CSI Collection Buying · Relaxing Notes
Lavender, sandalwood and a soft floral are the backbone of many relaxing candle ranges. CSI lists each at several price tiers; here is what each tier costs per candle, which pages state a candle load, and how to pair them.
₹64.80
Lavender oil in one 150 g candle at 8%, from the 50 g size · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which lavender should I buy for relaxing candles? For most candle makers, CSI's plain Lavender Fragrance Oil: ₹270.00 for 50 g, a stated candle load of 6–10%, and ₹64.80 of oil in a 150 g candle at 8%. The perfume-grade lavender listings cost 1.6 to 2.2 times as much per candle and their pages state no candle load.

Which sandalwood? Plain Sandalwood Fragrance Oil for almost every relaxing candle: ₹271.40 for 50 g, "up to 10% for soy", ₹65.14 per 8% candle. The premium sandal listings are for a signature product, not a range.

Which florals? British Rose is the least expensive of the candle-grade soft florals here per candle (₹50.98); Gardenia is the creamy one; Raat Ki Rani is the night-jasmine one and the dearest of the three. All three state a 10% candle maximum.

Are these calming or relaxing oils? They are fragrance oils whose scents many people associate with calm evenings. They are not essential oils, and nothing on this page is a claim about sleep, stress or health.
The short answer
Lavender tier: Lavender (₹64.80 per 8% candle) → inspired lavender listing (₹104.40) → Lavender Oud (₹144.00). Only the first states a candle load.
Sandalwood tier: Sandalwood (₹65.14) → Sacred Sandal Ember, 500 g only (₹95.98) → inspired sandal listing (₹106.08). Only the first states a candle load.
Florals: British Rose (₹50.98), Gardenia (₹53.52), Raat Ki Rani (₹88.80); Mogra and Rajnigandha are out of stock on 24 September 2026.
Pairing: Lavender 8 g + Sandalwood 4 g in a 150 g candle costs ₹64.91 in oil and gives lavender a woody floor.

Fourteen lavender, sandalwood and floral oils placed by what their oil costs in one 150 g candle at 8%. The candle-grade Lavender and Sandalwood sit together at the left of their families; every perfume-grade listing and Sacred Sandal Ember sit to the right and state no candle load; Lavender Cranberry Coconut is the one speciality listing that does. Among the florals, every option states a load and the spread from British Rose to Raat Ki Rani is ₹37.82 a candle.
Straight answer
For relaxing candles, should I buy CSI's standard Lavender and Sandalwood, or the premium and inspired versions — and which florals go with them?
Buy the standard oils first. Lavender Fragrance Oil (₹270.00 for 50 g) and Sandalwood Fragrance Oil (₹271.40 for 50 g) both state a candle load, both are in stock at every size on 24 September 2026, and both put about ₹64.80 of oil into a 150 g candle at 8%. The premium lavender and sandalwood listings — Lavender Oud, Sacred Sandal Ember and the perfume-grade inspired listings — cost ₹95.98 to ₹144.00 per candle, and none of their pages states a candle load, so you would be testing blind inside the wax ceiling. Add one soft floral: British Rose if cost matters most (₹50.98 per candle), Gardenia for a creamy white floral, Raat Ki Rani for night-jasmine. Test each alone and in one pairing with Sandalwood. Reach for a premium tier only for a single signature candle, never for a whole range.
One line: standard lavender and sandalwood carry the range, a soft floral gives it a second voice, and the premium tiers are for one signature candle at most.
The two-oil start. Lavender 50 g (₹270.00) plus Sandalwood 50 g (₹271.40) is ₹541.40: enough to pour each alone at 6%, 8% and 10% and still make a pairing candle.

How to read the price tiers

The price of a relaxing candle's oil is set less by the note than by which shelf of our catalogue the oil sits on.

CSI lists lavender, sandalwood and floral oils in three kinds of listing, and they behave differently for a candle maker. It is worth knowing which kind you are looking at before you compare prices, because a rupee figure on its own will mislead you.

Three kinds of listing
What each tier gives you, and what it does not
Tier Examples here Candle load on page Pricing pattern Best use
Candle-grade Lavender, Sandalwood, British Rose, Gardenia, Raat Ki Rani, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang Flower, Neroli Yes — 6–10% or up to 10% in soy 15 g to 1 kg; cheaper per gram as you go up, some flat after 100 g The whole range
Perfume-grade and inspired Lavender Oud, the inspired lavender and inspired sandal listings, Santal Noir No Priced flat per gram; some start at 50 g or 100 g One signature candle, after testing
Speciality Sacred Sandal Ember, Lavender Cranberry Coconut Sacred Sandal Ember: no. Lavender Cranberry Coconut: "8-10% soy wax" Near-flat per gram at every size A named, differentiated product

Two rules follow. First, where a page states no candle load, the only limit you have is the wax's: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is stated up to 10%, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%. The lower of the wax ceiling and the oil page's stated maximum governs, and with no oil figure you work inside the wax ceiling and test from 6% upward. Second, perfume-grade pages quote high perfume usage rates for sprays and oils; those are not candle loads and should not be used as one.

Argued against our own interest: the premium listings earn us more per gram. For a relaxing candle range, the standard oils are the better-evidenced buy: they state a candle load, they come in 15 g to 1 kg, and on Lavender and Sandalwood the per-candle cost is roughly three-fifths that of the inspired listings. Start there and prove you need more.

Lavender three ways

Lavender is the note many buyers expect in a relaxing range. CSI lists it in three very different forms: a straight candle-grade lavender, a lavender-oud perfume-grade blend, and a perfume-grade lavender-floral listing built around a well-known perfume style. A fourth, Lavender Cranberry Coconut, is a fruity lavender that sits apart from the relaxing brief.

Lavender Fragrance Oil
The lavender to build on. The page states "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles" and describes "a strong, IFRA-certified lavender fragrance oil" (the page's wording — ask for documents on WhatsApp). The "soft musk base" gives it enough body to hold through a two-hour burn, and the "herbal green" middle keeps it from reading as soap. Of all CSI fragrance oils it has the most published customer reviews in the store's review data, including two four-star ones. Limitation: it is priced almost flat — the 1 kg saves only ₹2.15 per candle over the 50 g — so volume buys you little.

When Lavender Oud makes sense

Lavender Oud – Calm Meets Kingdom is a perfume-grade aromatic-woody blend in CSI's fine-perfume listings. Its per gram (₹12.00 at 100 g) is 2.2 times the plain lavender's 50 g price, and it starts at 100 g, so your first test costs ₹1,200.00. The page describes it as "IFRA compliant, phthalate-free" and does not state a candle load. The case for it is a single evening candle that has to feel expensive, where lavender sits over a dark wood. The case against is everything else: a 150 g candle's materials come to ₹314.32 against ₹235.12 with plain lavender (worked example with CSI 464, a clear 150 g jar and a C1 wick; excludes labour, freight, packaging and GST), a gap of ₹79.20 per candle in oil alone.

The inspired lavender listing

CSI's Yves Saint Laurent Libre inspired fragrance oil is CSI's product listing name; the oil is CSI's interpretation of a perfume style, CSI is not affiliated with the brand, and you should never put the brand name on your own label. It is a lavender-floral with orange blossom, jasmine and vanilla — sweeter and more perfume-like than a relaxing lavender. At ₹8.70 per gram it is 61% dearer than plain Lavender, and it states no candle load. In our judgement it suits a "night out" candle better than a relaxing one. Lavender Cranberry Coconut is the other lavender variant: its page states "Recommended load - candles: 8-10% soy wax", but cranberry, orange and coconut make it a fruity candle, not a quiet one.

Sandalwood three ways

Sandalwood does the quiet work in a relaxing candle. The cheapest version is also the one with the clearest instructions.

woody · the anchor
Sandalwood Fragrance Oil
The single most useful oil on this page. The page describes a "warm, creamy, luxurious single-note sandalwood fragrance oil with a smooth woody aroma and subtle earthy undertone" and states "Recommended load up to 10% for soy, up to 6% for paraffin". Because it is a single note with no bright top, it pairs with lavender or any floral without fighting it. On its own it is the "quiet wood" candle; in a blend it is the floor. Limitation: alone it can read flat to customers who want a story in the scent — which is why the pairings below exist.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹93.22 ₹6.21 1
50 gm ₹271.40 ₹5.43 4
100 gm ₹502.68 ₹5.03 8

Sacred Sandal Ember: the incense sandalwood, with a stock problem

Sacred Sandal Ember is the sandalwood with incense smoke and resin on top — in our judgement, the version closest to a temple or a meditation room. The page describes it as "IFRA Certified" and does not state a candle load. On 24 September 2026 only the 500 g (₹3,999.00) is in stock; the 100 g and 1 kg are out of stock. That makes it a ₹3,999.00 first test, which is too much for an oil you have not burned. Ask on WhatsApp when the 100 g returns. Where it belongs in a five-scent meditation line is covered in Best Fragrances for Building a Meditation Candle Collection.

The inspired sandal listing

CSI's Sandal ITC inspired fragrance oil is CSI's product listing name; the oil is CSI's interpretation of a sandal style, CSI is not affiliated with the brand, and the brand name stays off your label. It is a spiced, rose-and-vanilla sandal — richer and warmer than the single note. It is 63% dearer per gram than plain Sandalwood at 50 g, states no candle load, and is priced flat: the 1 kg (₹8.85/g) is fractionally dearer per gram than the 50 g (₹8.84/g). Santal Noir (₹9.98/g at 50 g, no candle load stated) is the drier, darker alternative for a woody-evening candle.

The soft florals, cheapest to dearest

Florals are the second voice of a relaxing range. The ones that suit it are soft, rounded and not too sweet; the ones that do not are sharp, fruity or loud. The candle-grade florals compared here all state a 10% maximum, so the choice here is about character and cost, not about which pages are complete.

Candle-grade florals · per 8% candle at 50 g
All state a candle load; sorted by oil cost per candle
Oil Stated notes Per g at 50 g Oil per 8% candle Character for a relaxing range

Gardenia "Rich, creamy, and velvety - a true-to-life gardenia bloom" ₹4.46 ₹53.52 Creamy white floral; generous
Jasmine "sweet, floral, and slightly musky" ₹4.60 ₹55.20 Sweeter; watch the 10% candle
Ylang Ylang Flower "Sweet, rich, and floral with creamy undertones" ₹6.61 ₹79.30 Heavy and creamy; small doses
Neroli "Bright neroli with hints of orange blossom, honey" ₹6.84 ₹82.13 Bright; a morning floral more than evening
Raat Ki Rani "Green Stems, Fresh Ozone … Night-Blooming Jasmine, White Florals … Soft Amber, Musk" ₹7.40 ₹88.80 Airy night jasmine with a soft base
3
rose · the value floral
British Rose Fragrance Oil
The least expensive of the six florals compared here per candle, and the one with the widest price drop by size. The page describes "fresh, dewy rose petals with subtle green undertones and a soft floral finish" and states candles "up to 10% soy, up to 6% paraffin". "Dewy" and "green" are the words that make it relaxing rather than romantic. One customer review describes strong cold and hot throw — an opinion, not a measurement. Limitation: rose is a strong idea; in a lavender-led range, use it as a pairing accent before you give it its own candle.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

4
white floral · the night jasmine
Raat Ki Rani (Night-Blooming Jasmine) Fragrance Oil
In our judgement, the most relaxing-reading jasmine CSI lists, because its stated pyramid is airy rather than sweet: "Top Notes: Green Stems, Fresh Ozone | Middle Notes: Night-Blooming Jasmine, White Florals | Base Notes: Soft Amber, Musk". The page states "Recommended fragrance load is 6-10% for candles". It is the Indian night-flower answer to lavender, and it suits evening names. Limitation: it is the dearest candle-grade floral here (₹88.80 per 8% candle at 50 g), and bulk barely helps — the 1 kg is only 8.5% cheaper per gram.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

white floral · the creamy one
Gardenia Fragrance Oil
For the customer who wants a soft floral with more body than rose. The page describes it as "Rich, creamy, and velvety - a true-to-life gardenia bloom", states "Up to 10% for soy wax candles … Up to 6% for paraffin wax candles" and calls it "a luxurious, IFRA-certified gardenia fragrance oil" (the page's wording). It is flat-priced from 100 g (₹4.33/g at 100 g, 500 g and 1000 g). Limitation: creamy white florals can turn heady in a small room at 10%; compare your 6% and 8% candles carefully before you choose.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%
15 gm ₹105.02 ₹7.00 1
50 gm ₹223.02 ₹4.46 4
100 gm ₹433.00 ₹4.33 8
500 gm ₹2,166.00 ₹4.33 41
1000 gm ₹4,332.00 ₹4.33 83
Oil per 8% candle: ₹53.52 at 50 g, ₹51.98 at 1000 g. Buy Gardenia
Honest gap: Mogra and Rajnigandha (tuberose) are out of stock at every size on 24 September 2026. Both are natural fits for an Indian relaxing-floral range; do not plan a launch around them until they are back. Raat Ki Rani and Gardenia are the nearest in-stock white florals. The wider Indian-floral picture is covered in the Indian collection cluster; for a relaxing range, the three above are enough.

Pairings: lavender, sandalwood and a floral in one candle

A pairing is not a recipe. It is a hypothesis you test in three candles.

Blending two oils in one candle is how many small brands turn two stock oils into a third product without buying a third oil. The rule is simple: the combined load is what counts against the ceiling. If Lavender and Sandalwood both state 10% as a maximum and you pour in CSI 464 (stated up to 10%), your combined total stays at or below 10% — 8 g of one plus 4 g of the other is 12 g, i.e. 8% of a 150 g candle.

Five pairings to test · 12 g of oil in a 150 g candle (8%)
Oil cost per candle at 50 g prices, worked example
Pairing Split Oil per candle What you are testing for
Lavender + Sandalwood 8 g + 4 g ₹64.91 Lavender on a woody floor; the classic relaxing blend
Lavender + British Rose 9 g + 3 g ₹61.34 A softer, rounder lavender; rose as an accent only
British Rose + Sandalwood 6 g + 6 g ₹58.06 Rose-wood; warmer and more "evening" than rose alone
Raat Ki Rani + Sandalwood 5 g + 7 g ₹75.00 Night jasmine grounded; the Indian evening candle
Gardenia + Sandalwood 4 g + 8 g ₹61.27 A creamy wood with a floral lift; keep the gardenia low

If you have Sacred Sandal Ember in stock, Lavender 8 g plus Sacred Sandal Ember 4 g puts incense under lavender for ₹75.19 per candle — but because the Ember page states no candle load, test that pairing at 6% total first. The sandalwood pairings with woods and resins beyond this trio belong to the meditation line in Best Fragrances for Building a Meditation Candle Collection.

How to test a pairing

1
Pour the two single oils firstYou cannot judge a blend without knowing each part. Pour Lavender and Sandalwood alone at 8% in 150 g jars (12 g oil + 138 g wax) as your controls.
2
Weigh the blend into the jug, not the jarOn a scale reading to 1 g: 8 g of Lavender, then 4 g of Sandalwood, stir, then add to 138 g of melted wax at the wax page's pour temperature. Mix the oils together before they meet the wax so the split is exact.
3
Pour three splits, not oneFor Lavender + Sandalwood, pour 9:3, 8:4 and 6:6. The best split is rarely the one you guessed.
4
Cure all five candles togetherNone of these pages states a cure. At least 48–72 hours, longer for soy, is common practice; compare at day 3 and day 7, same age against same age.
5
Burn blind, one per eveningHave someone else light them. From the doorway at 30 minutes and 2 hours, note which you can name and which you would want again tomorrow. A blend that nobody can distinguish from the lavender control is wasting the sandalwood.
6
Write the winning split on the label specOil A grams, oil B grams, wax grams, wick. That line is your product.
Wick check for blends
Blends with a heavy wood or creamy floral can burn differently from the single oils. Start with Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) (₹5.90 each from the pack of 10) and move to Thick (C2) only if the melt pool does not reach the jar edge after two to three hours. Wick depends on jar diameter; run a melt-pool test rather than trusting a chart. Soy-specific wick and load detail for soft scents is in Relaxing Fragrance Oils for Soy Candles.

Three baskets to buy, with totals

Three ways to buy this trio, depending on what you are trying to learn. The full meditation buying basket, with wax and jars, is in Buy Meditation Candle Fragrance Oils in India; the per-gram ladder for reorders is in Wholesale Fragrance Oils for Meditation Candle Brands. These baskets are oils only.

Oil baskets · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
Pick the basket that matches your question
Basket What is in it Total What it answers
A · Core trio (our pick) Lavender, Sandalwood, British Rose, Raat Ki Rani, Gardenia — 50 g each ₹1,346.82 Which lavender-wood-floral combination your range should be built on
B · Tier test Lavender and the inspired lavender; Sandalwood and the inspired sandal — 50 g each ₹1,418.40 Whether a premium tier is worth its price to you
C · Premium edge Lavender 50 g, Lavender Oud 100 g, Sandalwood 50 g, inspired sandal 50 g ₹2,183.40 Whether one signature candle can carry a higher price

Basket A gives each oil its three load candles (6%, 8%, 10%: 36 g), leaving 14 g for pairings. That covers one or two single-split pairings; all four Sandalwood pairings in the table need 25 g of Sandalwood, and the three-split Lavender + Sandalwood test needs 23 g of Lavender, so add a second 50 g of that oil (Sandalwood ₹271.40, Lavender ₹270.00) if you run them in full. Basket B is the honest way to decide about the premium tier — burn the standard and the premium side by side, blind, and see whether you can tell them apart from the doorway. If you cannot, the premium oil is costing you money for nothing your customer will notice.

Only buying one of each note? Lavender, Sandalwood and British Rose at 50 g: ₹753.80. Planning to reorder? Sandalwood is flat from 100 g, so the 100 g (₹502.68) already gives you the bulk per-gram price.
Mistake: buying Lavender and Sandalwood at 1 kg "because they are the staples". Fix: they are staples, and bulk saves them little: ₹2.15 per candle on Lavender and ₹4.81 on Sandalwood, 1 kg against 50 g. We sell the 1 kg. Buy it after your first twenty candles have sold, not before.

The CSI principle
Pay for the tier your customer can smell, not the one on the label.
A premium lavender or sandalwood earns its price only if a blind burn tells it apart. Test the standard and the premium side by side before you let price decide.
"Lavender and sandalwood are the backbone of a relaxing range, and the two where paying more changes least. Spend the difference on the floral."

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every oil on this page, including the premium listings we advise most buyers to skip. We have written it to steer you to the standard oils first, to flag where bulk saves little, and to tell you which pages give you no candle load to work with.

Every price, pack size and per-gram figure was taken from CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. Out-of-stock sizes — Sacred Sandal Ember 100 g and 1 kg, and every size of Mogra and Rajnigandha — are flagged and never presented as buyable. Notes, candle loads and IFRA wording are quoted from each product page.

Tiers, pairings, splits and the "relaxing" character of each oil are our editorial judgement about scent, not claims about any effect on the body; CSI has no throw measurements for these oils. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better for candles, lavender or sandalwood fragrance oil?
They do different jobs. Lavender is the herbal-floral top of a relaxing range; Sandalwood is the creamy wood underneath it. At CSI they cost almost the same — ₹64.80 and ₹65.14 of oil per 150 g candle at 8% from the 50 g size — so it makes sense to buy both and pair them.
Is lavender fragrance oil the same as lavender essential oil?
No. CSI’s Lavender Fragrance Oil is a fragrance oil made for candles, not an essential oil. Describe it as a lavender scent and do not make aromatherapy or health claims for it.
What is the best lavender and sandalwood ratio for a candle?
There is no single best ratio; test 9:3, 8:4 and 6:6 grams in a 150 g candle at 8% total. Lavender 8 g + Sandalwood 4 g is our suggested starting point and costs ₹64.91 in oil at 50 g prices.
Are inspired perfume fragrance oils good for candles?
They can be, but their pages state perfume usage rates, not candle loads, and they cost more per gram. Test them inside your wax’s ceiling from 6% upward, and never put the original brand’s name on your label.
Which floral fragrance oil is best for a relaxing candle in India?
From CSI, British Rose for value (₹50.98 per 8% candle), Gardenia for a creamy white floral, and Raat Ki Rani for a night-jasmine. Mogra and Rajnigandha are out of stock on 24 September 2026.
How much lavender fragrance oil do I need for a 150 g soy candle?
At 8% of total weight, 12 g of oil and 138 g of wax. The Lavender page states 6–10% for candles and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is stated up to 10%, so 9 g to 15 g is the range to test.

Non-price figures: candle maths assume a 150 g candle with load as a percentage of total weight (8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax); pairings split the same 12 g. Wax ceilings: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, as stated by the wax pages; formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Candle loads, notes and IFRA wording are quoted from each product page; where a page states no candle load we say so. Per-candle costs are worked examples and exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST (materials examples add wax, jar and wick). Diwali (8 November 2026) is a calendar date. Tiers, pairing splits and scent character are editorial judgement.
