What should wedding and corporate candle manufacturers look for in a fragrance oil supplier?
Judge a supplier on what you can verify, then ask about the rest. Verify: range and stock (CSI lists 93 oils, 86 with stock on 24 September 2026), stock depth (47 in stock at every size from 15 g to 1 kg), tester sizes (51 oils with a 15 g), per-gram transparency (every pack priced on the store), documents (GST invoice, with MSDS and IFRA documentation on request) and one-stop materials (wax, wicks and jars). Ask: pricing beyond the largest pack (CSI quotes on WhatsApp and publishes no discount figure), delivery timing for your order, and single-batch supply for big orders. Know the gaps: CSI sells no fragrance sample set, and most oils cost the same per gram at 1 kg as at 100 g, with only 24 saving 5% or more. Compare any supplier by converting quotes to ₹ per gram and ₹ per candle, never by bottle price. The ten-point checklist

A wedding cannot move its date, and a corporate client does not accept excuses. Choose the supplier as carefully as the scent.

Wedding and corporate manufacturers need the same things from a fragrance supplier, weighted a little differently. Wedding work needs stock on a fixed date and consistency across hundreds of identical pieces. Corporate work needs repeatability every quarter and paperwork. The checklist covers both. The third column applies it to CSI using our own listings, including where we fall short.

Checks 1 to 4 and 7 to 8 are the ones you can verify without talking to anyone. They are also the ones that most often fail with suppliers who price on request only, or list oils they cannot ship. Check 5 is where suppliers most often oversell. "Bulk" is a word, and the per-gram price is the fact. Checks 6 and 10 need a conversation, so ask them in writing, on WhatsApp or email, and keep the reply. Check 9 is a plain no at CSI. Argued against our own interest, plainly. We could have written a checklist that only asks questions we score well on. Instead it includes three we cannot answer from the store (bulk pricing, delivery timing, single-batch supply) and one we fail outright (no sample sets). If another supplier answers those better for your order, that is a fair reason to use them. Just make them show you the per-gram price first.
Weight the checks for your work
For wedding manufacturing, weight checks 2 (stock depth), 10 (delivery and single-batch supply) and 3 (testers) most heavily, because dates are fixed and orders are large. For corporate manufacturing, weight 7 (documents), 2 (depth for repeats) and 5 (real breaks on your core oils). Comparing quotes fairly

Suppliers quote in different pack sizes, sometimes with and sometimes without GST, sometimes per litre. The only fair comparison is price per gram, converted into price per candle at your load. Here is British Rose at every CSI size, with the conversion laid out so you can drop another supplier's quote into the last row.

Three traps to avoid when you fill in that last row. Volume versus weight. If a quote is per litre or per millilitre, ask for the weight, because fragrance oils are not all the same density, and your load is by weight. Tax. Compare like with like, and make sure you know whether each figure includes GST and whether you can claim it back. The oil is not the same. Two suppliers' "rose" can be different formulas. A lower price per gram only counts if the candle passes the same burn test. Pour both side by side before switching.

The cheap quote that was not. A supplier quotes a kilo of rose at a round figure well below the listed price elsewhere. It turns out to be per litre, excluding GST, with a minimum of several kilos. Converted to a per-gram, GST-inclusive figure for the quantity actually needed, the gap shrinks to almost nothing, and the candle throws less at 8%. Always convert, always test, and always compare at the quantity you will really buy.

One supplier, both kinds of order

November is when wedding and corporate orders land in the same week. One supplier, one order, one invoice keeps it manageable.

Here is a combined month: 300 wedding return gifts at 50 g in British Rose and 150 corporate gift jars at 200 g in Lavender, all at 8% with a 5% allowance on oil and wax (a working assumption). Wax is CSI 464 for both, with one Eco Thin C1 wick each, and White Matte Glass Jars for the corporate line only. Return-gift containers vary too much to price.

One order covers both lines. The wedding line is small per piece and heavy on wax. The corporate line is dominated by oil and jars. Splitting this across two or three suppliers would mean more invoices, more deliveries to reconcile and more documents to collect, with no per-gram saving on either oil at these quantities. The rest of the order: wax

Checklist point 8 is easy to overlook. A supplier that sells oil but not wax sends you to a second supplier for the largest raw material by weight. In a 200 g candle at 8%, wax is 184 g, and in a 50 g return gift it is 92% of the candle. Running a trial order

Before you commit a wedding season or a corporate programme to any supplier, run a small order that tests the whole relationship, not just the oil.

Order two testers and one production-size packFor example, the two 15 g testers above (₹199.42) and a 100 g of the scent you are most likely to use. Judge the packing, the labelling and the exact product name on the bottle against the listing.

Check the invoiceIs it a proper GST invoice with the correct product names and quantities? You will need hundreds of these over a year.
