CSI Deep Buyer · Café & Bakery Launch
Four café oils you can buy and test the ordinary way, four that need a harder hot-throw test first, and the protocol, budget and calendar for both. CSI has no lab throw data, so this plan tells you how to get your own.
₹8,266.22
the Core test: six oils, 30 candles, wax, jars and two wick sizes · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which café and bakery oils can I buy with confidence? Roasted Coffee, Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Vanilla and Chocolate Fudge. Each states a candle load on its page, is in stock at the sizes a launch needs (Chocolate Fudge's 100 g aside), and costs no more than ₹56.92 of oil per 8% candle at 1 kg.

Which need extra hot-throw testing? The heavy vanillas and the specialist coffees: Vanilla Bean, Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, Moca Coffee and Coffee Blast. Rich cold, often quieter hot, some with no stated candle load or thin stock, and all dearer per candle.

What does testing cost? The Core test (four confident buys at 50 g, two extra-test oils at 100 g, 30 candles) is ₹8,266.22; the Full test adds Moca Coffee and Coffee Blast for ₹12,643.02.

Does CSI have hot-throw data? No. CSI has no lab throw measurements for any oil. The grouping here is our judgement from page wording, stated loads and stock; your extended burn test is the evidence.
The short answer
Buy and test normally: Roasted Coffee, Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Vanilla, Chocolate Fudge (with Pumpkin Spice and Dark Vanilla as seasonal options).
Extended hot-throw protocol first: Vanilla Bean, Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, Moca Coffee, Coffee Blast; perfume-grade Khamrah Qahwa only as a challenger.
Protocol: three loads × two wicks, hot throw scored at 1 and 3 hours, cure checked at 3, 7 and 14 days, colour checked at 14 and 28 days, always against a control.
Budget: tests ₹8,266.22 (Core) or ₹12,643.02 (Full); a five-scent line costs ₹29,114.48 for 120 candles and ₹70,554.72 for 300, materials only.
Café and bakery oils: cost per candle vs testing risk Oil in one 150 g candle at 8% (12 g), at the cheapest in-stock bulk size on 24 September 2026. Roasted Coffee 1 kg ₹44.86 Chocolate Fudge 1 kg ₹47.58 Cinnamon Vanilla 1 kg ₹54.66 Apple Cinnamon 1 kg ₹56.92 Pumpkin Spice 1 kg ₹63.72 Dark Vanilla 1 kg ₹91.75 Vanilla Bean 1 kg ₹91.75 Coffee Vanilla Tobacco 1 kg ₹103.19 Moca Coffee 100 g · no load stated ₹134.40 Coffee Blast 50 g · no load stated ₹155.76 Khamrah Qahwa 1 kg · no load stated ₹180.67 Buy and run the standard 6/8/10% test Needs the extended hot-throw protocol first Grouping is editorial judgement from page wording, stated loads and stock; CSI has no lab throw data. Oil cost only; excludes wax, jar, wick, labour, freight, packaging and GST.
The cheapest café oils are also the best-evidenced: every solid bar has a candle load stated on its page and deep stock. The outlined bars cost more per candle and carry more testing risk; Coffee Blast and Moca Coffee are costed at their largest in-stock sizes, 50 g and 100 g.
Straight answer
I am launching a café and bakery candle collection. Which fragrance oils should I buy, and which usually need extra testing for hot throw?
Buy Roasted Coffee, Apple Cinnamon, Cinnamon Vanilla and Chocolate Fudge at 50 g and run the normal 6%, 8% and 10% test: each states a candle load, has stock depth and costs little per candle. Give Vanilla Bean and Coffee Vanilla Tobacco (and, if your budget allows, Moca Coffee and Coffee Blast) a harder test before they go into a range — three loads with two wick sizes, hot throw scored at one and three hours, a longer cure and a colour check — because heavy vanilla and coffee notes are the ones most likely to smell rich in the jar and quieter in the room, and some have no stated load or thin stock. The Core test costs ₹8,266.22. A five-scent café line of 120 candles then costs ₹29,114.48 in materials. CSI has no lab throw data; the extended burn is how you find out.
One line: buy the gourmands that tell you their load and scale cheaply; make the heavy vanillas and specialist coffees prove their hot throw before they earn shelf space.
The four confident buys at 50 g: ₹936.82. Roasted Coffee is ₹230.00 for 50 g and ₹3.74/g at 1 kg — 19% less per gram than the 50 g.
Buy Roasted Coffee 50 g — ₹230.00

Why gourmands need a harder hot-throw test

The better a gourmand smells in the bottle, the more carefully you should test it in the room.

A café-inspired collection is roasted coffee, mocha and chocolate, vanilla and caramel, cinnamon and baked apple: warm, sweet, familiar. The palette and the shortlist are in the hub, Buy Café-Inspired Fragrance Oils for Candle Making. This page takes the next step: which of those oils you can simply buy and test in the ordinary way, which usually need a harder test, and what the harder test costs.

"Usually" is doing honest work in that sentence. CSI has no lab throw data for any oil, and we will not invent any. What follows is judgement from three things we can show you — the product page's own wording, whether it states a candle load, and stock depth — plus what candle makers commonly report about heavy sweet notes. Your burns decide.

Five reasons a gourmand gets the extended protocol
Each is a flag, not a verdict; two or more flags and the oil gets the harder test
Flag What it means in practice Oils it applies to
1 · Heavy base Vanilla, caramel, tonka, cocoa and similar base notes are slow to evaporate. Many makers find such oils smell rich cold and softer hot, so the cold sniff flatters them. Vanilla Bean, Dark Vanilla, Coffee Vanilla Tobacco, Moca Coffee
2 · Roasted top Espresso and roasted-bean tops are what the customer is buying, and they are top notes: the first thing a burning candle spends. Coffee Blast, Moca Coffee, Roasted Coffee (a lighter flag)
3 · No stated candle load You have no starting point from the page and no maximum below your wax ceiling. Moca Coffee, Coffee Blast, Khamrah Qahwa, Mahogany Shea
4 · Unusual load wording "Strong throw at lower loads" means overloading is the likelier mistake, so test below 8%. Coffee Vanilla Tobacco (7–9%)
5 · Colour or stock risk Vanilla-rich oils are commonly associated with wax discolouring over time; thin stock limits your retests and reorders. Vanilla Bean (vanillin figure listed), Moca Coffee, Coffee Blast, Chocolate Fudge 100 g

Soy wax adds its own wrinkle: it is often described by makers as slower to release fragrance than paraffin, which can make the cold-hot gap in heavy gourmands more noticeable. How each café family behaves in wax is covered in Fresh-Baked Fragrance Oils for Candle Making and Coffee, Vanilla and Chocolate Fragrance Oils for Candles; this page only uses that to decide which oils get which test.

The confident buys

These four state a candle load, are in stock at every size a launch needs, and sit at the cheap end of the chart. "Confident" means you can run the ordinary three-load test and scale the winner; it does not mean they will all pass.

coffee · the hero · buy
Roasted Coffee Fragrance
The backbone of a café line and the cheapest oil per candle on the chart. Stated notes: "fresh coffee bean top notes, dark chocolate and espresso heart, and a warm vanilla and caramel base"; stated load "candles (6-10%)". Two verified customers describe it as "really amazing" and "quite strong" — reviews, not measurements. It carries a light flag 2 (roasted top), so score it at three hours as well as one. Limitation: its 15 g is 35% dearer per gram than the 50 g; start at 50 g.

Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil
The "fresh from the oven" candle: "crisp juicy apple and spicy cinnamon opening into baked goods and nutmeg, settling into vanilla and warm amber", with "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours. 6-8% for paraffin wax" — one of the few pages here to state a cure. A verified customer reports that their customer "was very happy" and that they "got many orders" (one review, not sales data). Priced flat at ₹4.74/g from 50 g to 1 kg, so small packs cost you nothing extra per gram. Limitation: in our judgement it is seasonal, strongest from Diwali through winter.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

spiced vanilla · the safe vanilla · buy
Cinnamon Vanilla
The vanilla to buy while Vanilla Bean is still being tested: "cinnamon and clove top notes, vanilla bean and sugar middle notes, and cream and butter base", with "Up to 13% load for candles" and the page wording "A rich, IFRA-certified cinnamon vanilla fragrance oil ... Phthalate-free." The spice top gives it lift that a pure vanilla lacks. Two ceilings: its own 13% is above Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464's 10%, so in CSI 464 the ceiling is 10%; in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (up to 13%, ₹0.60/g at 10 kg) you could go higher, but test 6%, 8% and 10% first. Limitation: the product data lists vanillin at 2.5%, so include it in the colour check.

Chocolate Fudge Fragrance Oil
Chocolate for the dessert end of the line: "rich cocoa and sweet caramel top notes, creamy chocolate and toasted nuts middle notes, and vanilla bean and warm brown sugar base", "Recommended fragrance load 6-10% for candles", "IFRA-certified" in the page's wording. Flat at ₹3.96/g from 50 g to 1 kg. Limitation: the 100 g is out of stock on 24 September 2026, so buy 50 g packs or jump to 500 g; and its heavy base earns it a flag 1, so give it the three-hour score even in the standard test.
Size Price Per gram 150 g candles at 8%

1 kg ₹3,964.80 ₹3.96 83
Oil per 8% candle at any in-stock size: ₹47.58. Buy Chocolate Fudge

Two seasonal buys sit in the same group: Pumpkin Spice ("Recommended fragrance load is 6-10% for candles", ₹5.31/g at 1 kg), and Dark Vanilla ("candles (6-10%)", ₹7.65/g at 1 kg) — the latter the dearest confident buy, with a heavy-base flag that makes the three-hour score important. Autumn ("Recommended fragrance load 7-11% for candles") is bakery-adjacent but fruity-spiced; one published review gives it three stars and calls it a "Warm comforting fragrance".

The oils that need extra testing, and why each

Not worse oils. Oils where the page tells you less, or the notes promise more than a candle may deliver hot.

vanilla · flags 1 and 5 · extended protocol
Vanilla Bean Fragrance Oil
A pure, creamy vanilla — "Creamy, sweet vanilla with subtle caramel undertones" — with a stated "Recommended Fragrance Load: Up to 10% for soy wax Up to 6% for paraffin wax". It needs extra testing because it is all base (flag 1) and because the product data lists vanillin at 2.5%, which is why it gets the 28-day colour check (flag 5). It is also dear: ₹7.65/g at 1 kg, and going from 8% to 10% adds ₹22.94 of oil per candle. Limitation: if it only performs at 10%, compare it with Cinnamon Vanilla before paying for that.

coffee-tobacco · flags 1 and 4 · extended protocol
Coffee Vanilla Tobacco Fragrance Oil
The most interesting coffee on the list: "fresh brewed coffee and cocoa top notes, a vanilla cream and tonka bean heart, and a tobacco leaf, amber, and soft musk base". Its stated load is unusual — "Recommended load - candles: 7-9% soy wax (strong throw at lower loads)" — so the protocol tests it at 6%, 7% and 9% instead of 6/8/10, with 10.5 g of oil in a 150 g candle at 7%. At the 1 kg price, 7% instead of 8% saves ₹12.90 per candle. Page wording: "IFRA Certified". Limitation: tobacco pushes it towards the evening and the masculine shelf; its men's-line role is covered in I Want a Masculine Candle Collection — Which Woody, Oud, Amber and Fresh Fragrance Oils Should I Sample?.

Cinnamon Fragrance Oil "Warm, spicy, and earthy with a hint of sweetness"; up to 10% in soy none major in stock; ₹5.31/g at 1 kg — a straight buy if you want a pure cinnamon

Moca Coffee and Coffee Blast are the two to be most careful with commercially, whatever your burns say: on 24 September 2026 you cannot buy either in 500 g or 1 kg, so a scent that sells cannot be restocked in bulk. Test them if the notes are exactly what your brand needs, and ask on WhatsApp about restocks before launching. Khamrah Qahwa and its sibling listing, "Lattafa Khamrah inspired fragrance oil", are CSI's product listing names for its own interpretations; CSI is not affiliated with the brand, and the sibling's 100 g and 1 kg are out of stock. Do not put brand names on your labels. A coffee-only comparison of all five coffee oils is in Coffee Shop Fragrance Oils for Candles.

Argued against our own interest: Coffee Blast is the dearest candle-listed coffee we sell (only the perfume-grade Khamrah Qahwa costs more per gram) and, in our judgement, the one with the most evocative notes. It puts ₹155.76 of oil into an 8% candle at its only in-stock size, against ₹44.86 for Roasted Coffee at 1 kg. Worked example at 8% in CSI 464 (₹70.02), a 150 g clear jar (₹94.40) and a C1 wick (₹5.90): ₹326.08 against ₹215.18 in materials, a gap of ₹110.90 per candle, all oil, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST. If Roasted Coffee passes your test, you may not need Coffee Blast at all.

The extended hot-throw protocol

The standard test (one wick, 6%, 8% and 10%, a seven-day cure, doorway scores at one hour) is enough for the confident buys. The extended protocol changes four things: wick, time in the room, cure and colour. Each extra-testing oil uses seven candles and about 84 g of oil, which is why it is bought at 100 g.

1
Pour three loads with two wicks6%, 8% and 10% (Coffee Vanilla Tobacco: 6%, 7% and 9%) each with Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) and Thick (C2): six candles, plus a retest later. Heavy gourmands often need a wider melt pool to release their base; the second wick tests that without guessing. The jar's diameter is not stated, so the melt pool is your guide; more options are in the candle wicks collection.
2
Pour a control beside every oilEvery burn session pairs the test candle with a control at 8%: Roasted Coffee for the coffee oils, Cinnamon Vanilla for the vanillas. You are measuring "better or worse than the confident buy", not an absolute.
3
Cure in three stagesOf the oils in this plan, only Apple Cinnamon's page states a cure (48–72 hours). Sniff cold at day 3, burn at day 7 and again at day 14. Many makers find heavy vanillas and resins improve with a longer cure; the day-14 burn tells you whether that is true for yours.
4
Score at one hour and three hoursOne hour tells you whether the café note arrives; three hours tells you whether the room still smells of it or only of warm wax. A gourmand that scores 4 at one hour and 2 at three hours is a short-burn candle at best.
5
Check colour at 14 and 28 daysKeep one unburned candle of each vanilla-rich oil on a shelf out of direct sun beside a Roasted Coffee control. Compare colour at 14 and 28 days. Some darkening is common with vanilla notes; decide whether your jar and label can live with it.
6
Decide on a scorecard, not a feelingPass = beats or equals its control at three hours at 8% or lower (within 7–9% for Coffee Vanilla Tobacco), with no soot, and a colour you accept. Anything else stays in testing or leaves.
Keep the room constant
Hot throw is only comparable in the same room, same door position, same time of day. A café-style candle in a small closed room and in an open-plan living room are two different tests; pick the room your customer is most likely to use and never change it mid-test.

Full costs ₹4,376.80 more than Core, almost all of it for two coffees you cannot currently buy in bulk. Our advice is Core first; add Moca Coffee or Coffee Blast only if Roasted Coffee and Coffee Vanilla Tobacco both leave a gap in your line.

The launch line: five scents at 120 and 300 candles

Worked example: Roasted Coffee (30%), Cinnamon Vanilla, Apple Cinnamon (20% each), Chocolate Fudge and Coffee Vanilla Tobacco (15% each, the latter only if it passed the extended protocol). Each oil is bought as the cheapest in-stock combination of packs covering its grams; Chocolate Fudge uses 50 g packs because its 100 g is out of stock.

Calendar, decision rules and reorder triggers

Two speeds, because the two groups need different amounts of time. Dates assume an order on 28 September 2026 and delivery by 3 October; confirm dispatch on WhatsApp and slide the dates if needed. These are calendar facts, not forecasts.

Decision rules

Rule 1: a confident buy launches at its lowest passing load from the standard test. Rule 2: an extra-testing oil launches only if it equals or beats its control at three hours, at 8% or lower. Rule 3: no oil launches if its 500 g is out of stock, unless you accept that it is a limited edition — today that rules out Moca Coffee and Coffee Blast. Rule 4: the line keeps at least one non-coffee scent (Apple Cinnamon or Cinnamon Vanilla) so it sells to customers who do not drink coffee.

Reorder triggers

Stock trigger: reorder when an oil's remaining stock covers less than three weeks of sales (worked example: one week dispatch and delivery, one week pour and cure, one week safety); for the extra-testing oils make it four weeks, because their longer cure is part of your lead time. Pack trigger: Roasted Coffee gets cheaper all the way to 1 kg, so move to 1 kg once you use more than about 400 g a month; Apple Cinnamon and Chocolate Fudge are flat per gram, so the pack is about convenience only; Cinnamon Vanilla is cheapest at 1 kg (₹4.55/g). Winter trigger: from mid-November, hold six weeks of cover for Christmas. Retire trigger: any scent under half the line average for eight weeks is not reordered.

The CSI principle
Test the promise hardest where the jar smells best.
Heavy vanillas and specialist coffees are where cold throw and hot throw most often part company. Give them the longer test, a control and a colour check, and let the cheaper, better-evidenced oils carry your launch.
"A café candle is sold on the lid and bought again on the third hour of burning. Test for the third hour."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells every oil, wax, jar and wick named here, and does not sell finished candles. This plan tells you that our dearest coffee may be unnecessary, that two of our coffees cannot currently be bought in bulk, and that the Core test is enough for most launches.

Every price, pack size and per-gram figure was checked on CSI's live store and verified on 24 September 2026. Out-of-stock sizes — Chocolate Fudge 100 g, Moca Coffee 15 g, 500 g and 1 kg, Coffee Blast everything but 50 g — are flagged and never offered as buyable. Notes and candle loads are quoted from each product page; where a page states no load, we say so.

CSI has no lab throw data for any oil. The grouping into confident buys and extra-testing oils, the flags, the protocol, the worked-example line and the calendar are editorial judgement. Frequently asked questions

Which coffee fragrance oil has the best hot throw for candles?
CSI has no lab throw data, so no honest supplier answer exists without your own burn test. Roasted Coffee is the best-evidenced start: it states 6–10% for candles, is in stock at every size and costs ₹44.86 of oil per 8% candle at 1 kg. Test richer coffees against it as a control.
Why does my vanilla candle smell strong cold but weak when burning?
Vanilla and similar sweet base notes are slow to evaporate, and many makers find they smell richer in the jar than in the room, especially in soy. Test at 6%, 8% and 10% with two wick sizes, cure for up to 14 days, and score the room at one and three hours.
Does vanilla fragrance oil discolour soy candles?
Vanilla-rich oils are commonly associated with some darkening of wax over time. Keep an unburned test candle beside a control and compare at 14 and 28 days. CSI's product data lists vanillin at 2.5% for Vanilla Bean and Cinnamon Vanilla.
What fragrance load for gourmand soy candles?
Test 6%, 8% and 10% of total weight within the lower of the wax and oil ceilings; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 allows up to 10%. Coffee Vanilla Tobacco states 7–9% with "strong throw at lower loads", so test it at 6%, 7% and 9%.
How much does it cost to start a café candle line in India?
With CSI materials, the Core test is ₹8,266.22. A five-scent line costs ₹29,114.48 for 120 candles and ₹70,554.72 for 300 in oils, wax, 150 g jars and wicks, excluding labour, freight, packaging and GST.
Is Coffee Blast or Moca Coffee available in 1 kg?
Not on 24 September 2026. Coffee Blast is in stock only at 50 g and Moca Coffee only at 50 g and 100 g. Ask on WhatsApp about restocks before building a line around either.
