Commercial Fragrance · Wholesale for Jar Candle Businesses
Wholesale sounds like a lower price. On CSI's listed catalogue it mostly means a bigger pack at the same price per gram, with a real saving on a minority of oils and a quote for anything beyond 1 kg. This page shows which is which, and prices a 300-jar month end to end.
₹260.81
material cost per 200 g jar in a 300-jar month: oil, wax, jar and wick · five scents at 1 kg · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell fragrance oils wholesale? CSI lists oils up to 1 kg per pack (73 oils in stock at 1 kg on 24 September 2026). Larger quantities and mixed production orders are quoted on WhatsApp. No discount percentage is published, so ask with your oils and quantities.

Is the 1 kg pack cheaper than buying 100 g bottles? For most oils, only slightly or not at all: 52 of 91 oils are within 1% per gram. Twenty-four show a saving of 5% or more, such as Mango Coconut (20.7%) and Honeydew Melon (22.0%).

How much oil does a 300-jar month need? At 200 g and 8%: 4800 g in total, or 960 g per scent across five scents. One 1 kg of each covers it, with a 4% working allowance fitting just inside.

What does a jar cost to make at wholesale volume? In our 300-jar example, ₹260.81 per jar in materials. Wax is the largest line at 45.9% of spend, then jars at 27.1%, then oil at 24.7%. Labour, packaging, freight and GST are extra.
The short answer
Listed packs: Up to 1 kg per oil; 500 g for 64 oils. Wax to 10 kg (and 50 kg for Natural Soy Pearl). Salsa jars to 100, Eco wicks to 1,000. Beyond that: WhatsApp quote.
Real breaks: 1 kg vs 100 g saving ≥5% for 24 oils — e.g. Honeydew Melon 22.0%, Mango Coconut 20.7%, British Rose 10.3%, Jasmine 8.8%. Flat for Woody Oud and Gardenia.
300-jar month: Oil ₹19,293.60 · wax ₹35,940.00 · jars ₹21,240.00 · wicks ₹1,770.00 · total ₹78,243.60.
Shop: Fragrance Oils · Luxury Soy Wax Chunks · Containers · wholesale quote on WhatsApp.
A 300-jar month for a jar candle business — where the money goes Oil 24.7% Wax 45.9% Jars 27.1% Wicks 2.3% Monthly material bill ₹78,243.60 · ₹260.81 per 200 g jar Oil you could save by buying 1 kg instead of 10 × 100 g, all five scents: ₹2,343.80 …and almost all of it comes from two oils with real kilo breaks (Mango Coconut, Honeydew Melon). 200 g jars (illustrative fill) at 8% · 5 scents × 60 jars · wax includes a 4% working allowance Share of the month's material spend
For a 200 g jar business in soy wax, wax is the biggest material cost, then the jar, then the oil. That shapes where wholesale effort pays: re-choosing the wax or the jar moves the bill more than chasing a few paise per gram of oil — except on the handful of oils with a real kilo break, where the saving is large and free.
Straight answer
How does wholesale fragrance oil buying work for a jar candle business, and is it cheaper?
At CSI, wholesale starts with the listed packs: up to 1 kg per oil (73 oils in stock at 1 kg), up to 10 kg of container wax, jars to 100 and wicks to 1,000. Anything beyond that — several kilos of one oil, or a mixed monthly order — is quoted on WhatsApp, and no discount figure is published. The honest part is price. For 52 of 91 oils, the 1 kg costs within 1% per gram of the 100 g, so the kilo buys stock security and fewer reorders, not a lower rate. Twenty-four oils do show a saving of 5% or more, and some are large: Honeydew Melon is 22.0% cheaper per gram at 1 kg and Mango Coconut 20.7%. A 300-jar month in five scents needs 4.8 kg of oil, and in our example the whole material bill is ₹78,243.60, or ₹260.81 a jar. Wax and jars are the biggest lines, not the oil. So build your range with the real-break oils where they fit, buy the flat-priced ones in whichever size you will finish, and ask for a quote on the whole order.
One line: wholesale on a flat price list is a supply decision; only on the break oils is it also a price decision.
Two oils on CSI's list where the kilo genuinely costs less per gram: Honeydew Melon at ₹3,398.40 a kilo (₹4.35/g at 100 g → ₹3.40/g) and Mango Coconut at ₹3,964.00 (₹5.00/g → ₹3.96/g). If either fits your range, the kilo saves money as well as reorders.

From monthly jars to monthly oil

A wholesale order starts with a jar count, not a bottle size.

The first number a jar candle business needs is how many jars it pours in a month, and in how many scents. From that, the oil follows directly: jars × fill × load. The table uses a 200 g fill at 8% (16 g of oil per jar) and five scents with equal sales. The 200 g fill is illustrative; weigh your own jar. The allowance column adds 4%, inside the working assumption of 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns.

200 g jars (illustrative) · 8% load · 5 scents, equal split · allowance 4% (working assumption)
Monthly volume, oil per scent and the pack that covers it
Month Jars per scent Oil per scent With allowance Pack per scent Wax for the month
100 jars 20 320 g 332.8 g 4 × 100 g, or one 500 g 18.4 kg
300 jars 60 960 g 998.4 g 1 kg 55.2 kg
600 jars 120 1920 g 1996.8 g 2 × 1 kg, or ask for a quote 110.4 kg

At 100 jars a month, four 100 g bottles or one 500 g per scent covers the month, and there is no reason to hold a kilo of anything. At 300 jars, the kilo is the natural pack: 960 g per scent, 998.4 g with the allowance, which only just fits. At 600 jars you are buying two kilos per scent every month, and that is the point at which a WhatsApp quote for the whole order is worth asking for. Real sales are never an equal split, so run the table per scent using your own sales.

Plan the month by scent, not by total
A range with one runaway best-seller and four slower scents does not need five kilos. It may need two kilos of the best-seller and 500 g of each of the others. Size each scent to its own sales, and keep the slow ones in the smallest pack that covers a month.

Which oils are cheaper by the kilo

Here are five oils a jar business might carry, compared as ten 100 g bottles against one 1 kg. Two have large breaks, one a moderate break, and two are flat. That mix is typical of the catalogue.

CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026 · oil per jar = 16 g at the 1 kg rate
Ten 100 g bottles or one kilo — the real difference
Oil 10 × 100 g 1 kg Saving Saving % Oil per 200 g jar at 1 kg
Mango Coconut ₹5,000.00 ₹3,964.00 ₹1,036.00 20.7% ₹63.42
Honeydew Melon ₹4,354.20 ₹3,398.40 ₹955.80 22.0% ₹54.37
British Rose ₹3,422.00 ₹3,068.00 ₹354.00 10.3% ₹49.09
Woody Oud ₹4,531.20 ₹4,531.20 ₹0.00 0.00% ₹72.50
Gardenia ₹4,330.00 ₹4,332.00 -₹2.00 -0.05% ₹69.31

Across all five, buying kilos instead of 100 g bottles saves ₹2,343.80 a month, and ₹1,991.80 of that comes from Mango Coconut and Honeydew Melon alone. Woody Oud is exactly flat. Gardenia's kilo costs ₹2.00 more than ten 100 g bottles. For those two, the kilo is purely about reorders. Across the catalogue, 24 oils show a saving of 5% or more; the largest is Citronella at 62.3%, then Honeydew Melon, Mango Coconut, Verbena (20.0%) and Roasted Coconut (19.2%). A few run the other way, such as Dahlia (BBW Inspired), Love Spell and Pomegranate Splash, which cost fractionally more per gram at 1 kg.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A wholesale page from a supplier would normally say "buy bigger, save more". On our listed prices that is true for a minority of oils and false for most. If your best-seller is a flat-priced oil like Woody Oud, ten 100 g bottles cost exactly the same as the kilo, and the smaller bottles keep oil fresher on your shelf if you use it slowly. Buy the kilo because your volume needs it, and choose break oils where your range allows.

Oil price differences between scents also matter at wholesale volume. At the kilo rate, the oil in one 200 g jar ranges from ₹49.09 for British Rose to ₹72.50 for Woody Oud in this group. Over 60 jars a month, that is a ₹1,404.67 difference between two scents sold at the same price. If your range is priced uniformly, the cheaper oils carry more margin, and that is worth knowing when you decide which scents to promote. The container candle hub compares oil cost by family.

A 300-jar month, priced

The oil is the part of the bill you think about most. It is not the biggest.

Here is a full month of materials for 300 White Matte jars at 200 g and 8%, five scents, 60 jars each. Wax is Luxury Soy Wax Chunks: 55.2 kg needed, 57.4 kg with the 4% allowance, so 60 kg bought. Wicks are Eco Thin C1. The fill and wick are working assumptions; your burn test sets the wick.

Oils and wax CSI live pricing 24 September 2026 · White Matte jar and wicks verified 10 September 2026
Monthly material bill, 300 jars
Line What Cost Share
Fragrance oil 5 scents × 1 kg (Mango Coconut, Honeydew Melon, British Rose, Woody Oud, Gardenia) ₹19,293.60 24.7%
Wax Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, 12 × 5 kg (60 kg) ₹35,940.00 45.9%
Jars White Matte Glass Jar, 60 × 5 ₹21,240.00 27.1%
Wicks Eco Thin C1, 3 × 100 ₹1,770.00 2.3%
Total 300 jars, before labour, packaging, freight and GST ₹78,243.60 100%

Wax is 45.9% of the month's spend and the jar 27.1%. The White Matte jar is listed in packs of 5 at ₹354.00, so 300 jars means 60 packs. For volume, it is worth comparing the 200 ml Salsa jar, which drops to ₹29.50 each in the 100-pack (₹2,950.00): three 100-packs cost ₹8,850.00, ₹12,390.00 less than 60 White Matte packs. It is a different jar with a lug cap, and its fill weight is not published, so re-weigh and re-cost before switching. For quantities beyond the listed packs, ask for a quote on the White Matte jar too.

60 kg of container wax · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026
The same 60 kg of wax, bought four ways
Option Packs Cost Per kg Load ceiling quoted
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 12 × 5 kg ₹35,940.00 ₹599.00 Up to 13%
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 6 × 10 kg ₹35,994.00 ₹599.90 Up to 13%
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 6 × 10 kg ₹30,444.00 ₹507.40 Up to 10%
Natural Soy Pearl Wax 50 kg + 10 kg ₹25,488.00 ₹424.80 Not quoted — ask

Two details stand out. The 10 kg bag of Chunks costs ₹5,999.00, which is ₹599.90 a kilo — ten paise more than the 1 kg and 5 kg rate — so twelve 5 kg bags are ₹54.00 cheaper than six 10 kg bags. And switching to CSI 464 saves ₹5,496.00 a month at an 8% load, which is inside its 10% ceiling. Natural Soy Pearl Wax is the cheapest per kilo at volume, but no fragrance ceiling is quoted for it in this data; ask for the wax maker's stated maximum before building a recipe on it. Any wax change needs a new burn test.

The CSI principle
Negotiate the biggest line first.
In this example the wax, then the jar, then the oil is the order of spend. A few paise per gram on a flat-priced oil moves the bill very little; a jar choice or a wax choice can move it by thousands. Put your wholesale effort where the rupees are.

Getting a wholesale quote

When the listed packs no longer fit, message CSI on WhatsApp. A good request gets a useful answer faster. This is what to send.

1
List each oil by its store nameUse the exact product titles from the store, so there is no confusion between, for example, the two Pomegranate Splash listings.
2
Give quantities per oil, per month"Mango Coconut 1 kg a month, Woody Oud 2 kg" is quotable; "about 5 kg of oils" is not. Use the volume table above to work them out.
3
Add wax, jars and wicks to the same messageOne quote for the whole order is simpler to compare and to invoice. Name the wax (Chunks, CSI 464, CSI 468 or Pearl), the jar and the wick pack.
4
Ask for the paperwork you will needGST invoice, MSDS and IFRA documentation are available on request. Ask at the time of ordering, especially if you supply retailers or corporate clients.
5
Ask about stock on your key scentsSeveral oils have a size out of stock on any given day. If a scent is your best-seller, ask whether it can be held or reserved for your monthly order.
6
Compare the quote per gram and per jarConvert every line to ₹ per gram and then to ₹ per jar before deciding. Do not assume a discount; no figure is published, so the quote is the only number that counts.

Wholesale risks for a jar business

Buying bigger has costs that do not appear on the invoice. A kilo of a scent that stops selling is, at the median 1 kg price, ₹5,999.00 sitting on a shelf. Oil stored for a long time in a warm room is not the oil you tested. And a big order of one jar style locks you into it for months. None of those is a reason not to buy wholesale; they are reasons to buy it scent by scent, sized to real sales.

The kilo that never gets used. A business buys five kilos to "get wholesale prices" before its range has settled. Two scents sell; three do not. On flat-priced oils there was no discount to capture, and the business now holds three kilos of slow stock. Buy kilos of proven sellers, 100 g or 500 g of the rest, and let sales promote a scent to the kilo.

Stock is the other risk. On the pull date, several oils had a size out of stock, including the 1 kg of Vetiver and the 100 g of Chocolate Fudge. If your best-seller goes out of stock mid-season, a kilo on the shelf protects you. That, more than price, is the strongest case for wholesale on a flat-priced oil. For the manufacturing scale above a few hundred jars, see bulk fragrance oils for container manufacturers; for the kilo decision oil by oil, buying 1 kg for container production; and for the supplier checks that matter at volume, where to buy professional oils for jar candles. Soy-specific wholesale is covered in wholesale oils for soy candle businesses.

If you are earlier than wholesale, buying oils for jar candle making prices the test and pilot orders that come first. If your range is moving up-market, premium oils for luxury jar candles and a luxury container collection show how the oil layer changes. For bulk gifting orders at wholesale volume, see wholesale oils for bulk gifting candle orders.

Wholesale is not a price. It is a promise you make to your best-selling scent that it will not run out.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A wholesale page is where suppliers usually promise discounts. We do not publish a discount figure, most of our oils are priced flat per gram above 100 g, and this page says so and names the oils where the kilo does save money and the few where it costs fractionally more.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled on 24 September 2026. White Matte jar and Eco Candle Wick prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026; the Salsa jar was pulled on 24–25 September 2026. Every monthly figure, share and saving is arithmetic on those prices, shown to two decimals so you can check it.

The 200 g fill, 8% load, five-way equal sales split and 4% allowance are working assumptions for illustration. Load ceilings of up to 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and up to 10% (CSI 464) are the wax maker's stated maximums; none is quoted here for Natural Soy Pearl Wax.
