Should I Purchase 500 g Samples of Different Reed Diffuser Bases Before Committing to a 25 kg Wholesale Order?
Aktie
Does CSI sell 500 g samples? Every in-stock base is listed in 500 ml; Pure Performance also in 100 g. That listed size is the sample. There is no 25 kg listing — ask for a quote on WhatsApp.
Is 500 ml enough to test? Yes: nine 50 ml test bottles per base use 302.4 g, leaving a retained sample and a repeat.
What can a sample not tell me? Whether the 25 kg will be the same lot, the dispatch time, the pack format or reorder availability — none is published. Ask, and check the delivery.
Yes — sample first. Here is what it costs and what it cannot tell you
The short answer is yes, and the arithmetic makes it easy. At CSI's listed price, 25 kg of a ₹1,099.00 base is 50 bottles of 500 ml at an example density of 1.00 g per ml — ₹54,950.00 before any quoted volume price. One 500 ml of each of two candidate bases is ₹2,198.00, about 4.0% of that. With oils, bottles and reeds to test them properly, the full sample round on this page is ₹5,461.04, or 9.9% of the order. If there is more than a 9.9% chance that a base ordered without testing would turn out unusable with your oils — leaving you with 25 kg you cannot sell — the sample round pays for itself; with a new base and new oils, the chance is rarely that small.
But a sample answers some questions and not others, and it is worth being clear which before you treat a good sample result as permission to buy 25 kg. A sample tells you whether this base, with your oils, at your load, in your bottle, stays clear and performs. It cannot tell you whether the 25 kg you receive will be the same as the sample: CSI publishes no lot numbers, lot-to-lot data or batch certificates for its bases, so a large delivery may come from a different production lot. Nor does a sample tell you lead time, the packing format of a large quantity, or whether the base will be in stock when you reorder — none of which is published. Ask CSI on WhatsApp about each, and check the delivery when it arrives.
So the straight answer is: buy one 500 ml of each candidate base (100 g of Pure Performance if you only need a first clarity screen), test it with every oil you will use it for, keep a retained sample of the one that passes, ask for a quote and the commercial details for 25 kg, and check the delivery against your retained sample before blending production. The rest of this page sizes the sample round so one bottle of each base is enough, prices it, and gives you the arrival check.
| Your 100 ml weighs | Grams per 500 ml | Bottles for 25,000 g | At listed price | Two 500 ml samples as a share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 95 g | 475 g | 53 | ₹58,247.00 | 3.8% |
| 100 g | 500 g | 50 | ₹54,950.00 | 4.0% |
| 105 g | 525 g | 48 | ₹52,752.00 | 4.2% |
Is 500 ml enough? Budgeting one sample bottle
It is, if you plan it. In CSI's 50 ml Gold Reed Diffuser Bottle with an example 40 g fill at 20%, each test bottle uses 32 g of base. A useful round per base is three reeded bottles per oil for two oils, a base-only blank, and one bottle of each oil at 30% — the top of the pages' range — as a clarity stress check. That is 9 bottles and 302.4 g of base with a 5% allowance, leaving about 198 g of the 500 ml (at the example density) for a repeat or a second load.
| Use | Bottles | Base each | Base total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Ocean at 20%, reeded | 3 | 32 g | 96 g |
| Fresh Strawberries at 20%, reeded | 3 | 32 g | 96 g |
| Base-only blank, capped | 1 | 40 g | 40 g |
| Each oil at 30%, capped (clarity stress) | 2 | 28 g | 56 g |
| 5% allowance | — | — | 14.4 g |
| Total | 9 | 302.4 g | |
| Left in the 500 ml for a repeat (example 1.00 g/ml) | — | — | 198 g |
If you are not yet sure a base is worth a 500 ml, a smaller clarity screen comes first: one bottle of each oil at 20% plus a blank needs 109.2 g of base, which Pure Performance Base's 100 g size covers (2 × 100 g, ₹650.00). The other four bases are sold only in 500 ml, so for them the 500 ml is the smallest sample there is. Clarity tests before a 5 kg order gives the full seven-look clarity protocol, and comparing two bases on five criteria gives the scorecard to read this round with.
The sample round: two bases, two oils, one 500 ml each
The candidates here follow what CSI's pages say. Lift Base's page is written for floral, citrus, green and fruity families, and Longevity Base's page tells you to use Lift for aquatics; the example oils are Blue Ocean (aquatic) and Fresh Strawberries (fruity). Pure Performance Base is the neutral control, and if you already sell in another base, make that the control instead. Every bottle is weighed; every room score is blind.
| Base | Bottles | Contents | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lift Base | L1–L3 · L4–L6 | Blue Ocean / Fresh Strawberries at 20%, reeded | Performance with each oil |
| Lift Base | LX | Base only, capped | Blank: clarity, odour |
| Lift Base | LB30 · LS30 | Each oil at 30%, capped | Clarity stress at the top of the range |
| Pure Performance Base | P1–P3 · P4–P6 | Blue Ocean / Fresh Strawberries at 20%, reeded | Performance with each oil |
| Pure Performance Base | PX | Base only, capped | Blank |
| Pure Performance Base | PB30 · PS30 | Each oil at 30%, capped | Clarity stress |
From the sample to the 25 kg order
Before you order, size the whole job, not just the base. At 20% in a 40 g fill, each bottle holds 32 g of base, so 25 kg of base makes about 781 bottles and needs 6,250 g of fragrance oil — 6.25 kg — alongside it. CSI's oils are listed up to 1 kg per pack, so plan the oil order with the base order, and check each oil's stock: on 14 October 2026 Blue Ocean was in stock from 15 g to 1 kg and Fresh Strawberries likewise. The bottles and reeds scale the same way: about 79 packs of ten bottles and 5,469 reeds at 7 per bottle — see how much base for 100 bottles and monthly wholesale requirements and lead times for the full order maths.
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| What is the price for about 25 kg, and in what pack format? | No 25 kg listing and no published volume discount; the quote replaces the 500 ml arithmetic |
| Can the quantity be supplied from one production lot? | So your whole run matches the sample you approved — do not assume it |
| When can it be dispatched? | Lead times are not published; plan festive production backwards from the answer |
| Is an SDS available for this base, current version? | Storage, labelling and courier needs for 25 kg in your workshop |
| How should an opened large pack be stored? | A 25 kg pack is used over weeks; shelf life is not published |
| Will this base be available for reorder? | A 25 kg commitment assumes you can buy the same base again |
| Check | How | Pass if |
|---|---|---|
| Record | Date, packs received, any marking on the packs | — |
| Weight per 100 ml | Same method as the sample | Within a few grams of the sample's figure |
| Look and smell | New base beside retained sample, white and black cards; blind sniff | Same clarity, colour and odour |
| Quick ladder | Each oil at production load and +10 points, 0 h, 48 h, 7 days | Clear, as the sample was |
| Pilot bottles | Three bottles of your bestseller, weighed for 7 days | g/day and room score in line with the sample round |
The priced sample round
Listed, in-stock CSI packs only, with a 5% allowance on liquids. One 500 ml of each base is the sample itself. Each oil needs 75.6 g across both bases (3 bottles at 20% and one at 30% per base), bought as the cheapest mix of its small sizes. Two packs of 50 ml bottles cover the eighteen bottles with two spare.
| Item | Need | Buy | Price | Skip if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lift Base | 302.4 g | 1 × 500 ml (the sample) | ₹1,099.00 | It is not a candidate |
| Pure Performance Base | 302.4 g | 1 × 500 ml (the sample) | ₹1,099.00 | Your current base is the control |
| Blue Ocean | 75.6 g | 1 × 50 g + 2 × 15 g | ₹433.44 | You hold this oil |
| Fresh Strawberries | 75.6 g | 1 × 100 g | ₹377.60 | You hold this oil |
| Gold Reed Diffuser Bottle, 50 ml | 18 bottles | 2 × pack of 10 | ₹1,652.00 | You test in your own bottle |
| Fiber Diffuser Reeds (Black) | 12 × 7 = 84 | 1 × pack of 100 | ₹800.00 | You hold reeds |
| CSI sample round | ₹5,461.04 | |||
| Weighing Scale | 1 | 1 | ₹354.00 | You own a scale |
| With scale | ₹5,815.04 |
Pure Performance's sample could be bought as 100 g packs instead — the round needs 302.4 g, which is 1 × 500 ml (₹1,099.00) — but the 500 ml is cheaper per gram for any density above 0.676 g per ml and leaves a retained sample and a repeat. The 84 reeds come as one 100-pack (₹800.00), cheaper than a 50 and two 25s (₹872.00).
The decision rule
| If this is true | It means | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| A base passes clarity with every oil and wins or ties your scorecard | A candidate for the order | Ask for the 25 kg quote and commercial details; keep the retained sample |
| It passes at 20% but a 30% stress bottle hazes | Compatible, limited margin | Order only if your production load stays well below the haze point |
| It passes with one oil, fails with another | Not a range base | Order for the passing oil only, or sample a third base for the other |
| Both candidates fail with an oil | Neither suits that oil | Don't order yet — sample another base |
| Your current base ties with the candidates | No reason to switch | Don't order a new base |
| Quote, lot, dispatch or SDS answers do not fit your plan | A commercial gap | Order in 500 ml for now; revisit the 25 kg later |
Once ordered, the 25 kg is checked on arrival against the retained sample, and the retained sample is kept until the last bottle of that delivery is sold. Should I buy 1 kg, 5 kg or 25 kg of base when starting? weighs the quantity itself; choosing a base supplier for consistency and repeat availability and testing a new base supplier before switching cover the supplier side; scaling a 100 g trial to 25 kg production covers the formulation side. The section's pillar is which reed diffuser base to buy in India, and its capstone is the commercial base selection framework.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished diffusers. A supplier could skip straight to the 25 kg quote. This page says the sample is worth it, says plainly that CSI lists no 25 kg size, publishes no volume discount, lot numbers, lead times or pack format for large quantities, and tells you not to switch from a base that ties with ours.
Diffuser base, reed, bottle and tool prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 14 October 2026. Fragrance-oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 14 October 2026. Every blend split, base-pack count, per-bottle liquid cost, kit total and cost per day on this page is computed and shown to two decimals so you can check it; density and grams-per-day figures are labelled examples, never CSI specifications.
Bottle counts per arm, the clarity checkpoints, the weighing schedule, the room-scoring scale and the decision thresholds are labelled working practices, not industry standards — none exists for reed diffusers. Non-price figures and assumptions: Load convention: fragrance load is a share of the total blend by weight (oil g = blend g × L; base g = blend g × (1 − L)). Example fill 40 g per 50 ml bottle at 20% = 8 g oil + 32 g base; clarity stress at 30%. Example density 1.00 g per ml with ±5% sensitivity for converting 25 kg into 500 ml bottles. Working practices: per base, 3 reeded bottles per oil, 1 base-only blank, 1 stress bottle per oil; 7 reeds; 5% liquid allowance; clarity at 0 h, 24 h, 48 h, 7 days and after a cool night; weights on days 0, 1, 3, 7 and 14; blind 0–5 scoring on days 1, 7 and 14. The break-even probability is the sample round's cost divided by the 25 kg order value at listed prices. What CSI's base pages state (quoted as claims to test, not CSI test results): Pure Performance — neutral, "no added fixatives, no complex enhancements", for all families, start at 10%, maximum 30%, 20% recommended, typical working blend 75% base + 25% fragrance, rest 24–48 hours, flip reeds after the first hour; Longevity — oriental/amber, woody, resinous/balsamic, spicy and gourmand families, slower "cold diffusion", 10–30%, "if clouding occurs, reduce fragrance percentage and retest", allow 2–3 hours before the first flip; Lift — floral, citrus, green and fruity families, 10–30%; Depth — chypre, leather, smoky and rich gourmand, "slow diffusion", 10–30%; Softness — soft florals, powdery/musky and light gourmand, 10–30%; all five say rest 24–48 hours and describe themselves as crystal clear. Fibre reed page: length 20.3 cm; 6–8 reeds for a standard 50–100 ml bottle, more for stronger and faster diffusion, fewer for subtler and longer-lasting. CSI publishes no composition, density, viscosity, evaporation rate, flash point, shelf life or SDS figure for any diffuser base; no throw, evaporation or longevity data for any base, oil or reed; no reed diameter; no bottle neck size or fill line; and no IFRA limit for any oil. Any density on this page is a labelled example the reader replaces with a weighed figure; any g/day is a labelled example the reader replaces with a measured one.
