Coffee, Vanilla and Chocolate Fragrance Oils for Candles

Why the three notes travel together

Buyers ask for "coffee candles" and then buy the one that smells like a latte. That is not fickleness: real roasted coffee is sharp and slightly burnt, and in a candle most people read that edge as smoky rather than pleasant. Perfumers soften it with vanilla (which rounds the bitterness) and cocoa (which fills the middle), and the result reads as "coffee" to the customer. The CSI range shows this clearly. Look at the stated notes of the five coffee oils and every one names cocoa, chocolate or vanilla as well as coffee. Roasted Coffee's page lists "fresh coffee bean top notes, dark chocolate and espresso heart, and a warm vanilla and caramel base". That is a trio in one bottle.

For a buyer, this has two consequences. First, you do not need three oils to make a coffee candle that has vanilla and chocolate in it; the coffee oil already carries them. Second, you do need the separate vanilla and chocolate oils if you want three distinct candles on a shelf, or if you want to shift the balance of a coffee candle towards one of the other notes. Coffee: five options, one value leader

This is the short version, enough to choose the coffee corner of a trio. The detailed comparison of these five for café buyers belongs to Coffee Shop Fragrance Oils for Candles, and the full per-gram ladder by size to Café Fragrance Oils Wholesale in India.

For the trio, Roasted Coffee is the obvious coffee anchor: it has the lowest price per gram, a stated candle load, every size in stock and a note list that already bridges to vanilla and chocolate. Coffee Vanilla Tobacco is the one to add when you want a darker, evening coffee; its page states "7-9% soy wax (strong throw at lower loads)", so test it at 7%, 8% and 9% rather than 10%. Khamrah Qahwa's listing name echoes a perfume of the same name; that is CSI's listing name, the oil is CSI's interpretation, CSI is not affiliated with the perfume house, and the name should stay off your label. Its 25%, 20% and 15% figures are perfume usage rates, not candle loads.

Vanilla: six options, and two that cost the same

Vanilla is the most flexible third of the trio. It is a candle on its own, it softens coffee, and it lifts chocolate towards dessert. Besides Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, CSI lists six oils where vanilla leads or shares the lead. They differ in what sits beside the vanilla far more than in the vanilla itself.

Vanilla Bean or Dark Vanilla?

They are priced identically at every size, from ₹130.00 for 15 g to ₹7,646.00 for 1 kg, so price cannot decide for you. Notes do. Vanilla Bean is the plain, creamy vanilla with a caramel edge: it is the better partner in a blend because it adds vanilla without adding anything else. Dark Vanilla opens with spice and settles on amber and musk; it is the better candle on its own, and it pushes a coffee blend towards evening. If you are only buying one, buy Vanilla Bean for the trio and add Dark Vanilla later as a standalone candle.

The cheaper vanillas, and why they are not the default

Dark Vanilla Oud is ₹6.40 per gram at 50 g against ₹8.20 for Vanilla Bean, and Cinnamon Vanilla is ₹5.43. Both are good oils, and Cinnamon Vanilla's page states the highest candle load in the group, "Up to 13% load for candles". But each brings a second character: cardamom and oud in one, cinnamon and clove in the other. In a trio collection that second character competes with the coffee. Use them when you want it: Dark Vanilla Oud for a darker line, Cinnamon Vanilla for a spiced, winter one. The 13% figure is usable only in a wax that allows it, such as Luxury Soy Wax Chunks or Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468, both stated up to 13%; in CSI 464 the wax's 10% governs.

Chocolate: one oil and a missing 100 g

CSI lists one dedicated chocolate oil. Chocolate Fudge describes "rich cocoa and sweet caramel top notes, creamy chocolate and toasted nuts middle notes, and vanilla bean and warm brown sugar base", and states "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles". The page also calls it "a rich, IFRA-certified chocolate fudge fragrance oil"; that is the page's wording, and the documentation is available on request on WhatsApp.

The price structure is unusually simple. From 50 g upwards it is flat at ₹3.96 per gram: ₹198.24 for 50 g, ₹1,982.40 for 500 g, ₹3,964.80 for 1 kg. There is no bulk saving at all, which makes it the cheapest oil per gram in this guide at 50 g (Roasted Coffee is cheaper from 500 g) and removes any reason to overbuy. The 15 g is ₹6.21 per gram, 57% dearer than the 50 g, so skip it.

On 24 September 2026 the 100 g is out of stock. Because the pricing is flat, this is the most harmless stock gap you will meet: two 50 g bottles cost ₹396.48, precisely what the 100 g costs. If you want more than 100 g, the 500 g is in stock and gives you 41 candles at 8%. If you need the 100 g specifically, ask on WhatsApp rather than waiting.

Other places chocolate turns up

Cocoa appears as a supporting note in Roasted Coffee (dark chocolate), Moca Coffee (light cocoa, creamy chocolate), Coffee Blast (dark cocoa), Coffee Vanilla Tobacco and Tobacco Vanilla (cocoa) and Khamrah Qahwa (cacao). None of them will give you a chocolate candle. They give you a coffee or tobacco candle with a chocolate middle. If a buyer asks for "chocolate", the only honest answer on CSI's range is Chocolate Fudge, and the fudge character (caramel, nuts, brown sugar) is part of it. There is no dark, bitter chocolate oil listed; the nearest darker route is blending Chocolate Fudge with Dark Vanilla Oud, costed in the pairing section below.

The five oils to build the trio

Three anchors, one per note, then two depth oils that change the character of the collection without duplicating it. Ranked on what the pages state (notes and candle load), stock depth, and price per gram; CSI has no throw measurements for these oils and we will not invent any. Candle counts assume 150 g at 8% (12 g of oil).

Pairing: six combinations, costed

A trio collection usually needs a fourth or fifth candle: a latte, a mocha, a fudge with more vanilla. You can buy those as finished oils, where they exist, or blend two of the anchors. Blending is cheaper and gives you a scent nobody else sells, but it adds a test, because two finished fragrances do not always behave as the sum of their parts. Prices below use 50 g prices; ratios are by weight; the oil cost is for a 150 g candle at 8% (12 g of oil in total, not 12 g of each).

Two things stand out. The mocha blend costs ₹4.28 per gram against ₹11.20 for Moca Coffee, and both anchors can be reordered at 500 g and 1 kg while Moca cannot on 24 September 2026. That is a strong case for blending, but it is not the same scent: Moca's page lists tonka, musk and amber that neither anchor has. And the blends barely move the per-candle cost: every pairing lands between the costs of its two parent oils, and all of them are small beside the rest of the candle, because the jar, wax and wick (₹170.32 per candle in the worked example below) cost more than the oil.

How to test a blend, step by step

The three anchors at 50 g (₹838.24) are enough for the latte, mocha and vanilla fudge tests and each parent on its own. The full protocol for which café oils need extra hot-throw testing, and the order to run those tests in, is in the café and bakery launch plan.

Three price tiers for a trio collection

The same three notes can be bought at three quite different prices. Each tier below is one coffee, one vanilla and one chocolate at 50 g; Chocolate Fudge appears in all three because it is the only chocolate oil. The oil cost per candle is the average of the three at 8% in a 150 g jar.

Tier 2 costs ₹219.00 more than tier 1 for the three test bottles, and tier 3 ₹335.00 more. Those are small sums, and they are not the real cost of going up a tier. The real cost is evidence: tier 1 and tier 2 oils all tell you a candle load, while tier 3 asks you to find one yourself inside the wax ceiling, and then may not let you reorder in bulk. What one trio candle costs to make

Worked example, Roasted Coffee at 8% in the 150 g Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid: 12 g of oil at the 50 g price (₹55.20) + 138 g of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹0.51 per gram (₹70.02) + one jar from the pack of 10 (₹94.40) + one Eco Candle Wick, Thin (C1) (₹5.90) = ₹225.52. The same candle with Vanilla Bean is ₹268.72; with Chocolate Fudge, ₹217.90. Buy Roasted Coffee at the 1 kg price and its candle falls to ₹215.18, a saving of ₹10.34. What to buy, in what size, and when

Buy 50 g of each anchor to test, then 500 g of the one that sells first. On these oils the 1 kg rarely justifies itself early: Roasted Coffee's 1 kg is 18.7% cheaper per gram than its 50 g, but its 500 g (₹3.78/g) is already within a few paise of the 1 kg (₹3.74/g); Vanilla Bean's 1 kg saves 6.8%; Chocolate Fudge's saves nothing. Timing is a calendar question. Diwali falls on 8 November 2026 and Christmas on 25 December 2026, and coffee, vanilla and chocolate are among the scents that suit the colder months: North Indian winter runs roughly December to February.
