI's interpretation of a style, CSI is not affiliated with the brand, and neither the brand nor the listing name should appear on your label. Limitations: no 15 g, and at ₹6.98 per gram it costs ₹32.78 more per 8% candle than British Rose. Its range starts at 8%, so test 8%, 9% and 10%.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

1 kg is its cheapest per gram at ₹6.50, 6.9% below the 50 g. Buy Forever Red
3
rank 3 · soft pink floral · score 9/12
Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Oil
The soft, pink Valentine candle for customers who find red too loud. The page describes "sweet cherry and soft pink petals opening into a rose and jasmine heart, grounded by warm sandalwood and musk" and states "6-13% for candles". It lost a point on Valentine fit only because it leads with blossom rather than rose; the rose is in its heart. Two ceilings: in Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (up to 10%) 10% governs; in CSI 468 or Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (up to 13%) the page range is available, but test 6%, 8% and 10% first. Limitation: blossom is the gentlest family here, so at 6% in a large room it may barely register.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹104.00 ₹6.93 1
50 gm ₹270.00 ₹5.40 4
100 gm ₹500.00 ₹5.00 8

1 kg ₹4,842.00 ₹4.84 83
₹64.80 of oil per 8% candle at 50 g; 1 kg is ₹4.84/g. Buy Japanese Cherry Blossom
4
rank 4 · spiced red fruit · score 9/12
Spicy Raspberry
The grown-up red: "Top Notes: Fresh Raspberry, Pink Pepper | Heart Notes: Cinnamon, Rose, Clove | Base Notes: Vanilla, Amber, Soft Musk". Raspberry and rose for Valentine, pink pepper and clove so it does not read as a sweet shop, and a proper base. It lost two points because the page states no candle load, so the wax ceiling governs (10% in CSI 464) and you should test at 6%, 8% and 10% with extra care. Limitation: check you buy this listing, not the perfume-grade "Spicy Raspberry" listing, which is a different product with its 100 g and 1 kg out of stock. The 15 g here is 10% dearer per gram than the 50 g.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

50g ₹299.00 ₹5.98 4
100g ₹599.00 ₹5.99 8

5
rank 5 · for him · vanilla over oud · score 9/12
Dark Vanilla Oud
The Valentine candle for men, or for couples who dislike florals. The page describes "opening with vanilla and spicy cardamom, deepening into exotic oud and deep amber, and settling into warm musk and woody cedar", states "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles" and calls it "A rich, IFRA-certified vanilla oud fragrance oil" (the page's wording). It scores low on fit only because it names no rose or red fruit; for the "for him" shelf that is the point. One published review reads "M obsessed with the vanilla fragrance". Limitation: oud divides people; test it blind before it becomes your men's hero.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹105.02 ₹7.00 1
50 gm ₹320.00 ₹6.40 4
100 gm ₹590.00 ₹5.90 8
500 gm ₹2,845.00 ₹5.69 41
1 kg ₹5,691.00 ₹5.69 83
1 kg is 11.1% cheaper per gram than 50 g: ₹68.29 per candle vs ₹76.80. Buy Dark Vanilla Oud
6
rank 6 · warm vanilla · score 8/12
Cinnamon Vanilla
The cosy, "night in" Valentine candle. Stated notes: "cinnamon and clove top notes, vanilla bean and sugar middle notes, and cream and butter base". The page states "Up to 13% load for candles" and describes it as IFRA-certified and "Phthalate-free" (the page's wording). It has two published reviews, one five-star and one four-star. It ranks last of the six because it is vanilla-and-spice rather than rose or red, and its base is sweet rather than musky; on points it is also one below the unranked Pink Crush (9), and it keeps sixth place as our choice for the warm, non-floral slot (see the last section). Its stated 13% is the joint-highest ceiling here, level with Japanese Cherry Blossom's 6–13%, but 13% is available only in CSI 468 or Soy Wax Chunks, and a ceiling is not a target. Limitation: spiced vanilla can read Christmas as much as Valentine's, so give it a Valentine name and jar.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹106.20 ₹7.08 1
50 gm ₹271.40 ₹5.43 4
100 gm ₹483.80 ₹4.84 8
500 gm ₹2,301.00 ₹4.60 41
1 kg ₹4,554.80 ₹4.55 83
Among the cheapest to scale: ₹54.66 per 8% candle at 1 kg (16.1% below 50 g). Buy Cinnamon Vanilla
Test all six: 50 g each, ₹1,721.80. Sniff first: 15 g of the five that list it plus Forever Red at 50 g, ₹857.62; the 15 g sizes are dearer per gram (British Rose's is 48% dearer than its 50 g), so use them only to rule oils out. Top three only: ₹831.40. Which basket and route suits your order size is worked through in Buy Romantic Candle Fragrance Oils in India.

Which oil for which Valentine customer

Valentine's Day is not one customer. It is at least four, and they do not want the same candle.

The ranking tells you which oils are the strongest all-rounders. Your range should be built around who is buying. In our experience of what Indian candle makers ask us for, four Valentine customers come up again and again.

Valentine customers and the ranked oils that suit them
Our judgement; test on real customers from each group
Customer What they want First choice Second choice Oil per 150 g candle at 8%
Buying for a partner, classic Unmistakably romantic, safe British Rose Forever Red listing ₹50.98 / ₹83.76
Young couples, first Valentine's Pink, playful, giftable at a low price Japanese Cherry Blossom Spicy Raspberry ₹64.80 / ₹71.76
Buying for him Warm, not floral Dark Vanilla Oud Cinnamon Vanilla ₹76.80 / ₹65.14
Self-gift, "night in" Cosy, comforting Cinnamon Vanilla British Rose ₹65.14 / ₹50.98

Small candles carry Valentine's

A large share of Valentine's candle gifting is small and impulse-priced: a candle added to flowers or chocolates. That favours the cheaper oils and smaller vessels. A 50 g candle at 8% needs 4 g of oil, so a 50 g bottle fills twelve. Worked example in the Heart Cutout Velvet Candle Jar (Red), which states a 50 g wax capacity: 4 g British Rose (₹16.99) + 46 g of CSI 464 (₹23.34) + one jar (₹45.00 from the pack of 10) + one C1 wick (₹5.90) = ₹91.23, before labour, freight, packaging and GST. In Forever Red the oil would be ₹27.92. The white version of that heart jar is out of stock on 24 September 2026; the red is in stock.

One oil, two sizes
Launch your number-one oil in two sizes, a 50 g heart jar and a 150 g jar, rather than six oils in one size. It halves the testing and makes your Valentine shelf easier to read. The mechanics of gift sets and hampers are covered in Fragrance Oils for Romantic Gift Candles.

Valentine's Day 2027: test by early January

Sunday 14 February 2027 is 143 days from 24 September 2026, when these prices were checked. That sounds like plenty. It is not, once you count backwards: cure time, production, packing and delivery all have to fit after your decision, and your customers will want their candles before the informal "Valentine week" that many Indian shoppers observe from 7 February. The test side of the calendar is below; the production side (kilograms, order-by dates, reorders) is in Valentine's Day Candle Fragrance Oils Wholesale.

Valentine's Day 2027, working backwards · calendar facts, not forecasts
From test oils to a locked decision by 4 January 2027
By Days before 14 Feb Test milestone
Thursday 15 October 2026 122 Order the six ranked oils at 50 g (₹1,721.80) and test wax, jars and wicks.
Sunday 15 November 2026 91 All load tests poured: three loads per oil, labelled, curing. Leaves Diwali week (8 November 2026) free.
Tuesday 15 December 2026 61 Cold-sniff and burn tests done at day 7 and day 14 of cure; shortlist two or three oils.
Sunday 20 December 2026 56 Retest candles poured at the chosen loads, in the jars you will sell in.
Monday 4 January 2027 41 Decision locked: oils, loads, jars, names. Hand over to production planning.
Sunday 7 February 2027 7 Start of the informal Valentine week; your stock should already be with customers or retailers.
Sunday 14 February 2027 0 Valentine's Day.
1
Pour three loads of each oil in one session6%, 8% and 10% for British Rose, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Spicy Raspberry, Dark Vanilla Oud and Cinnamon Vanilla; 8%, 9% and 10% for Forever Red, whose page range starts at 8%. In a 150 g candle that is 9 g, 12 g or 15 g of oil (13.5 g at 9%). Same wax, jar, wick and temperatures throughout.
2
Cure and compare at day 7 and day 14None of the six pages states a cure time. At least 48–72 hours is common practice and soy is often given longer; December gives you time for a full two-week comparison, so use it.
3
Blind-test with the customer, not the makerHide the labels and ask three or four people from your target group (see the customer table) to pick the "Valentine candle". Record what they pick first and what they say; "smells like a gift" is a better signal than "strong".
4
Burn in the evening, in a small roomValentine candles are lit at dinner or in a bedroom. Two to three hours, door closed; note at 30, 60 and 120 minutes, and ten minutes after blow-out.
5
Check the jar colour against the scentPour your retest candles in the red, pink or heart jars you plan to sell. A red jar can make a rose read deeper; a vanilla in a clear jar needs the colour check described in Luxury Romantic Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles.
6
Lock the decision by 4 January 2027Write down oil, load, jar, wick and name for each Valentine product. Anything not locked by then is a risk to your delivery date, not a creative choice.
Mistake: starting Valentine tests in January because "February is ages away". Fix: a January start leaves no room for a failed oil. If your first choice soots or fades, you need December to retest. Order test oils in October while Diwali stock is moving; the 50 g bottles are small enough to fit around it.

Jars, colour and names that suit Valentine's

The scent carries the candle, but Valentine's is a visual season, and the vessel changes how the oil is read. From CSI's glass jars collection on 24 September 2026: the Heart Cutout Velvet Candle Jar (Red) (50 g wax capacity; ₹45.00 each, ₹225.00 for 5, ₹450.00 for 10) is in stock; the Pink Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) (₹1,070.00 for 10) is in stock; the Red Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) (₹1,070.00 for 10, ₹107.00 each) is in stock but its listing title says "Deliveries Starting 5th Dec", so confirm dispatch before you plan retests in it. For moulded Valentine pieces, the Mini Heart Mould is ₹153.40; moulded candles need a pillar-type wax, and CSI's pillar wax page does not state a fragrance ceiling, so test conservatively.

Worked example · one oil, two Valentine formats
British Rose and the Forever Red listing at 8%, CSI 464, C1 wick (excludes labour, freight, packaging and GST)
Format Oil British Rose candle Forever Red candle
50 g Heart Cutout Velvet Candle Jar (Red) 4 g ₹91.23 ₹102.16
150 g Red Glass Jar with Golden Lid 12 g ₹233.90 ₹266.68

Colour the wax, or not

Red wax says Valentine's instantly; Red Candle Dye Chips (₹250.00) and Pink Liquid Candle Dye (₹236.00) are in stock. Dye is one more variable, so add it to your retest candles, not your first load tests, and burn a dyed candle before you sell one; heavily dyed wax can behave differently from undyed wax.

Name it yourself

Give every Valentine candle your own name ("First Date", "Red Letter", "Late Supper"). Never use a brand name that appears in a CSI listing on your label, and avoid scent names that belong to famous retail products. The listing name is CSI's; the candle's name should be yours.

Good oils we left out of the top six

Some of the prettiest romantic oils did not make the list. Here is why, in plain numbers.
Considered, not ranked · stock and price on 24 September 2026
Valentine-adjacent oils and the reason each missed the top six
Oil Why it missed Fact
Pink Crush Strong fit (red berries, peony, rose). It scores 9: fit 4, load stated 2 (the page says "Recommended load - candles: 8-10% soy wax"), price 0 (₹8.88/g), 15 g 1 (smallest size 50 g), base 2 (white musk). That ties ranks 3–5, but it comes last of the 9s on the price tie-break, and it is one point above Cinnamon Vanilla. We kept Cinnamon Vanilla sixth as an editorial choice: the six already has three rose or red-fruit oils, Cinnamon Vanilla is the warm, non-floral "night in" option, and Pink Crush is the dearest candle-grade oil here with no 15 g. If you want a fourth red, swap Pink Crush in. ₹8.88/g at 50 g; ₹106.56 of oil per 8% candle.
Love Spell Musky and powdery, more "intimate base" than Valentine headline; no 15 g. States "High throw in soy wax at 8-10%"; 100 g is its cheapest per gram (₹4.49).
Fresh Strawberries A lovely red fruit that reads summer as much as Valentine's; page caps at 9%. ₹4.25/g at 50 g, same as British Rose.
Smoked Rose Royale A dark evening rose for a luxury tier; no candle load stated; no size below 100 g. ₹799.00 for 100 g; covered in the luxury soy guide.
Into The Night and Dahlia (brand-inspired listings) Romantic notes, but thin stock at larger sizes and a high per-gram price. Into The Night 1 kg and Dahlia 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg out of stock on 24 September 2026.
Ban Magnet Fragrance Oil Smoked rose, incense and dark musk: a seductive evening scent, but perfume-grade with no candle load stated and no size below 100 g. ₹899.00 for 100 g (₹8.99/g).
Argued against our own interest: you do not need six Valentine oils. Most small makers will sell more from two excellent Valentine candles in two sizes than from six average ones. We would sell you all six. For a first Valentine's, buy the top three at 50 g (₹831.40), keep the one or two that your blind testers pick, and put the rest of the budget into jars.

If Valentine's is part of a wider romantic range, the palette behind these choices is in Romantic Fragrance Oils for Candle Making, and a five-scent romantic line with a role for each is in Best Fragrances for a Romantic Candle Collection. Anniversary candles, which use many of the same oils with a different mood, are covered in Fragrance Oils for Anniversary Gift Candles.

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every oil and jar on this page and does not sell finished candles. We have shown the scoring behind the ranking, placed a brand-inspired listing below a cheaper rose on price, and advised you to buy fewer oils than we list.

Every price, pack size, per-gram figure and stock state was taken from CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026, with out-of-stock sizes flagged. Notes, candle loads and IFRA wording are quoted from each product page; where a page states no candle load, we say so.

What scent is best for a Valentine's Day candle?
Rose is the most recognisable Valentine note, followed by red fruits such as cherry, pomegranate and raspberry, and warm vanilla. Our CSI ranking: British Rose, the Forever Red listing, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Spicy Raspberry, Dark Vanilla Oud and Cinnamon Vanilla.
When should I start making Valentine's candles to sell?
Order test oils by mid-October, pour load tests by mid-November, finish burn tests in December and lock your choices by early January (4 January 2027 is a sensible line) for Valentine's Day on Sunday 14 February 2027. Production then has about six weeks.
What is a good Valentine's candle scent for men?
A warm, non-floral scent: at CSI, Dark Vanilla Oud (vanilla and cardamom over oud, amber, musk and cedar; page states 6–10% for candles) or Cinnamon Vanilla. Test oud blind before relying on it; it divides people.
How much fragrance oil for a 50 g heart candle?
At 8% of total weight, 4 g of oil and 46 g of wax, so a 50 g bottle fills twelve. Worked example with British Rose in the red Heart Cutout Velvet Candle Jar: ₹91.23 in materials, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Can I call my candle "Forever Red" if I use that oil?
We advise against it. The listing name is CSI's and refers to a well-known retail scent; CSI is not affiliated with that brand. Give your candle your own name and do not use third-party brand names on your label.
Which rose fragrance oil is cheapest for Valentine's candles in India?
At CSI, British Rose: ₹4.25/g at 50 g, ₹3.42/g at 100 g and ₹3.07/g at 1 kg, in stock at every size on 24 September 2026. That is ₹50.98 of oil in a 150 g candle at 8% on the 50 g price.

Wax ceilings as stated by the wax pages: CSI 464 up to 10%; CSI 468 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%; formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Valentine's Day (Sunday 14 February 2027), Diwali (8 November 2026) and the day counts are calendar facts; the "Valentine week" from 7 February is an informal custom.
