The three wedding candle formats

Most wedding candle work falls into three sizes. The return gift is the small one handed to every guest, often in the 50 g range because it has to be affordable in the hundreds. The favour is a step up, around 100 g, for close family, the bridal party or a smaller guest list. The centrepiece or gift jar is 200 g or more, used on the stage, the tables or as a gift for elders. The weights here are working examples, not rules. Your containers decide your real numbers, but the maths works the same way at any size.

Fill cost here is oil, wax and one wick. It excludes the container, because small return-gift candles go into tins, votives, clay diyas or glass that vary too much to price for you. Small candles also behave differently in the burn. A 50 g candle in a narrow tin has a small melt pool, and scent throw depends on that pool reaching temperature. Wick for the container diameter, not for the fragrance. Scent families that suit a wedding

There is no single wedding fragrance. There are families that feel right for the occasion because they already belong to it: the flowers in the garlands, the sandalwood and saffron in the rituals, the sweetness of the celebration. Read across a row and the pattern is clear. The same format costs very different amounts depending on the family. A 100 g favour carries ₹27.38 of British Rose but ₹64.80 of White Royal Oud, and at 300 pieces that is the difference between ₹8,212.80 and ₹19,440.00 of oil. Neither is wrong. The question is which one the client's per-piece budget can carry, and that is why you cost the family before you present it.

Indian white florals

Jasmine and night-blooming jasmine are the most obvious wedding notes in India, because of the garlands and the hair flowers. Jasmine is the value entry at ₹430.00 per 100 g, and one of the 24 oils where the 1 kg genuinely saves money: ₹3,923.00 a kilo, 8.8% cheaper per gram than the 100 g. Raat Ki Rani is the richer, night-blooming style at ₹700.00 per 100 g. Gardenia is a creamy white floral at ₹433.00, priced flat from 100 g to 1 kg. The store also lists Mogra and Rajnigandha (Tuberose), but neither has any size in stock on 24 September 2026. Ask on WhatsApp before you plan around them.

Rose

British Rose is the lowest-cost wedding floral in the catalogue at ₹342.20 per 100 g and ₹3,068.00 per kilo, with a real 10.3% kilo saving. That makes it the natural choice for large return-gift runs. Smoked Rose Royale is a darker, richer rose that starts at 100 g (₹799.00) and suits a premium favour better than a 300-piece return gift. Sandal, saffron and woods

Sandalwood (₹502.68 per 100 g) and Saffron Cedarwood (₹696.20) carry the ritual side of a wedding. Woods also read well to guests who dislike strong florals, which matters when one candle goes to a few hundred people. White Royal Oud (₹810.00) is the premium option. One detail is worth knowing if you run Saffron Cedarwood at volume: its 500 g is the cheapest size per gram (₹5.17), below both the 100 g (₹6.96) and the 1 kg (₹6.87).

Soft vanilla, spice and bright florals

Cinnamon Vanilla (₹483.80) and Vanilla Bean (₹790.00) suit mehendi and sangeet evenings and winter functions. Japanese Cherry Blossom (₹500.00), Ylang Ylang Flower (₹590.00) and Neroli (₹665.52) are lighter and work well for daytime functions, haldi and pastel colour themes. Which family suits which function is a styling judgement. Treat it as reasoning from the occasion, not as sales data.

Costing a whole wedding order

Here is a realistic mixed order, used only as a worked example: 300 return gifts at 50 g in British Rose, 100 favours at 100 g in Raat Ki Rani, and 20 centrepiece jars at 200 g in Sandalwood. Each line gets its oil at 8%, a 5% allowance for pour loss and test burns (a working assumption), and the cheapest combination of in-stock CSI packs that covers the need.

The pack mixes look fiddly because they are the cheapest way to cover each need, not the tidiest. For British Rose, one 1 kg plus small top-ups is cheaper than a 1 kg plus a 500 g, because the extra 500 g would buy oil you do not need. For Raat Ki Rani, a 500 g, three 100 g and a 50 g cover 850 g. Round up to tidy packs if you prefer, at a cost of a few hundred rupees and with extra oil left for the next order. Then add the rest of the bill. Wax is 28.0 kg with the same 5% allowance, bought as 5 × 5 kg + 3 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks for ₹17,071.00. Each two-point change in load moves a Raat Ki Rani favour by about ₹12.80 once the wax saving is netted off. Timing the November–February season

The November–February wedding season starts right behind Diwali, which falls on 8 November 2026. For a candle maker that means two demand peaks back to back, both drawing on the same raw materials. Diwali production usually buys its oil in October. If you wait until after Diwali to buy oil for a late-November wedding, you may be ordering just as popular sizes have been drawn down. Nobody can promise a restock date for you, so plan around that uncertainty.

Where wedding candles go wrong

Most wedding candle problems are planning problems. The scent is chosen from a name, not a burn test. The oil is ordered in two lots and the second smells slightly different. The load is raised at the last minute because a test candle seemed weak, and suddenly the order needs 25% more oil than was bought.
