Indian Floral Fragrance Oils for Candle Making
शेयर करना
Which Indian florals are in stock? Raat Ki Rani (night-blooming jasmine), Jasmine, Gardenia, Ylang Ylang, British Rose and Smoked Rose Royale. The first five state a candle load of up to 10%; Smoked Rose Royale states none.
Can I rebuild mogra or rajnigandha from them? Approximately, as a named blend, never as the flower. A worked-example "mogra-style" blend of Jasmine and Raat Ki Rani costs ₹66.40 of oil per 8% candle; a "rajnigandha-style" blend of Gardenia, Ylang Ylang and Jasmine costs ₹60.39. No in-stock oil lists tuberose.
How do white florals behave in wax? They tend to get heady before they get weak, so the right load is often lower than the maximum. Test 6%, 8% and 10%, judge in a small room, and watch colour and top notes after a week's cure.

Mogra and Rajnigandha: the stock position
Both oils are real CSI listings with full note descriptions. Neither can be bought on 24 September 2026.
| Listing | Stated notes | Candle load on page | Sizes and status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mogra Fragrance Oil | Fresh green, soft citrus, airy floral · rich jasmine, creamy white florals, slightly powdery · soft musk, warm woody undertones | Not stated | Single 100 g listing, ₹642.00 (₹6.42/g): out of stock |
| Rajnigandha (Tuberose) | Dewy greens, crisp apple · creamy tuberose, jasmine, ylang ylang · soft musk, sandalwood | 6–10% for candles | 15 g to 1 kg, ₹6.00 down to ₹4.46/g: every size out of stock; listing title still shows "Ships 12th July 2025" |
Two details are worth noting for when they return. Mogra was listed as a single 100 g size, so there was no cheap sample and no bulk price; if it comes back in the same form, a test at three loads uses 36 g of the 100 g. Rajnigandha was listed across five sizes with a stated candle load and fell from ₹6.00 a gram at 15 g to ₹4.46 at 1 kg, which made it one of the better-value Indian florals. Neither fact helps you this week. Ask us on WhatsApp for an expected date and plan around what is in stock until you have one.
How white florals behave in soy wax
White florals (jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, ylang ylang, night-blooming jessamine) are the most rewarding and the most unforgiving family in candles. What follows is our judgement from how this family is generally understood to work, not measured data for these specific oils; use it to decide what to watch for in your own test.
They get heady before they get weak
Real white flowers contain facets that are lovely at a distance and overwhelming close up; raat ki rani in a closed room is a famous example. Fragrance oils that recreate them tend to behave the same way. A white-floral candle usually fails by becoming sharp, sweet-sickly or headache-inducing in a small room long before it fails by being too faint. So the question for this family is rarely "is 10% strong enough?" and usually "is 8% already too much in a bedroom?". The stated maximum on every page here is 10%; that is a ceiling, not advice.
The green top goes first
What makes an Indian floral read as a living flower rather than a perfume is often its green edge: Raat Ki Rani's "Green Stems, Fresh Ozone", Mogra's "Fresh green", Rajnigandha's "Dewy Greens", British Rose's "subtle green undertones". Top notes like these are the first thing a burning candle spends. Cold-sniff at day 3 and day 7, and burn-test at 30 minutes and at 2 hours, so that you know how much of the green survives.
Wax, temperature and colour
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464's page states a melt and pour of 80–90°C and a maximum of 10%; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468's states a pour of 58–60°C and up to 13%. Some makers prefer the lower-temperature wax for delicate floral tops. We cannot show you that it performs better with these oils; if your floral range is the core of your business, pour one oil in both and compare. CSI 468 costs ₹0.64 a gram at 10 kg, so the same 138 g of wax is ₹87.91 against ₹70.02 in CSI 464, ₹17.88 more per candle. Finally, some florals can shift the colour of white soy over the first weeks. Photograph each candle at day 1 and day 14; that is something to check, not a prediction.
Six florals to buy, and what each is for

Mogra-style and rajnigandha-style blends
Blending two or three in-stock oils is how many small brands work around a gap. The ratios below are worked examples to start a test from, not formulas we have measured; adjust by nose. Keep the total at your chosen load (these use 12 g, which is 8% of a 150 g candle) and remember that the combined oil must stay within the lowest stated ceiling of any oil in the blend and of the wax: 10% here.
| Blend | Grams per candle | Oil cost at 50 g prices | At 1 kg prices | Why these oils | What it cannot do |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mogra-style | 8 g Jasmine + 4 g Raat Ki Rani | ₹66.40 | ₹58.48 | Jasmine's sweetness plus Raat Ki Rani's green stems and musk base, the facets the Mogra page lists | Recreate sambac's tea-like note; neither page names sambac |
| Rajnigandha-style | 6 g Gardenia + 3 g Ylang Ylang + 3 g Jasmine | ₹60.39 | ₹53.69 | The Rajnigandha page lists tuberose, jasmine and ylang ylang; gardenia stands in for the creamy body | Supply tuberose itself; no in-stock oil lists it |
A third route is Jasmine Coconut Spa Ceylon, which lists "Jasmine Sambac, Tiare Flower" in its heart: sambac is the mogra flower. It wraps it in "Coconut Milk, Bergamot" and "Vanilla Cream, Sandalwood, Soft Musk", which makes it a southern bridal jasmine rather than a plain mogra, and its page states no candle load. That full name is CSI's listing name; CSI is not affiliated with any brand it resembles, and it is not a name to put on your candle labels, so below we call it Jasmine Coconut. At ₹95.76 of oil per 8% candle at 50 g it is dearer than either blend. The cultural story of the wedding flowers, and when these candles sell, is in Traditional Indian Fragrances for Luxury Candles.
The blend candle costs ₹230.71 in materials as a worked example (rajnigandha-style oils at 50 g prices, 138 g CSI 464, clear 150 g jar, C1 wick), excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST. How to price florals against the rest of an Indian luxury range is in Indian Luxury Fragrance Oils for Candle Brands; ready-made collection kits are in Premium Indian Fragrance Oil Collection for Candle Businesses.
Day rose and night rose
Rose in India is not one scent. There is the morning rose of a garden or a temple offering, fresh and a little green; and there is the evening rose of the attar-seller, gulab jal at a wedding, and gulkand: dense, honeyed, sometimes smoky. A good Indian floral range can use both. CSI's two roses happen to split along exactly that line.
| British Rose | Smoked Rose Royale | |
|---|---|---|
| Stated notes | Fresh, dewy rose petals, subtle green undertones, soft floral finish | Dark rose petals; smoky bakhoor accord, soft spice; amber, musk, warm woods |
| Candle load on page | Up to 10% soy, up to 6% paraffin | Not stated; wax ceiling governs |
| Smallest size | 15 g, ₹94.40 | 100 g, ₹799.00 |
| Oil per 8% candle at 100 g | ₹41.06 | ₹95.88 |
| Bulk | 1 kg ₹3.07/g, 27.8% below 50 g | 500 g and 1 kg ₹8.00/g, fractionally above 100 g |
| Best moment | Daytime, spring, Valentine's gifting | Evening, winter, the wedding reception |
The night rose costs ₹54.82 more in oil per candle than the day rose at the 100 g price. That is a big gap for the same flower name, and it only makes sense if the smoky rose sits higher in your price architecture. Rose as part of the oud-rose-sandalwood core is covered in Oud, Rose and Sandalwood Fragrance Oils for Indian Luxury Candles; there is no deep, honeyed attar-style rose in the catalogue on 24 September 2026, and the perfume-grade rose interpretation that carries a perfume brand's name quotes perfume usage rates rather than a candle load, so we have left it out.
Per gram and per candle across the floral shelf
Every floral in this guide, priced per gram and per 8% candle at three sizes on 24 September 2026. The complete size-by-size ladder for every Indian oil is in Wholesale Indian-Inspired Candle Fragrance Oils.
| Oil | 50 g per gram | 1 kg per gram | Oil per 8% candle, 50 g | Oil per 8% candle, 1 kg | 1 kg vs 50 g |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raat Ki Rani | ₹7.40 | ₹6.77 | ₹88.80 | ₹81.29 | 8.5% cheaper |
| Jasmine | ₹4.60 | ₹3.92 | ₹55.20 | ₹47.08 | 14.7% cheaper |
| Gardenia | ₹4.46 | ₹4.33 | ₹53.52 | ₹51.98 | 2.9% cheaper; flat from 100 g |
| Ylang Ylang | ₹6.61 | ₹5.31 | ₹79.30 | ₹63.72 | 19.6% cheaper |
| British Rose | ₹4.25 | ₹3.07 | ₹50.98 | ₹36.82 | 27.8% cheaper |
| Smoked Rose Royale | no 50 g (₹7.99 at 100 g) | ₹8.00 | ₹95.88 at 100 g | ₹95.99 | Fractionally dearer |
| Jasmine Coconut | ₹7.98 | ₹8.00 | ₹95.76 | ₹95.99 | Fractionally dearer |
Two lessons. First, the candle-grade florals (the first five rows) all get cheaper in bulk, British Rose and Ylang Ylang by the most; that is where a 1 kg order genuinely lowers your cost once an oil has passed its test. Second, the Royale and perfume-grade florals do not: their bigger sizes cost the same or fractionally more per gram. We sell those kilograms too. Buy them only because you need the quantity, never because you expect a saving. Worked-example material costs for a finished 150 g candle: Jasmine at the 1 kg price ₹217.40; Raat Ki Rani at the 50 g price ₹259.12; both exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Testing Indian florals, step by step
Same discipline as any fragrance test (equal wax, jar and wick; weigh by total weight; three loads), with the checks that matter most for white florals. For six oils at three loads plus a retest each, that is 24 candles; add two for the blends at 8% if you are trying them, using the oil you would have spent on retests or a larger bottle.
CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every floral oil, wax, jar and wick named here and does not sell finished candles. This guide leads with the two Indian florals we cannot ship today, tells you not to label our Jasmine as mogra, and states that our Royale and perfume-grade florals are not cheaper per gram in bulk.
Every price, pack size and per-gram figure was taken from CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. Mogra and every size of Rajnigandha are flagged as out of stock on that date and never presented as buyable. Notes, candle loads and IFRA wording are quoted from each product page; where a page does not state a candle load, we say so.
How white florals behave in wax, the note-facet matrix and the blend ratios are our judgement and worked examples, not measurements; CSI has no throw data for these oils. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Non-price figures: candle maths assume a 150 g candle with load as a percentage of total weight (8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax); candle counts are floor(grams ÷ 12). Wax figures (CSI 464: 80–90°C, up to 10%; CSI 468: pour 58–60°C, up to 13%) are the wax pages' wording; ceilings are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Blend ratios and per-candle costs are worked examples and exclude labour, freight, packaging and GST. The note-facet matrix simplifies each page's wording. Valentine's Day (14 February 2027) is a calendar date; the wedding season is approximate.
